Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be contained within a biocontainment chamber at site Site-103 in temperatures no lower than 18°C, and no higher than 26°C. SCP-XXXX is to be watered daily by researchers and mundane adjustments to its containment chamber requested by SCP-XXXX are to be enacted with the approval of the project head. Research staff are encouraged to engage in light discussion with SCP-XXXX to keep it compliant and comfortable.
At no time are any of SCP-XXXX's fruits or appendages to be removed from its shoot system without the direct approval of SCP-XXXX, and the project head. Any conversations recorded with SCP-XXXX must have a registered shorthand reporter on-site to preserve transcripts of interactions due to SCP-XXXX's atypical method of communication.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a sentient tomato plant of normal size and shape which retains an interest in the United States Supreme Court and its adjudication. Site staff first became aware of SCP-XXXX's existence in 2015 after Junior Researcher █████ Edwards discovered his Grandmother arguing with SCP-XXXX about the merits of the then-recent United States Supreme Court decision Obergefell v. Hodges. SCP-XXXX was later confiscated, and the grandmother amnesticized.
SCP-XXXX identifies itself as John Nix of the "John Nix & Co. Fruit Commission" an 18th century produce transportation company most famous for its role within the United States Supreme Court decision Nix v. Hedden. Whenever personnel expresses any mention of the case Nix v. Hedden, the classification status of Tomatoes as either a fruit or vegetable or the Supreme Court of the United States in general, SCP-XXXX will begin communicating with all individuals in a roughly five-meter radius.
SCP-XXXX communicates through creating artificial vibrations upon the eardrum through an unknown telepathic process. When conversing with SCP-XXXX, the communication subject will process sound vibrations upon their eardrum which are otherwise not observed through conventional recording equipment. Due to this quirk within SCP-XXXX's standard method of communication, all conversations with SCP-XXXX are only able to be recorded with a staff member actively transcribing the conversation as it takes place.
