He's Not A Chicken

Special Containment Procedures: All individuals suspected of being affected by SCP-4217 should be given amnestics and transferred away from Site ██. The dose of amnestics should correspond with the length of time the affected individual has known Dr. ███.

Dr. ███ is also required to be present at all staff intake interviews for Site ██ in order to screen for individuals susceptible to SCP-4217.

Following Incident 4217-B Dr. ███ is to be assigned a bodyguard in case anyone under the influence of SCP-4217 attempts subterfuge.

Description: SCP-4217 is a memetic effect which causes affected individuals to believe that Dr. ███ is a chicken. So far this effect is not contagious, nor does it affect those who already know Dr. ███. Only a small number of people seem to be susceptible, approximately 0.1% of those assigned to Site ██ have come under the influence of SCP-4217 upon seeing Dr. ███ for the first time. This effect also seems to apply to photographs and video footage of Dr. ███. It should be stated that Dr. ███ himself displays no anomalous effects.

Individuals under the influence of SCP-4217 will at first simply be curious at the presence of what they perceive as a chicken wandering the facility. Upon being informed by fellow staff there is no chicken in the vicinity and that they are in fact, seeing Dr. ███ the affected individual will first become uneasy and insist they are all looking at a chicken.

The more that Foundation staff try to explain that Dr. ███ is a regular human being, the more distressed the affected individuals will become. They will frequently become manic, accusing Foundation staff of insanity and attempting to "prove" that Dr. ███ is a chicken through various methods. This methods will usually escalate in severity until amnestics are administered. See Incident Log 4217-A and 4217-B, below.

April, 14th 201█ - Site ██ Mess Hall

Security camera footage shows Agent ███, Dr. ███ and Researcher ████ sitting and eating lunch. Agent ███ appears highly agitated.

Agent ███: HE'S A FREAKING CHICKEN! HOW CAN YOU NOT SEE THIS?
Researcher ████: We've been over this a hundred times man, he's not a chicken. He's one of the best guys we've got, you should have seen how he handled SCP-███ when it broke containment this one time. I'm getting sick of you badmouthing him.

Agent ███ sighs in frustration, gets up and takes a chicken leg from another table. He waves the chicken leg in the direction of Dr. ███.

Agent ███: Alright then buddy, prove you aren't a chicken. Eat this. EAT IT!

Dr. ███ shows signs of distress until Researcher ████ knocks the chicken leg to the ground.

Researcher ████: He's a vegan you asshole. He doesn't need to prove anything to you anyway.
Agent ███: Ok fine. I'll prove I'm right though. You'll see.

Agent ███ leaves the table and exits the Mess Hall.

Researcher ████: Don't worry man, I've got your back.

[April, 15th 201█ - Site ██ Hallway 34-K

Security footage shows Agent ███ waiting around the corner from Dr. ███'s quarters. As Dr. ███ exits his quarters he is accosted by Agent ███ who begins attempting to forcibly remove Dr. ███'s lab coat.

Agent ███: Come on you bastard, I'm not letting you fool everyone anymore. Just give me that damn disguise.

Due to the sounds of struggle, several Foundation staff members approach and begin forcibly restraining Agent ███.

Following this incident Agent ███ was forcibly administered amnestics and transferred away from Site ██, leading to the current Containment Protocols.

Addendum: On November 4th, 201█ a staff member who had not been previously affected by SCP-4217 entered Dr. ███'s quarters without knocking and saw Dr. ███ in the process of getting dressed. They instantly came under the influence of SCP-4217 and ran to inform Security. When Security staff arrived on the scene they only saw a fully dressed Dr. ███ waiting outside his quarters. The affected staff member was given amnestics and transferred away from Site ██.
