Containment Procedures: SCP-X-1 is to be kept in a standard 2 meter by 2 meter containment cell with minimal security. Anyone handling SCP-X-1 must be fully briefed on its anomalous qualities, unless otherwise authorized by Doctor ██████. Tests involving SCP-X-2 must happen within standard containment cell with mid-level security. In the unlikely event of a containment breach, SCP-X-2 is to be remotely sedated, and denied further access to SCP-X-1 until the subject is no longer affected by the object’s anomalous properties.
Description: SCP-X-1 is an ordinary looking shovel with an approximately two-meter (5 ft.) long handle fixed to a curved steel digging implement.
Anomalous Properties: When held by a person unaware of the object's anomalous properties, the person begins to become increasingly delusional, believing themselves to be a warrior and sometimes referring to themselves with a different name. These subjects are referred to as SCP-X-2 during the duration of these effects. SCP-X-2 sometimes will speak with a different accent or language than when unaffected by SCP-X-1. When SCP-X-2 is told that their identity is a delusion, they will become increasingly violent. However, if SCP-X-2 is denied line of sight of SCP-X-1 for a full moon cycle, and informed of their previous identity, they will cease to be affected by SCP-X-1
Addendum █:
Class D told that they will be digging a hole. Subject taken to SCP-X-1 containment cell and told to pick up the shovel.
Upon skin contact with the object, Class D shows signs similar to previous SCP-X-1 hosts, becoming SCP-X-2.
SCP-X-2 begins calling for “Lancelot,” and becomes seemingly annoyed when left unanswered.
SCP-X-2 sedated and moved to containment remotely along with SCP-X-1.
Doctor ██████ on intercom to SCP-X-2:
“Who are you?”
“What do you mean? Surely a man must know his king?”
“Humor me.”
“I am Arthur, King of England, Wielder of Excalibur, and leader of the Knights of the Round Table.”
SCP-X-2 appears to have knowledge of modern technology; facing the camera when spoken to, despite claiming to be King Arthur from English folklore.
Second Class D ordered to persuade SCP-X-2 that it is mistaken. Subject enters containment cell.
SCP-X-2 appears confused.
“Where is Lancelot?”
“There is no Lancelot, █████.”
“I do not go by █████, and you shall address me by my proper title.”
“Don’t give me that [REDACTED]. You’re █████.”
Entity raises shovel.
“YOU LIE, PEON! ANSWER YOUR LEIGE OR PERISH!”
“I’m done with this!”
Class D turns to leave. SCP-X-2 steps forward, swinging SCP-X-1, and decapitating subject.
SCP-X-2 breaches containment.
SCP-X-2 sedated, and SCP-X-1 recovered.
SCP-X-2 contained until anomalous identity wears off.
