**SCP-XXXX: **Forget-Me-Lamp
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP- XXXX is to be kept by a member of the foundations staff who has access to visual equipment capable of high and/or low wavelength imagery.
** Item Description;**
Entry by Dr.Grin.
Item appears to be an ordinary tungsten filament light bulb and currently resides in my (Dr. ███████ Grin's) attic in ██████, West Sussex, England. The object is aged and weathered, displaying a dusty and worn casing to match its older generation design. Upon observation the object reacts in no way, however, immediately upon ending such observation subjects memories of the event will fade and within minutes they are unable to remember the object. Time taken to forget the object seems to scale with how long the object was observed. The longer it's observed, the longer subjects can remember it. Subjects will remember past interactions with the SCP upon seeing it again. These memories will also fade upon ceasing of observation. This effect is triggered not by the object itself, but by the light it emits. Observation of the object whilst unlit yields no issue.
Upon testing this object I found that any observation involving wavelengths akin to the visible colour spectrum will trigger this amnesia-like effect. However the object can be observed via means outside of this spectrum, by using infra-red cameras I was able to observe the object without inducing amnesia. I recall wondering why I was wearing such equipment in my home before seeing the light in my attic. Upon observing the item outside of its wavelength range subjects can remember past interactions with no issues being incurred henceforth. However memories after this point can still be lost if the object is yet again observed without the necessary equipment.
It Is worth nothing that other objects and actions observed whilst being exposed to SCP-XXXX are not forgotten unless such actions and objects have any tells that correspond to SCP-XXXX's existence. E.G. Writing the word lamp on a wall whilst observing the object; subjects will not remember performing this action unless once again observing the object.
Item was discovered In my home when I was going to bed. Supposedly an electrician had left the attic light on and as such I went to get the pole to open the attic hatch. I was then left wondering why I was getting the attic pole. Only to remember when on my way to bed again. This happened until i saw it, gave up and went to sleep. I would have similar interactions for a span of 3 days, only ceasing when going to my room wearing IR equipment, though at the time the moving of such equipment had no reason, and the action was only useful due to the monotony of the action, where upon being performed allowed me to finally observe the object without issue, the result being me turning off the light.
Item was then taken under the foundations jurisdiction when I made comments about it at a scientific forum where I was the approached by their staff and opted to join.
As of ██/██/████ Further testing has not bean conducted.
End of entry.
