SCP-XXXX, observed from Western Rhiemann-Zeta Reality Cognitohazard Anchor.
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be surrounded by a 5 meter tall concrete wall, with only one entrance/exit made to be a standard guard post. This containment measure is to be disguised as an American military facility network, with appropriate signage and equipment displayed at a surrounding area of around 30 square kilometres; and all security staff is to be portrayed as standard American infantry. Armoured Response Team Gamma-4 is to be deployed 24/7 to observe and search for any entities within SCP-XXXX (henceforth referred to as SCP-XXXX-1) that is exhibiting strange behaviour or attempting escape. 4 Rhiemann-Zeta Reality Cognitohazard Anchors are to be deployed at each of the 4 cardinal directions, and maintenance teams are to be on alert for any signs of damaged walls or Anchors. If any instances of SCP-XXXX-1 are to attempt breach of containment or attempts to leave the cordoned area, they are to be persuaded to return back into containment facilities by any researcher that bears an undergraduate degree or above in Philosophy, or Theology. If they are to persist in their attempt, non-lethal options are to be used. If they are to turn violent, all staff are to assume a full breach is commencing, and Armoured Response Team Gamma-4 is to utilise all required lethal force to put down the
containment breach.
Current containment policies are under constant review for refinement, as prior breaches have proved measures to be only adept in nature to the anomalous entities that are currently housed within SCP-XXXX. Provision of manpower for the concrete towers housing Rheimann-Zeta Reality Cognitohazard Anchors is also being reviewed, as containment staff has provided various autonomous programs capable of remote operation of Anchors. All staff currently assigned to SCP-XXXX is to be provided with Class b amnestics when cognitohazardous effects begin to emerge, and full psychological review and administration of Class a amnestics is required for all staff redeploying to other assignments.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a small urban town in the County of █████, ████, United States of America. The town bears a population of approximately 7,600 people, with no noticeable infrastructure links to other cities of the state, except for one highway acting as the singular entrance/exit within the town. The town is technologically primitive, with most buildings within bearing no electrical appliances; roads bearing no electrical lights; no motor vehicles; and rudimentary firearms in the form of muskets.
It was originally believed to be a mere Amish settlement, as Foundation staff were threatened when exploring due to the measuring equipment the researchers were holding. After initial testing of air particle samples and water samples, it has been found that the surrounding atmosphere originating from SCP-XXXX bears anomalous elements with cognitohazardous effects on the human mind, which causes subjects breathing in the air to feel 'enlightened'. Brainwave scans has detected that the cognitohazardous effects will make subjects bear effects similar to ingestion of hallucinogenics. Such cognitohazardous effects also pertains to any imagery or video presenting SCP-XXXX. All instances of SCP-XXXX-1 within the town are affected by the anomalous effects the surrounding air has, and all believes the epicentre of the anomalous effects are from the central public hall of the town. the public hall of the town bears Greek architectural style, resembling the Parthenon within Athens. On observations, the building is empty and broken, with many of the orders having significant visible cracks. But, SCP-XXXX-1 instances would insist that the hall is not in disrepair, merely that it is 'in the formation of fixing itself.'
At unordered intervals, anomalous entities wearing Ancient Greek attire would walk out of the public hall. Such entities (henceforth referred to SCP-XXXX-2) are the only entities within SCP-XXXX that are not affected with the cognitohazardous effects present within the surrounding atmosphere of SCP-XXXX. SCP-XXXX-2 instances will then travel via foot to the entrance/exit presently guarded by members of Armoured Response Team Gamma-4, and will begin to debate with any member currently guarding the post on philosophical questions. These questions vary, starting from the simplest "If a tree falls in a forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?", to questions such as "What is the true meaning of life.". All Foundation staff without correct certification, in the form of undergraduate degrees in Philosophy, will fail in the line of questioning, and the instance of SCP-XXXX-2 will walk out of containment area. If any instances of SCP-XXXX-2 are to walk out of containment, all instances of SCP-XXXX-1 within SCP-XXXX will become aggressive, rushing towards the guard post and attacking Foundation staff members.
It is currently advised that a 6-men team of philosophers, preferably with a Doctorate degree, is to be stationed at the guard post of SCP-XXXX at all times, rotating duties by shifts. The team will answer SCP-XXXX-2's questions to the best of their ability, but most instances of SCP-XXXX-2 will return back into containment after one member of the team is present. It is unknown as to how SCP-XXXX-2 can bear the knowledge of the correct certification. Except for the 6-men team, the battlion-strong Armoured Response Team Gamma-4 is to be stationed as to repel any attacks made by the instances of SCP-XXXX-1, contain any breaches of SCP-XXXX, and protect the Rhiemann-Zeta Reality Cognitohazard Anchors; 6 maintenance teams with qualification within the fields of engineering and physics are to be stationed in order to maintain function of containment walls and the 4 Rhiemann-Zeta Reality Cognitohazard Anchors.
Initial Discovery:
SCP-XXXX was discovered when local law enforcement stumbled upon the town, although the reasons and ways of discovery by law enforcement is still unknown, and more information is pending further investigation. Local law enforcement were not attacked during initial contact, but when an instance of SCP-XXXX-2 escaped the town via the singular roadway, all instances of SCP-XXXX-1 became hostile and began to attack law enforcement officers. Cells embedded within the deployed troops immediately contacted Foundation staff, and MTF Nu-7 Hammer Down was deployed to contain the threat. Containment was successful, and further research and containment operations was handed over to the Department of Cognitohazards.
