Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be mounted on an adhesive hook, allowing for simple removal from the wall it is mounted on for maintenance. A charger with four rechargeable AA batteries is to be nearby, with a replacement box of batteries. Use of SCP-XXXX-1 is approved for researchers with level one clearance and above, but may be revoked if used improperly.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a painting on canvas, depicting an assortment of candles. These candles vary in shape and size, but are not beyond the limit of thirty centimeters in height, or ten inches in diameter. The canvas of the painting is wrapped around a square wooden frame. Orange light emitting diodes are glued onto the backside of the canvas in the location of the candle flames. These diodes are wired to a small battery pack connected to the wooden frame via four screws. Connected to the battery pack is a small switch which can be accessed via the outside of the wooden frame. When the switch is in the off state or the battery pack is not filled with four charged AA batteries, the painting is inert.
When powered and turned on, any sapient being capable of seeing, feeling, or otherwise perceiving the object falls under a harmless memetic effect. Subjects under this effect perceive the candles in the painting to flicker naturally, and can feel a mild heat, realistic to their distance from the candle. Additionally, subjects are able to reach through the canvas and remove a candle (hereby designated as SCP-XXXX-1) from the painting. The subject will perceive SCP-XXXX-1 to be a regular candle, with weight, texture and heat standard for a lit candle of its size. Individuals not under the effect of SCP-XXXX are unable to perceive SCP-XXXX-1.
SCP-XXXX-1 burn in the same way as normal candles, producing 12.57 lumens of light until burnt out or extinguished. SCP-XXXX-1 consistently burn at a rate befitting of a twenty ounce candle, lasting exactly one hundred and forty hours upon removal from SCP-XXXX. If extinguished, SCP-XXXX-1 will demanifest, leaving no wax, ash, or wick.
SCP-XXXX-1 instances do not radiate heat, nor are they capable of starting fires, or causing other heat related damage. They do not have any mass, and produce no measurable light. When under the effect of SCP-XXXX, subjects perceive weight, mass, heat, and light related to SCP-XXXX-1. Perceived heat is described as a gentle warmth, not surpassing roughly 35°C.
