Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is held at Site 16. SCP-XXXX has been transferred to Site 27 following Incident XXXX-04, see report below. SCP-XXXX is to be kept at all times within a wooden lock-box, which is itself to be kept within a redundant steel lock-box accessible only via key. The key remains in possession of lead researcher, Dr. Bellarosa with copies in the hands of the O5 Council and Site 16's Head of Security. Opening SCP-XXXX's lock-box requires Level 4 clearance. Following Incident XXXX-04, see report below, access to SCP-XXXX has been completely restricted without O5 authorization. Although SCP-XXXX poses no immediate danger without direct interaction, its unique abilities make it too valuable and dangerous to allow lower level access.
Any and all materials recovered from the use of SCP-XXXX are to be handed over to the lead researcher Doctor Kiryu for immediate destruction. Failure to adhere to this policy is grounds for termination.
Following incident XXXX-04, all access to SCP-XXXX is strictly prohibited without O5 Authorization.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a one meter3 green gelatinous cube. Tests run on SCP-XXXX indicate it is made of organic material, the origin of which is unknown. Further testing on SCP-XXXX is made difficult by the fact that any pieces taken from it dissolve into a puddle of unidentifiable organic material approximately fifteen minutes after separation from the main body. Tests run on this remaining material have yielded inconclusive results regarding SCP-XXXX's genetic makeup. SCP-XXXX regrows whatever parts of itself are removed in this same time. However, testing on SCP-XXXX's main body are impractical due to its negative reaction to inorganic materials.
SCP-XXXX displays no evidence of sentience or intelligence despite its organic makeup, and it can not move of its own free will, nor does it require sustenance. Nonetheless, SCP-XXXX has been tentatively classed as alive, given its reaction to inorganic materials inserted into it. Any introduction of organic material into SCP-XXXX, including but not limited to, flesh and plant matter, will result in a metamorphosis of the organic material into a precious metal or gem. The time this metamorphosis takes varies, depending mostly on the size of the organic material, although the conversion of living organic material is far faster than any non-living organic material introduced. The size of the metal or gem correlates directly to the size of the organic material placed within it.
Experiment XXXX-A
Procedure: A variety of animal carcasses inserted into SCP-XXXX.
Result: Three pieces of solid gold, two sapphires of perfect quality, one piece of aluminum, and one diamond retrieved from SCP-XXXX. All are tested and shown to be perfectly genuine. Further testing required to see if the results can be manipulated as desired.
Experiment XXXX-B
Procedure: A variety of human material inserted into SCP-XXXX. Samples taken from a variety of Class D Personnel ranging in gender and ethnicity
Result: No correlation found between organic source material and retrieved items.
Experiment XXXX-C
Procedure: A variety of organic liquids injected into SCP-XXXX.
Result: No liquid material received. All organic material solidified into precious metals or gems as per usual results.
Experiment XXXX-D
Procedure: A variety of common metals inserted into SCP-XXXX.
Result: SCP-XXXX reacted adversely to the insertion of inorganic material. SCP-XXXX began shaking violently, convulsing as if in pain. Inorganic materials were immediately removed from SCP-XXXX for fear of causing a complete breakdown of genetic structure. Removal of the materials resulted in immediate cessation of all reaction from SCP-XXXX.
Note: "Introduction of inorganic materials into SCP-XXXX is hereby prohibited." - Doctor Bellarosa, lead researcher
Experiment XXXX-E
Procedure: Class D Subject used to introduce living organic material to SCP-XXXX.
Result: Immediate and visible change of Class D Subject's appendage being transmuted to solid metal. Metamorphosis was described as extremely painful for Class D Subject. Metamorphosis did not extend beyond the borders of SCP-XXXX.
