Special Containment Procedures
An area of 10^2 kilometers is to be cordoned off by means of a concrete wall approximately 5 meters tall and 5 meters deep. An underground concrete shell is to buffer the temporary dimension from ours and prevent contamination as well as escape of SCP-XXXX-3-2 instances.
Any unauthorized civilians found on the premises are to be detained, questioned and quarantined for at least one month during which they will be tested for any contaminants. If released they are to be given appropriate amnestics and released with a cover story to regarding their absence. Any personnel assigned to or transfered from the site must undergo a month of quarantine and testing for contaminants before entering or leaving the site.
Underground sensors and live feed cameras are to be placed along perimeter wall and patrolled by at least 10 groups of 2 agents. Any reports of SCP-XXXX-3’s are to be tracked down and exterminated immediately. No wildlife or objects originating from the zone are to be allowed to leave the exclusion zone. Agents are not to come into contact with any creatures or objects from the zone and any terminated wildlife is to be immediately reported and appropriate quarantine measures and study are to be enacted.
If SCP-XXXX-2 changes the zones current dimension, the site is to immediately put on lockdown and all nearby foundation military assets are to be put on standby. Atmospheric sensors are to be immediately activated and bioaerosols test are to be immediately conducted (see Exploration Report Document: Dimension 5). The site's SRA is to be immediately prepped and prepared for possible use as well as the backup device. Once all appropriate observational tests have been conducted, an MTF team is to be cleared to perform a reconnaissance mission within the entire zone. Once this and all tests have been conducted and all potential threats dealt with or at least accounted for, the site may return to its normal function.
Description
SCP-XXXX is the designation given to both an anomalous site (SCP-XXXX-1), the entity that affects it (SCP-XXXX-2) and the entities emerging from it (SCP-XXXX-3). SCP-XXXX-1 is a laboratory built within a fortress dated to the early 1700's near the town of ███████ in the Black Forest, Germany. Within the lab located in what is believed to be the site command center, an anomalous organism/machine designated SCP-XXXX-2. SCP-XXXX-2 is approximately 3 meters tall and 3.5 meters wide, composed of both mechanical structures resembling a Z3 computer covered in flesh. The flesh's origins are unknown as its DNA matches no known creature. It is covered in dozens of eyes and lumps of tumorous growths with tendrils extending from both between the mechanical construct and the building itself. SCP-XXXX-3 instances are all entities that exist in the different dimensions. They don't usually resemble humans, though that isn't always the case.
SCP-XXXX-2 is capable of shifting a specific 1^2 kilometer area located just outside the building from our dimension to that of another. It is currently unknown how the entity is capable of such actions or to what degree of effect both the machine and organic parts of the entity have on the process nor how to control it. The area affected by SCP-XXXX-2 is enclosed by a energy fence using Tesla coils to arc electricity between pylons located approximately 10 meters away from the area’s “reality wall”. The Reality Wall is an invisible barrier that separates the connected dimension to our dimension and acts as a one-way door. Objects that pass from our dimension past the perimeter will find themselves in the other dimension with no sign of our dimension. Returning from the same direction you came will not enable you to leave and you will only continue to travel in the other dimension even if you can even be observed from the outside though only as long as you stay within the 1 kilometer area. Standard communication devices placed within the perimeter can receive information from our side but cannot send info back to our side. Objects from another dimension that pass into ours cannot pass through the perimeter back into their original dimension either. Instead when they attempt to recross the perimeter they seem unable to interact with what appears in the other dimension and appear to interact with the area from our dimension in that space despite us not being able to see it. However, of the few human controlled functions of SCP-XXXX-2, one is the ability to allow exit and entry of the zone despite one side you are on. Essentially when powered on, subjects within the zone will be able to see our dimension again and return to it. The downside of this function is that it apparently requires a massive amount of energy in order to manipulate reality putting severe strain on the organic half of SCP-XXXX-2. As such the function is only to be left on for 30 minutes at maximum before a forced shutdown of the function. The maximum time limit is to be set at 15 minutes due to the age and degradation of the organism in SCP-XXXX-2. It is expected that unless we can “repair” the organism, assuming that is an option, this number will be lowered. It is quite possible that it may become unable to complete that function or even worse all functions in general leaving the machine possibly inert and useless. Actions are underway to prevent this and possibly restore the organism and we are searching for alternative options of opening the gate through the use of SRA technology.
