The New Color (draft 2)

Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Keter

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is not to be moved from its containment chamber stand to prevent further contamination of the facility. The main figure on SCP-XXXX is to be highlighted on infrared security cameras at all times. Absolutely no one (with the exception of Class 4 or above color blind individuals) is allowed to be within 100 feet of SCP-XXX to prevent accidental visual exposure, as ordered by Doctor White. Any SCP-XXX-1 accidentally created shall be remotely terminated until further notice.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a memetic hazard which appears similar to the famous painting known as “The Scream”. The main figure in the painting appears to be drawn in a “color” not found anywhere else in the world. This “new color” does not appear on regular security cameras (the figure appears absent), but does appear on thermal cameras. The places of this painting affected by the color will show to be extremely warm, making these cameras a safe way to remotely monitor SCP-XXXX. Approximately [REDACTED] after a subject has been directly visually exposed to SCP-XXXX, they will undergo a complete personality and physical change, with the end result being SCP-XXXX-1, an living copy of the figure in the painting with an obsession with recreating the piece on another surface. SCP-XXXX-1 will attempt to recreate SCP-XXXX with perfect detail on any surface by using its own index finger as a multi-purpose painbrush. Once SCP-XXXX-1 reaches the part where it must draw itself in the “new color”, the subject suddenly vanishes and the figure in the painting appears. Color blind individuals do not appear to go through any of these changes after being visually exposed to SCP-XXXX or the replicas created by SCP-XXXX-1. . When asked to provide a description of SCP-XXXX, they always accurately describe the painting's background scenery and characters, but are unable to view the main subject of the painting. This has led scientists to believe that the subject on SCP-XXXX is not physically a new color, but rather some type of illusion. This would explain the rather bizarre effects achieved through visual contact with the subject. While these subjects would look at SCP-XXXX, they would not make any form of physical contact with the painting, claiming [REDACTED]. SCP-XXXX’s origin is unknown. It was found in a box outside the facility at [REDACTED]. Security camera footage and guard reports are inconclusive as to what was the source of the box’s delivery.
