Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: All instances of SCP-XXXX are to be frozen and held inside biocontainment site-██

SCP-XXXX-1 is to be monitored at all times. The area within 5 square miles of SCP-XXXX-1 is to be marked as as radioactive contaminated zone. All routes of access to containment zone should be monitored and blocked.

Site-50 is to remain occupied by a minimum four-thousand personnel at all times. Personnel in site-50 are not to be made aware of SCP-XXXX or its location in relation to the site.

Personnel assigned to site-50 must be subject ot mental screening prior to transfer. Selection of personnel should prioritize those with one or more of the following traits:

  • Signs of depression, sadness, paranoia or other mental conditions with negative associations.
  • Tendency to develop positive emotional states such as joy, wonder and hopefulness.
  • Personnel who request transfer unprompted
  • Personnel with family members who would also be permanently relocated to site-50

Psychiatric evaluations must be conducted on all site-50 personnel.

In the event of the reactivation of SCP-XXXX-1 or an instance of SCP-XXXX being sighted, STF-delta seven (old hounds) are to attempt to disable all instances of SCP-XXXX, if containment seems unlikely MTF Psi-9(Abyss Gazers) will be brought in to take over containment procedures.
Site-50 personnel of level 4 and below are not to notified of the threat or allowed to leave the site unless they are needed for containment at another location

Description: SCP-XXXX is a group of non-sapient humanoid entities who resemble elongated humans but lack any one structure or organs, SCP-XXXX lacks all facial features excluding a mouth which houses several rows of sharpened teeth. SCP-XXXX’s mouth seems to be used solely for defense and intimidation. SCP-XXXX is able to emit sounds despite its lack of vocal cords or lungs.

SCP- sole other difference from human anatomy is that it’s fingernails have been replaced with talons similar to that of an ___
Several hours after sustaining suffeinte damage to considered “dead” SCP- will begin a deteriorate until no trace is left of the anomaly.

Despite lacking a bone structure SCP-XXXX will attempt to stand on its legs unless it is unable to or must traverse terrain that requires it to climb or crawl.

SCP-XXXX-1 is a cave four miles from site-50, the cave houses what appears to be a ritual circle, however no widely used form of magic uses the markings found in the circle. If all instances of SCP-XXXX are destroyed a new instance will begin to form after a few months. The process becomes visible six hours before completion.

Addendum-XXXX-1:
Initial contact report. -Dr.Ignatius.

Instances of SCP-XXXX were first reported by miners in the town of ████████ initial sightings were dismissed as “figments of the imagination” by the local populace. Over the next few months sightings increased as the town began to experience the effects of a recession as the mien was scheduled to close soon, costing the town its main source of income and laying off most of its inhabitants.
Six months after the first sighting an article was posted online by the local newspaper, the foundation took the article down and was mostly successful in limiting the amount of attention received. However paranormal investigators flocked to the town causing a flurry of activity. In less than a week instances of SCP-XXXX turned violent, the town's inhabitants vanished one by one. At this point foundation personnel were investigating the anomalous occurrences, and the decision came down the line to bring in MTF Psi-9 (Abyss Gazers) in the false belief this was related to SCP-2480. By the time they arrived at the town almost all of the people , including our own field agents had been tortured to death. The MTF forces encountered an instance of SCP-XXXX five miles outside of ████████ it soon became clear that their usual tactics were unnecessary, SCP-XXX is not only visible to the naked eye they are not nearly as durable as behemoths. The MTF forces swept the town and reported not only that SCP-XXXX’s victims had been left on display ut that there was a small group of survivors-they were brought in for interrogation and testing, although I worry about what to do with them afterward, we can erase their memories of the event itself but we can't exactly amnestize their entire lives. I am getting off track, the abyss gazers killed every instance of SCP-XXXX they could find and are still hunting more of them down, I have asked them to trap a few if they can ,but form what we've seen they don't have normal biology and they are too intelligent to fall for the small traps we can set up here. To make matters even worse all of the remains of SCP-XXXX deteriorated rapidly. I’ve left instructions that all further samples must be frozen.

Interview log
(Note: All of the survivors kept a consistent story with only a few details changed between them. This log has been bookmarked because it is considered the most detailed account.)