Discovery
The Foundation was first notified of a possible anomaly on 21/9/1947 when locals reported “monsters” attacking cattle and livestock. The questioned individuals described them as "deformed versions of animals". MTF units were sent to investigate and while successfully captured or killed multiple instances, they were unable to initially locate the source. Finally, on 03/11/1947 an MTF unit discovered a previously unreported military installation. After a short reconnoiter it was confirmed to be the origin of the creatures. Foundation assets initially had difficulty in confirming location of installation even by reconnaissance aircraft. Thaumatological symbols and implements were soon discovered at site designed to make the location hard to find until they were removed.
It appears to have been abandoned in 1944 or 1945 due to the dissolving of the Ahnenerbe Obskurakorps or the invasion of Germany. Few records remain onsite after being abandoned due to purposeful destruction of information. Of the few remaining records, several indicate that the site was the central site of an Obskurakorps project known as Project Ragnarök.
Entity Reports
Since its discovery, several SCP-XXXX-3 have emerged from SCP-XXXX-1. Most of them have been contained/neutralized. This list shows all entities that have breached containment and/or have had an impact on civilian residences.
SCP-XXXX-3-1
The first entity reported in relation to SCP-XXXX. SCP-XXXX-3-1 is a quadruped creature mildly resembling a reptilian canine from dimension 1. Average height is at approximately 1.5 meters from the shoulders and 3.7 meters in length. They also possess large quills along the spine and a prehensile tail.
First reported in 1947 and by 1949 were eradicated from the region. While 13 of the creatures were captured, none survived in captivity by 6 months.
SCP-XXXX-3-2
SCP-XXXX-3-2 is a species of earthworm seen first coming from dimension [██]. They have been known to burrow themselves to avoid detection and can contaminate areas easily.
SCP-XXXX-3-2 was discovered when in 1959, a previously unknown species of earthworm named Lumbricus Badensis, was discovered in the black forest region of Germany. Through foundation research it was discovered that the worm had originated from dimension [██] within site [REDACTED].
It is believed that they burrowed beneath the dirt and had made their way beyond the containment zone into the wild. It was at this point that the underground barrier was constructed to prevent any similar incidents. Initially believed benign, records were changed and amnestics were distributed to make it appear that they were always native to the region as well as other measures taken to assure containment within the region. However, there were soon reports of 7 meters long worms within the black forest. It was discovered that for current reasons unknown some of the worms do not stop growing beyond a certain point and will continue to grow indefinitely while consuming vast amounts of local flora. Greater measures have been taken to curb and possibly eliminate the population and to hunt down excessively large instances.
SCP-XXXX-3-3
SCP-XXXX-3-3 are simian creatures resembling the form of an orangutan, coming from dimension 5. They were covered in an unknown crystalline substance and did not show any signs of visual sensory organs, so it is believed that they rely on echolocation instead of sight. They were first discovered after the first security breach on 11/6/1962. SCP-XXXX-3-3 were extremely hostile to foundation personnel, but they quickly deceased from the atmospheric differences.
Dimension Reports
Since the foundation established site [REDACTED], there have been [██] dimensional shifts created by SCP-XXXX-2. MTF Phi-9 (“World Jumpers”) was created to explore the dimensions accessed by SCP-XXXX-2 for both recon and scientific study purposes. The following is a list of those shifts.
Dimension 1: The first dimension recorded by the foundation was on the day the location was discovered on 03/11/1947 by an MTF unit. It only lasted until 14/11/1947 and as such the foundation was unfortunately unable to send an MTF unit in for exploration purposes. Multiple SCP-XXXX-3-1 were reported exiting from the dimension before it shifted, confirming their point of origin.
Visual observation showed a rocky and desolate terrain with little flora and almost no other fauna. Several other smaller entities were captured though none survived captivity as the biological and atmospheric differences between the creatures and dimension were most likely vastly different.
Dimension 2: On 14/11/1947 at 16:11 hours, SCP-XXXX-2 sounded an alarm and placed the base on lockdown as the reality within the exclusion zone began to destabilize. For 5 minutes and 11 seconds a form of event horizon formed within the zone. Immediately after the event dissipated another dimension had replaced the previous one. An MTF unit, Phi-9 (“World Jumpers”), was soon formed to carry out the expedition and recon missions in the dimension and any other subsequent dimensions.
Visual observation showed a volcanic terrain with many lava flows and high temperatures. The unit was outfitted with pressurized environmental suits to survive the high sulfur level and two-way radio sets to be used at intervals when the gate function is activated. The rest of the region beyond the perimeter similarly matched the exclusion zone. Large volcanos and rivers of molten lava make up most of the dimension. Areas not covered by lava are large ash pits and plains of obsidian and other igneous rocks.
