Special Containment Procedures: : Instances of SCP - 5172
Description: Instances of SCP - 5172 resemble that of a human hand severed at the wrist, different characteristics such as skin color and build depend on age and host (refer to Recovery Log and testing) . SCP - 5172 adopts a hive like lifestyle similar to that of bees or ants, however hives consist of a small population, with the largest population recorded as 100 300.
SCP - 5172 workers (labeled as SCP - 5172 - B) have rounder, blunter fingernails for digging and gathering resources, SCP - 5172 - B are the weakest of SCP - 5172 however multiple instances may prove dangerous.
SCP - 5172 Soldiers (labeled SCP - 5172 - C) possess sharper fingernails for killing prey and attacking threats to the hive, SCP - 5172 - C are incredibly fast and normally attack by using it's ring and index finger to attempt to gouge out a perceived enemy's eyes, however have also been known to slash or stab into an aggressor's forehead using the serrated tip of it's middle finger's fingernail.
Additionally (Refer to Test log A - 3) SCP - 5172 attempts to adapt it's soldiers to the aggressor's defenses.
"Queen" SCP - 5172 (labeled SCP - 5172 - A )possess claw like fingernails similar to the talons of a Bird Of Prey1 with the middle finger also secreting a venom like substance which paralyzes a host's body for upwards to 5 minutes when ingested . Additionally, SCP - 5172 - A also possess a portion of the Upper Arm section, possibly used to store eggs.
SCP - 5172 reproduce by having an instance of SCP - 5172 - A latch onto a host's face using it's fingernails, SCP - 5172 - A will then insert it's middle finger into the host's mouth and secreting the liquid, after the host is fully paralyzed, SCP - 5172 will then [DATA EXPUNGED] after a period of at least 72 hours the host's body will bloat and rupture, releasing a minimum of 5 fully grown instances of SCP - 5172 - B and SCP - 5172 - C with number depending on host's body mass and size.
The newly born instances of SCP - 5172 will adopt the skin color and texture of the host's hands, sometimes even adopting size of the host's hands. The instances of SCP - 5172 - B will then proceed to gather building materials such as bones of the host, leaves, mud, sticks, etc. from around the surrounding area of the Queen to build a nest structure .
The instance of SCP - 5172 - A will then settle inside the nest structure and start to produce more instances of SCP - 5172 - B and SCP -5172 - C believed to be done through a larval state similar to ants due to recorded sightings of instances of SCP - 5172 - B and 5172 - C gathering and hunting food such such as rats and discarded foods. However further investigation is required due to SCP - 5172's defensive nature. Additionally, after a period of 3 months to 2 years, the instance of SCP - 5172 - A will proceed to produce around 10 new instances of SCP - 5172 - A before expiring, the new instances of SCP - 5172 - A will either proceed to attempt to find new hosts and hives or stay to govern the existing hive.
Discovery : SCP - 5172 was discovered when a police report came in on October 28, 20██ on a group of missing teens somewhere in a forest near the town of ██████, Colorado. The teens were reportedly going on a "Halloween month camp" and were reported missing after they did not return after 3 days and calls by relatives and friends were not answered. The Foundation at first did not pay attention to this until a search party of four officers were then reported missing on October 31, 3 days after the search party had been called. The Foundation proceeded to mobilize 2 agents and a squad of MTFs along with a team of UIU to contain the area and amnesticize the surrounding populace and police force explaining that they had all been killed by D - Class who had been a notorious serial killer one state over. The team of MTFs then began to search the surrounding area and pinpoint the location of the missing officers and teens to an abandoned shack in the middle of the forest, where a single instance of SCP - 5172 - A was discovered surrounded by the bodies of both the teens (hatched) and police officers (unhatched) along with 2 deer (hatched) and attempted to attack the group, however the MTF 's unit's face shields protected them. The Foundation proceeded to contain this instance of SCP - 5172 - A and used it for testing. Foundation has contained the site and is currently patrolling surrounding area for any other instance of SCP - 5162 - A