Dr.Ignatius: How did the attacks start?
Survivor: What? no hello, how are you how are you feeling
Dr.Ignatius: We have psychiatric personnel for that, please answer the question
Survivor: (sighs) alright maybe two weeks before you guys showed up the things turned violent, I had never seen them before hell I had barely heard of them until the disappearances started.
Dr.Ignatius: The first victims disappeared? We found dozens of corpses in the town itself.
Survivor: That started later.. First it was one or two people a night, then… it was a raid, there were hundreds of them running around town gutting anyone they could find for maybe an hour or two then they just walked off,
Dr.Ignatius: Do you mean they ran off? Did something frighten them, the sun perhaps
Survivor: no, it was a little bit after midnight and they didn’t run they, walked as in they stopped whatever they were doing and filled out of town,
Dr.Ignatius: Interesting. Did anyone attempt to flee the town after that night?
Survivor: Of course we did but anyone who got more than half a mile from town was jumped by those monsters…we tried calling for help but they took out the cell tower or maybe they didn’t because we tried hardlines and even the internet, nothing worked
Dr.Ignatius: That is unfortunate, or fortunate depending on your perspective, many of these anomalies are so dangerous that even knowing about them can kill you.
Survivor: Wait how did you know about the monsters if all communication was cut off?
Dr.Ignatius: that's a good question one I may answer if you do so first
Survivor: I don't have much choice do I?
Dr.Ignatius: No you don’t. Please continue with your account.
Survivor: Right so the next night there were alot few of us, but we managed to get organized during the day, rounded up what weapons we could and held up in the bomb shelter… we thought the choke point would mean we could stop them even if they broke down the door….it was a slaughter (the survivor winces)
Dr.Ignatius: I'm assuming it was not in your favor then?
Survivor: First thirty seconds things went well but they just kept coming in,and then they started to climb the walls, we weren't fighting a mob it was like trying to push back a flood. They go to the firing line, the people behind it almost everyone was dead after that,
Dr.Ignatius: why did you abandon the ombb shelter?
Survivor: A couple of reasons, it wasn't defensible but then again no where was, really we just couple stay around that many corpses, too easy to get sick.
Dr.Ignatius: interesting, many of your fellow survivors mentioned being unable to stand the sight of somany fallen friends. Did you have similar feelings?
Survivor: Of course I did… but i couldn't let that affect my judgement, not that my choices made much of a difference, they stopped coming as a group the next night.
Dr.Ignatius: their attacks halted all together?
Survivor: No, it's more like they got bored with mass slaughter, now they would hunt us down in small packs, then they'd bring whoever they caught to a gorup of surviors and…sorry fuck1 they woudl torture them in open view. Some would just stand around as others tore segments of flesh from their arms and legs, then when the person was mortally wounded they would just walk away…we tried to help the people but none of us had the experience or knowledge to do much…not that it would help much with the state they were in.
Dr.Ignatius: is it possible they feed of of pain? Or did they seem to take pleasure in making others suffer
Survivor: maybe they definitely started rationing their kills. But no i don't think it was the pain otherwise why show them off to us?
Dr.Ignatius: another good question. Which leads me to my final line of questioning do you know who the man that we found locked in the police station was
Survivor: That was Joseph…look we didn't want to leave him there but well he wasn't right in the head, was almost as sadistic as the monsters, i mean it’s not like we didn't give him a chance to survive… I mean we left him food at least.
Dr.Ignatius: We actually diagnosed him with a form of psychopathy, although I disagree with that assessment, it seems he doesn't feel emotions most of the
Survivor: Wait he's alive?
Dr.Ignatius: It’s seems the anomaly completely ignored him.

Contain breach incident report

Single instanceof SCP-XXXX was observed reforming in SCP-XXXX-1, by a motion activated camera. the instance fully formed after two hours, now humans were inside the previously established containment zone during or prior to the event. The instance was trapped and after a few hours it began to destroy itself bashing against the walls until it disintegrated. The restraints were ineffective as the SCP was able to bend its body to a superhuman degree. If further instances are found we will try freezing them as that has proven effective at stopping the decay of SCP-XXXX’s remains.
The SCP-XXXX’s behavior in this encounter and its response to being presented with different prey I am confident that SCP-XXXX selects its prey based on emotions and most likely feeds on them as well.
My new proposed containment procedures are simple, we turn the town into one large site but we staff it not just with researchers and security personnel but ask them to invite their immediate families as well and tell them it is an area free of anomalies. I believe that the anomaly activated when the town experienced an overwhelming sense of hopelessness and having a balanced but diverse set of emotional states will stop it from activating again. If not then the security forces staffed there should be more than capable of containing it while we think of a new procedure.