While on an expedition into the region, MTF Phi-9 encountered what appeared to be inhabitants of the dimension. Descriptions and photographs of the beings show them to be humanoids roughly 5 meters in height with very coarse and thick skin that matched and camouflaged them in their environment making them hard to detect despite their large size. While never aggressive they actively avoided all MTF members though could occasionally be spotted trailing and watching the units. Despite wide reconnaissance of the region, no habitations or structures possibly belonging to the creatures were ever found or even small groups of them.
Dimension 3: On 23/03/1955 at 02:56 hours, the dimension once again shifted. The dimension resembled the nearby black forest and was inhabited by a wide variety of both flora and fauna, the latter of which were included many hostile creatures. The most dangerous of these were a large Canid creature resembling the species Canis Lupus. Defensive barriers had to be placed around the already existing energy wall as the creatures were highly agile and able to clear the fence to attack personnel on the base. As well as agility the creatures were also highly resistant to both pain and damage, able to easily withstand small arms fire. Anti-tank and heavy weapons had the most effect on killing them when they appeared to attack the barrier. Due to the hostile nature of the local wildlife, no recon missions were carried out in the region due to the danger and high probability of casualties on missions.
Dimension 4: The next shift was on 17/08/1958 at 12:33 hours. The Dimension resembled a swamp environment with many bogs and rivers intersecting the landscape. Hydrogen sulfide and methane was very common in the local atmosphere as well as other chemicals that had a corroding effect on the nearby barrier fence and foundation equipment. This combined with the massive snakes like creatures that inhabited this dimension made exploration on foot quite difficult with most recon being carried out by newly acquired airborne assets. The largest of the instances was estimated to be within 16 to 18 meters long though since most of its body was underwater it’s possible it was much larger.
It was from this dimension that SCP-XXXX-3-2 originated and entered ours. Since the creature’s arrival into the local ecosystem, vast amounts of flora have been destroyed by larger specimens of the species as well as higher concentration of both methane and hydrogen sulfide. It was at this time that the underground barrier was constructed to prevent a breach of containment on this level from happening again.
Dimension 5: The first site wide incident occurred on 11/06/1962 when the zone changed dimension at 07:48 hours. A red alert message was received from Site [REDACTED] by a nearby Foundation run installation. The message detailed that all personnel on the base had been killed by an unknown agent leaving only those in the airlocked command center alive after SCP-XXXX-2 had once again switched dimensions. It was soon determined by a foundation hazmat/biological contamination crew that a highly toxic substance (later determined to be an inorganic molecule composed of Arsenic, Sulfur and a previously unknown element) originating from the new dimension. Fortunately, the toxin did not ever travel beyond the outer perimeter of the site and all remaining personnel were successfully evacuated. Atmospheric sensors were set up at this time to determine where personnel could survive without a hazmat suit (all areas 1.7 kilometers of the barrier except the protected command center were deemed hostile to all life).
Observation of the dimension showed a landscape covered and possibly entirely composed of crystalline structures resembling a forest. This includes not just all flora but fauna as well with all known instances being made of crystalline material. Elements not traditionally associated with crystal formation are also somehow incorporated as well as never before encountered elements and compounds such as the toxin that compromised the base.
Dimension 6: The next shift occurred on 05/08/1964 at 03:27 hours. After the all clear alarm had sounded post conclusion of atmospheric tests, observation of the dimension showed an alpine forest and tundra covered in snow. A wide variety of both flora and fauna similar to our own existed in the region as well as inhabitant humanoid beings similar to those discovered in Dimension 2. While many of the reported inhabitants more closely resembled humans, many were also far more varied in appearance with some barely resembling humans. Temperament also greatly varied between them with some being apathetic to our appearance while others were openly hostile. Communication between the foundation and the humanoids has been very limited due to both their language being completely unknown to us and their linguistic processes widely different than our own. Aerial reconnaissance showed a massive citadel city approximately 47 kilometers from the reality wall.
Dimension 7: A new shift occurred shortly after the previous one on 11/10/1964. The dimension showed signs of oxygen, methane and ammonia. Temperature was around -146°C to -167°C. From the sky was visible a gas giant, indicating that the place was a moon of another planet. MTF Phi-9 ("World Jumpers") found no signs of fauna or flora. The terrain was made mostly of ice, though it appeared to have large cave systems with lots of volcanic activity. No living organisms or plants were found, and gravity was 0.23 times that of earth.
A second expedition was carried out by space probes to investigate the gas giant in the sky. It was made of hydrogen and helium and it's diameter was roughly 45 times that of earth.
