Special Containment Procedures: Contain each instance of the object inside an individual, two-way locked cell with at least 3-inch-thick walls. All who come into direct physical contact with SCP-XXXX must be contained until such a time that a cure is discovered (See Addendum 1).

Revision effective 16/7/1998: No personnel are permitted to be in the proximity of SCP-XXXX alone.

Revision effective 19/7/1998: Personnel undergoing high levels of pervading stress, anxiety or other somewhat debilitating mental conditions are not permitted to be in proximity of SCP-XXXX, regardless of the number of people accompanying them.

Description: SCP-XXXX is an anomalous, highly psychic fridge. Its model, brand and design vary depending on country, time of instance, accessibility and brands available. The fridge does not need electricity to run, continuing to work after a short pause when electricity supply is disrupted.

Revision on 2/2/2000: The object cannot take on any non-existent fridge model, brand or design, but can emulate any fridge model regardless of accessibility, secrecy or time, indicating that SCP-XXXX may possibly have precognitive, retrocognitive and remote viewing abilities.

Instances of SCP-XXXX have a heat signature of anywhere between 32 and 67 degrees Celsius. It is unknown whether this is the entire heat range or if there are other existing instances with higher or lower temperatures. In spite of this, however, all of the food that comes from the object is always at a temperature of around 14-15 degrees Celsius.

Procedure: Subject D-4696 is told it is testing a new fridge model. It is told to observe SCP-XXXX.

Results: Subject describes SCP-XXXX as a normal fridge but mentions a strong need to use it. Upon touching the fridge, the subject slowly falls into a trance. Subject is told repeatedly not to approach the fridge and does not obey. D-4696 is terminated.

Analysis: SCP-XXXX is somewhat psychic, and no personnel should be in proximity of the object alone.

Date: 18/7/1998

Time: 0945

Subject: D-2698

Other Participants: Researcher Fabian, Researcher Gideon, Doctor W’musin, Senior Researcher Funand

Procedure: Subject D-4696 is told it is testing a new fridge model. It is told to observe and feel the surfaces of SCP-XXXX and tell researchers what they think.

Results: Subject notes SCP-XXXX looks like a normal fridge and is ‘not really very revolutionary’. They mention a compulsion to open it and step closer. Subject is told not to open or use it. Subject obeys.

Subject feels the fridge and described at ‘smooth; room temperature’, then feels both sides. D-2698 withdraws with obvious disgust and says, “It has a pulse! It’s alive!” Subject steps back slowly and stands against the door. Experiment ended.

Analysis: SCP-XXXX may be alive. Researchers hypothesise that the object’s fridge appearance could be an armour, or it could be part of the organism itself.

Date: 19/7/1998

Time: 0915-1120

Other Participants: Researcher Fabian, Researcher Gideon, Doctor W’musin, Senior Researcher Funand, Junior Researcher Csheer-Fuhle, Junior Researcher Link, Junior Researcher Freia, Junior Researcher Jorji

Procedure: Researchers are to attach electrodes to SCP-XXXX and monitor for pulse rate. Guards are to stand on alert with tranquilisers in case of hypnosis unbreakable by loud noises or vigorous shaking.

Results: Of the researchers, two of the junior researchers (Freia Wilson and Veria Csheer-Fuhle) and Doctor Funand are hypnotised by the object. The junior researchers are drawn from the hypnosis easily, however Doctor Funand has to be tranquilised.

The electrode machine records the objects resting pulse from 0945 until 1120.

Analysis: SCP-XXXX has a resting pulse of 10 bpm. From this, the researchers participating suggested that the organism may have an organ that can pump blood in very strong bursts.

More detail about Senior Researcher Funand reveals that he and his wife are divorcing. The added psychological stress made his mind weaker and enabled SCP-XXXX to hold Senior Researcher Funand in a stronger hypnosis despite not having made physical contact with the object.

Addendum 1: Any witnesses who have not come into contact with the object must be questioned and then administered Class B Amnestics. In any case where many people witness the scene of an effected person’s or persons’ injury or death, the scene is to be cleaned up and all witnesses are to be immediately administered Class A Amnestics.

All personnel and civilian instances of SCP-XXXX-1 must be contained following ‘Secure Containment Procedure: SCP-XXXX:Alpha’ (See Addendum 2). Excepting continued experiments, all effected Class D subjects must be terminated to contain SCP-XXXX.

Addendum 2: All peoples who come into contact with or have been in the proximity of SCP-XXXX must be contained in isolation until it can be ascertained whether they are affected or not. All instances of SCP-XXXX-1 with the exception of Class D subjects must be securely contained until a cure is found.

Revision effective 17/7/1998: All instances of SCP-XXXX-1 with the exception of Class D subjects must be securely contained in an unconscious state to prevent self-harm and subsequent possible death. For effective containment, no effected person is to touch a normal fridge.
