The Delta Frequency - Flurry
rating: 0+x

Item #: SCP-4094

Object Class: Keter

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-4094 is to be contained with a retaining fence placed 2 kilometers outside of the affected zone, which must be reevaluated every five years for both integrity and if the frequency's area of affection has spread beyond its border.

Despite lack of population in SCP-4094's vicinity, signs measuring 150x90cm, fully equipped with strobe LED lighting. The signs are to read exactly as follows in both English and French: WARNING - ALL ENTRY BEYOND THIS POINT IS PROHIBITED. ALL TRESPASSERS WILL BE DETAINED AND PROSECUTED TO THE FULLEST EXTENT OF THE LAW. || AVERTISSEMENT - TOUTE ENTREE AU-DELA DE CE POINT EST INTERDITE. TOUS LES TRESPASSANTS SERONT ARRÊTÉS ET ESSAYÉS DANS LA MESURE DU DROIT.

All traffic, both civilian and commercial to Devon Island is to be permanently redirected under the pretenses of a failed nuclear reactor test (Modified CANDU-850 reactor) on the island that is currently under lethal amounts of radioactive beta and gamma radiation.

All personnel (preferably D-Class) must be removed from the zone after 12 hours of exposure, and are not to return to the site for a complete 7 days after departure.

Any non-personnel discovered outside of the border must be detained, undergo debrief, and be prosecuted by the Canadian government for trespassing in a restricted area. Any non-personnel discovered inside of the border must be shot on sight. Following body retrieval, the corpse must be incinerated as soon as possible. If identification is possible, a missing persons report is to be filed anonymously to the following:
-Iqaluit Police Department (Filed in Inuktitut, French, and English)
-Nunavut Territorial Police (Filed in Inuktitut, French, and English)
-Canadian Security Intelligence Service (Filed in French and English)

Description: SCP-4094 is a remote, abandoned ice core research base located on the Eastern tip of Devon Island in Nunavut, Canada. The facility, comprised of three perfectly square (200 x 200 x 4 meters) buildings arranged in a triangular pattern made out of concrete. The three buildings are connected by long (650 meter) tunnels made from the same materials.

The station was constructed on ██/██/██ and was officially operated under Canadian government funding between the dates of ██/██/██ to ██/██/██.

The original purpose of the research station was to drill and recover ice cores in order to look for viral protein complexes and evidence of prior organic life on Earth.

An emergency report transmitted under radio frequency 930 Megahertz to a newly founded communications base for the RCAF outside of Apex, Nunavut (5.79km). The communication was transmitted at ████ hours on ██/██/██, and read in accordance to Addendum 4094-01. A response team was ordered to respond to the communication (Addendum 4094-02).

A radio frequency (measured at an unknown hertz level, unable to be measured by advanced radio equipment) appears to be emanating from an unknown source 0.6 kilometers under the ice below the North building (labelled Building A) where a research laboratory and the ice core drilling station are housed.

The frequency is unable to be heard by any living creature, however within 18 hours of initial exposure to the area within 4 miles researchers complained of a high pitched ringing sound accompanied by a light headache. After 36 hours coordination issues appear, as well as the headaches progressing into migraines, with symptoms of incomprehensible mumbling and rapid eye movement in a horizontal motion.

All attempts to make sense of the speech have been futile, as well as attempts to revive afflicted personnel.

Canines appear to be immune to the effects of the signal, and therefore have been approved by Director ████████ for supply transfer.

Infected humans have a strong desire to stay within the zone of effect, nicknamed "Delta Zone" after the delta insignia the buildings create. Any attempts to remove inflicted organisms results in the said affected organism resisting removal by any means necessary, including violent behavior. If an organism is removed from the Delta Zone, they will experience immediate brain death.

After exactly 49.5 hours after initial exposure, exposed organisms experience Grand Mal seizures that rend the affected consciously brain dead, leaving the parts of the brain necessary for vital organs active at a reduced rate. These seizures specifically target the auditory lobe in the brain.

Approximately 13 hours after this event, subjects regain certain motor skills, with muscle spasms and twitching appendages. Shortly after, electric brain signals increase from the standard 10% at any given time to 45%. This results in rapid muscular movement. After this stage, violent behavior has been noted towards any unaffected. However, such behavior seems to only be intended to incapacitate the target, holding them hostage until the frequency's effects are able to take place.

In order to successfully remove an organism without causing harm is to anesthetize the organism and remove said organism before the 18 hour mark.

SCP-4094 has been classified by the SCP Foundation as Keter for the following reason(s):
-SCP-4094's "Delta Frequency" radius is expanding, at a rate of 130 meters per year, resulting in extreme difficulty implementing permanent containment procedures, i.e. retaining fence/wall.

Addendum 4094-01

"Station 36 Bravo, come in Station 36 Bravo. This is an emergency transmission from research station Delta-04 requesting evacuation. An unknown psychological stimulus has afflicted all research personnel on site. Coordinates are 75.6055 Latitude and -80.5001 longitude."

(Transmission repeated a total of four times before all contact ceased)

Addendum 4094-02

A first response team made up of 24 operatives, was dispatched within the hour and traveled by a total of 4 helicopters, however the convoy was delayed by a blizzard with strong winds that required the landing of the team in Resolute, Nunavut.

The team arrived on ██/██/██ at ████ hours, entering the Southwest building through a maintenance hatch and into an office wing. After exiting into the main hallway body cams record the team splitting into two pseudo teams, Team Foxtrot and Team Whiskey. Team Foxtrot
