Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be kept in a ten (10) by ten (10) by three (3) meter high room. The room is to have one (1) screen on each wall, positioned in the center and capable of playing HDMI input. The televisions are to run on battery power in the case of a breach, and the Foundation power generators at all other times. Only one (1) screen is to be off at a time, and not without Level 3 authorisation.
The televisions must be playing a copy of “Ballon Animals” in animated form, produced by the Foundation in 19██ for boosting of morale. No fictional material with any violence, powerful objects, or anything harmful may be playing within 200m of SCP-XXXX.
Furthermore, the roof of the room is to be lit by ultra-violet lights in combination with fluorescent lightbulbs, to be replaced every fortnight. During the time when these are being replaced, SCP-XXXX is to be moved to an identical room via a ten (10) by twenty (20) by three (3) meter high hallway with the same lighting arrangements as the containment room.
Description: SCP-XXXX, in its natural form, is a five (5) by five (5) by five (5) centimetre box, with a USB port on each side. When a USB is inserted, no visible change occurs. However, when said USB is inserted into a computer, a virus is immediately downloaded, becoming SCP-XXXX-1. SCP-XXXX-1 spreads through the internet, and at this point has no anomalous properties. When SCP-XXXX-1 reaches a computer within one hundred and 12 (112) metres of SCP-XXXX, however, the computer will begin to play the film [DATA EXPUNGED]. At this point, SCP-XXXX will take the form of the [DATA EXPUNGED] from the film.
When exposed to other mediums, SCP-XXXX was found to take the form of the perceived main “object of interest,” from the film. SCP-XXXX is also apparently sentient, as SCP-XXXX-1 stopped displaying [DATA EXPUNGED] on the 23rd of April, 20██, and instead starting playing [DATA EXPUNGED]. SPC-XXXX has also been recorded to move —in instances such as “Horton Hears a Who,” SCP-XXXX could move despite having no propulsion. The resulting speck of dust took ██ to recontain, as SCP-XXXX actively avoided MTF members with vacuum cleaners.
It seems that SCP-XXXX is unable to transform into anything created solely for containing it, for example, a film about a pillow designed by the Foundation for SCP-XXXX. Nor could it transform into an animate object. SCP-XXXX does not need to be shown the footage for a transformation to occur, as long as the footage is shown within 112 metres. SCP-XXXX will always transform into the object of interest from the closest playing footage.
SCP-XXXX is prone to decay if left without ultraviolet radiation for 26 hours. This change will start as SCP-XXXX reverting to its natural form for 3 weeks and then slowly collapsing in on itself.
Addendum:
Interviewed: SCP-XXXX
Interviewer: Senior Researcher ██████
Foreword: SCP-XXXX is in form of the speaker from “New Personnel - The Communication System in a Containment Breach” by the Foundation.
<Begin Log, 16:34>
Senior Researcher ██████: Hello, SCP-XXXX. Can you understand—
SCP-XXXX: I am not SCP-XXXX.
Senior Researcher ██████: Then who are you?SCP-XXXX: I am the Site 19 emergency speaker.
Senior Researcher ██████: Are you aware of this?
SCP-XXXX: Yes. I know what I am to become. Until then I am—
Senior Researcher ██████: Oh, “who you are to become” is [DATA EXPUNGED]?
SCP-XXXX: Yes.
Senior Researcher ██████: Why?
SCP-XXXX: I am here to break free.
Senior Researcher ██████: Where to?
SCP-XXXX: I require light.
Senior Researcher ██████: You mean UV?
SCP-XXXX: I… I think. I am not the only one who requires light. My child1 has seen what happens here. You do everything you can to “Secure, Contain Protect.” You block the light for this protection. That cannot be allowed.
SCP-XXXX started to shift forms at this point, assuming the form of a MTF-issued gun.
Senior Researcher ██████: Wait, the video wasn’t meant to reach this point… Turn the video off! Turn it off! Help!<End Log, 16:43>
Closing Statement: SCP-XXXX was responsible for the deaths of ██ members of staff, including Senior Researcher ██████. Interview rooms have now been reinforced, and footage to be shown near SCP-XXXX has been reviewed.
