Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be placed in a holding cell with automated lockdown procedures enacted upon Earth's moon reaching its new moon phase at the location SCP-XXXX is currently stored.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a black chain link, that when in contact with the human hand, will bind itself to the holder, at which point is designated SCP-XXXX-2 and compel the holder to pull the chain, all links on the chain excluding the original are referred to collectively as SCP-XXXX-1. The chain will develop link by link as it is being pulled, from the original location of the first link. SCP-XXXX-1 will slowly increase in size and weight, and nearby researchers report hearing chanting of an indeterminable language. Small, black tendrils are found on the chain the further it is pulled outwards. Sample testing is inconclusive, tying it to no known animal or plant genus within the foundation's database. The chain will cause eventual overwhelming strain in SCP-XXXX-2, causing collapse. SCP-XXXX-1 will begin receding into the original point of SCP-XXXX, pulling SCP-XXXX-2, at which point will both disappear, with no trace being found. after a varying period, SCP-XXXX will reappear at the location, from no observable source.
Researchers have noted that SCP-XXXX-1 will only form upon contact with a human hand. Animal testing has resulted in the immediate disappearance of the animal and SCP-XXXX. The link will reappear in a consistent time frame as with human use. The link will not lengthen when moved with mechanical means, although indirect human contact, as such through a glove, will still result in the compulsion. It is noted that chanting, inconsistent with any language known by the foundation, will be heard in accordance with the New moon rising above the current location of SCP-XXXX every 29-30 days Gregorian. This has an effect of compulsion upon the on-site staff, who will try to reach SCP-XXXX. This event has resulted in multiple containment breaches, and the Foundation has put automated lockdown procedures into place on the holding cell of SCP-XXXX, which will stay active until earth's moon has completed its a phase. SCP-XXXX was originally placed within a storage locker at Site-█, but due to the effect it had on staff, as well as many onsite SCPs, including SCP-XXXX, which resulted in containment breach XXXX, it was decided the item would be relocated, via mechanical means, to ████, located in the ███ country-side.
Addendum: Discovery: ███████, Rhode Island. Townsfolk reported hearing chanting in their sleep once every month and waking up around a well in the center of town. A foundation agent, stationed withing the town, reported this occurrence to the higher-ups, at which agents were sent in to investigate the well. Agent-XXXX Attached a rope to the top of the well and climbed down. The agents heard yells to 'pull him back up', and that 'his hands were burning'. The agent emerged with one of his hands clutching SCP-XXXX-1 and started to pull the chain outwards. Surrounding agents observed SCP-XXXX-2 remaining constant as it was pulled. recordings show size change between links.
Approx. ███ meters from the well, SCP-XXXX-2 collapsed and began to be dragged back into the well. SCP-XXXX-1 and SCP-XXXX-2 slowly descended into the cell, not falling at a rate consistent with gravity. Agents heard screaming from within the well, and then abrupt silence. A removal team was called in to remove SCP-XXXX from the well, via the use of drones. The body of agent-XXXX was not recovered.
Agents reported upon attempted removal of SCP-XXXX-1 from SCP-XXXX-2, they saw visions, temporarily inducing incapacitation. They later declined to describe what they saw in these visions. in the following days after return to Site-█, multiple agents committed suicide.
