Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Euclid Safe

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX are to be contained within a standard human cell. No extraneous security requirements are necessary for containment. A two guard shift is to rotate every twelve hours, and twenty-four hour surveillance is in place for medical monitoring.

SCP-XXXX are to be given any and all entertainment mediums they request. Special foods may also be requested twice per week.

9/07/2012: Following a long period of good behavior and having shown no inclination to escape containment, the proposal to downgrade SCP-XXXX's Object Class to Safe has been approved.

Description: SCP-XXXX are a pair of Caucasian fraternal twins, one male and one female, aged approximately 27. Hereto referred to as SCP-XXXX-1 and SCP-XXXX-2, the siblings exhibit no physical display of any phenomena so long as they remain within close proximity to one another. However, should any distance greater than 500 feet be put between them, the siblings health will begin to noticeable start to degrade. The specifics of this degradation are detailed in the table below.

SCP-XXXX state that they have always manifested this phenomena, but that they always took it to be coincidental. As children they were never truly separated; they attended the same school, lived in the same house, went on all family vacations together and never strayed far from one another. As they came to the Foundation's attention at the age of █, they never had the opportunity to be truly independent of one another.

Though they find their condition disagreeable, they have come to accept it across their many years in Foundation custody and have few complaints regarding their containment.

12/13/2008: SCP-XXXX-1 and SCP-XXXX-2 are recorded as having entered into a sexual relationship. Contraceptives have been introduced into their food to prevent pregnancy, however no further intervention shall occur.

Distance Effect
500 Feet General degradation of SCP-XXXX-1 and SCP-XXXX-2's health, manifested as common cold symptoms (e.g. aching, coughing, headaches, sore throat).
1,500 Feet Severe weakening of SCP-XXXX-1 and SCP-XXXX-2's muscles, resulting in rapid atrophy and acute muscular failure. SCP-XXXX-1 complained of severe migraines. SCP-XXXX-2 manifested no such symptom.
2,500 Feet Variety of symptoms in SCP-XXXX-1 and SCP-XXXX-2 increased. SCP-XXXX-1 suffered a minor heart attack as well as the rapid degradation of his central nervous system. SCP-XXXX-2 experienced an intracranial hemorrhage and began bleeding from her eyes.
3,500 Feet SCP-XXXX fell into a comatose state. SCP-XXXX-1 began showing symptoms of consecutive seizures and SCP-XXXX-2 began foaming at the mouth.

Following the previous experiment's results, it is believed that any distance further than 3,500 Feet put between SCP-XXXX-1 and SCP-XXXX-2 will result in their death and is, therefor, prohibited.

Experiment XXXX-A
Procedure: SCP-XXXX-1 and SCP-XXXX-2 placed within Examination Room 37, sat into identical chairs and divided by a makeshift wall to block their vision of one another. SCP-XXXX-1 is administered anesthetic and a three inch cut is made on his forearm.
Result: SCP-XXXX-2 displayed no signs of agitation or pain. No cut of similar size appeared on her body.

Note: Following the above experiment, SCP-XXXX-1 and SCP-XXXX-2 were returned to their cells for a duration of three days. On 6/18/20██, they were brought back into Examination Room 37 where it was noticed that the cut on SCP-XXXX-1's arm had completely healed. No scar tissue, nor any sign of the wound remained. The following interview was conducted that day instead of the scheduled experiment.

Interviewed: SCP-XXXX

Interviewer: Doctor Malcom Bellarosa, lead researcher on SCP-XXXX

Foreword: Following Experiment XXXX-A and the subsequent revelation of SCP-XXXX-1's apparent healing abilities, the following interview was conducted to determine if SCP-XXXX had purposely withheld the information from the Foundation.

<Begin Log, 1:38 P.M.>

Doctor Bellarosa: Have we not been fair to you?

SCP-XXXX share a confused look

SCP-XXXX-1: Sir?

Doctor Bellarosa: I recognize the difficulty of your situation, children and the pain it has caused you. I will also grant that our preliminary experiments were, by no means, pleasant. Doctor Bellarosa removes his glasses, rubbing the bridge of his nose But, that said, has the majority of your stay been unpleasant?

SCP-XXXX share another confused glance. SCP-XXXX-2 looks frightened.

Doctor Bellarosa: I asked you a question, children.

SCP-XXXX-1: /SCP-XXXX-1 clears his throat// No, sir. It hasn't been very bad.

Doctor Bellarosa: Have we not provided you with every means of entertainment you have requested? Have we not given you as much of your requested food as we can? Have we not done everything within our power to make your stay here as pleasant as it is possible to be?

SCP-XXXX-1: Yes, sir. You have.

Doctor Bellarosa: Then why did you withhold information about your abilities from us?

SCP-XXXX look, frightened, at each other.

SCP-XXXX-2: What do you mean, sir? We haven't.

Doctor Bellarosa: Doctor Bellarosa withdraws a folder from his briefcase and pulls a photo of SCP-XXXX-1's arm, taken on 6/15/20██ during Experiment XXXX-A from it. He lays the photo on the table in front of SCP-XXXX. Three days ago during our experiment, we cut open your arm, Dash One. That cut isn't there anymore.

SCP-XXXX look even more frightened and confused.

SCP-XXX-1: Yes sir? I…I don't understand. The cut…it healed.

Doctor Bellarosa: In three days?

SCP-XXXX-1: No, sir. It healed the same day as the experiment.

SCP-XXXX-2: Doctor Bellarosa, I don't understand. What did we do wrong?

Doctor Bellarosa: Doctor Bellarosa pauses. Are you not aware that this represents an unprecedented rate of healing? That cut should have taken weeks to fade as completely as it has.

SCP-XXXX look at each other, even more confused.

SCP-XXXX-2: What do you mean, sir? Cuts heal way faster than that.

Doctor Bellarosa: Doctor Bellarosa pauses. I believe I have misunderstood you, children. I apologize. Away from microphone Take them back to their cell. I need to report this.

<End Log, 2:12 P.M.>

"I don't believe these children have any concept of the fact that their healing rate is skewed. They seem to genuinely believe a cut of the size we made on SCP-XXXX-1's arm should heal within hours or even minutes. Belief like that comes from a lifetime of sheltered experience. But why did it only show now? The effects of the experiments we ran on their distance phenomena took months to fully heal, although I do remember noting SCP-XXXX-2's rapid recovery from her hemorrhage. At the time, I believed it to be a byproduct of returning SCP-XXXX to close proximity with each other. Further testing is required if we want to understand the extent of this ability. - Doctor Bellarosa, lead researcher
