Doctor Monroe - The Spiegel

Item #: 4192

Object Class: Euclid

Containment Procedures: SCP-4192 is to be contained in a 2m x 5m x 2m container that is to be made of plastic with a thickness of 3 inches that is to be coated in freshly made, or otherwise newly acquired, PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene) to assure that the SCP will not be able to bite or tear said first layer. Followed by a 6m x 9m x 6m steel container, consistent of a type of steel that has a high compressive strength, and an extremely high, industrial strength amount of impact and tensile strength to prevent 4192 from ripping or otherwise breaking the steel in the case of breaking the plastic inner layer to aid from it using the metal counteractively

A senior scientist, or a scientist accompanied by a senior scientist as an observer, along with two escorting D-class personnel at any one time— covered in PTFE to try and prevent SCP-4192 in biting or injuring them incase of breach— are to look at cameras within 4192's containment in order to observe whether or not any layers have been damaged or ripped, as well as to observe that the organism had not changed state.

Its containment cell is to be under lockdown if SCP-4192 goes missing or has broken out of Containment. If 4192 is not found within 1 hour of being missing, system lockdown is to be set in place. If not found in two hours of lockdown, upon approval of two clearance level five, or no less than three clearance level four personnel are to detonate the warhead for site-[Redacted] to prevent an SK-class, and eventually a XK-end-of-the-world scenario event. (See Addendum 4192-B-X Not yet added)

Description: SCP-4192 is currently a small 1 meter large, amorphous, giant cell that seems to have been made from a supposed origin source of billions of cells that are able to accumulate, via selective permiability, or seemingly the lack thereof, cells in large quantities. (See Addendums 4192-B-1, 4192-B-2, and 4192-B-3) The amount of cells that it can hold at one time are unknown, as is the rate of which that the large cell can use mitosis.

SCP-4192 has been observed to have the strange anomolous, or by possibly unknown biological purposes, to be able to eat any solid material and then proceed to turn into said material by copying cells throughout its whole body, however it can not remember past materials. Upon study, examination, and hypothesized theories, it seems to be made of microscopic-sized plates of said material whenever it changes size, texture, and hardness according to a material that it absorbs or 'eats', which can allow it to further absorb more of either the same material, or different material. Material 'memory' lasts on average of one hour without extra material added.

Along with the ability of using this permiability while effectively holding the state of the material, it can also close these gaps to where the SCP is outwardly, and possibly inwardly to an extent, the material. It is because of this unique trait that the cell of 4192 and cells surrounding it are to be swept daily, and no diamond-comptised, including on tools, or stronger, are to be anywhere within 10 meters of 4192's cell without clearance level 4 approval or higher, or the approval of the personnel doing the repair, or given task of the tool or item if containment breach will happen otherwise.

Addendum 4192-B-1: Material testing #1

1200: SCP-4192 was exposed to a measured 1kg of [Redacted] wood from the forest around site-[Redacted], with the bark stripped, but the wood otherwise left in its natural state.

1214: SCP-4192 shows interest in the wood and proceeds to eat it, leaving a clean bite mark as if 4192 faced no resistance against material.

1215: SCP demonstrates further anomalous ability by proceeding to change into same material as was provided.

1216: SCP-4192 continues to eat wood until material completely disappears.

1220: Camera appears to skip a few minutes. Frames on camera indicate immediate mitosis of 1-10 seconds.

1221: SCP-4192-1, 4192-2, 4192-3, and 4192-4 appear to be extremely volatile after mitosis.

1223: 4192-1 and 4192-3 appear to try and break out using their teeth and by ramming into the door, attempt fails as wooden teeth break. 4192-2, and 4192-4 start fighting and biting each other.

1224: Instances of 4192 appear to be harming each other. Possible loss of SCP imminent. Test is called off.

1230: Scientists arrive at testing cell for 4192. Only one instance remains, holding minimal injury that appeared to 'heal' with a shifting of outside material.

Conclusion: SCP-4192 has the ability to divide almost instantly while also giving divided offspring the same material it gained the use of. Especially volatile right after division compared to normal state.

Addendum 4192-B-2: Endurance testing #1

0800: SCP-4192 was exposed to a measured 1kg of [Redacted] wood with same preparation precedures as 4192-B-1.

0805: SCP once again shows interest in material, though more than 2x quicker than the previous experiment.

0817: SCP appears to remember duplication last time. 12 minutes pass and SCP only wanders around cell while trying to bite its way out with a more thought out approach.

0838: SCP-4192 appears to start losing its abilities to maintain its 'regeneration' of replacing teeth and body parts while breaking off material in attempt to escape.

0904: SCP still trying to break out, but efforts appear to be lessened as its material state has fully worn off and it is now in its base cell form. Testing called off.

Conclusion: SCP-4192 has the ability to hold a material and draw from presumably the new matter, or existing matter in order to maintain this state upon injury if found beneficial. Cannot, or appears to not to want to absorb lost material.

Addendum 4192-B-3: Sentience testing #1

0830: SCP-4192 has been provided materials in a random order of varying tensile strengths and overall durability. Ranging from a soft plastic such as a stress ball, prepared wood, glass, and iron.

0840: 4192 is busy analyzing materials as SCP wanders around them all and looks at them with varying degrees of interest. Testing them all with its bodyweight. Shows playful interest in soft plastic, curiosity of glass, but after it properly analyzed them all, showed an affinity for the hardest material.
0843: SCP-4192 attempted to bite iron in cell state. No reprocussions because of amorphous state, however it did not succeed. Reason is unknown.

0845: SCP appears to have caught on to different strengths, sets plastic aside before testing out different methods and choices for patterns of what to eat or absorb. Attempts to use glass on wood before finding out it wouldn't work. Attempts a half polymer of wood and glass on metal, close to succeeding but fails because of tensile strength.

0850: Test almost called off before 4192 manages to tear a piece of the iron off of the rod, splintering it as it was purposefully half forged. Soon the SCP was completely externally iron, and upon efforts of it attempting to escape the cell were becoming more effective. Tests were called off.

Conclusion: SCP-4192 has the weak ability to combine elements imperfectly, resulting in a one-half of one material and one half of another. Doesn't strengthen materials via a polymer of the two. Has an above-average sentience expected of a being of its size and expected knowledge of materials.

Addendum 4192-B-4: Containment testing #1

1100: SCP put in room with several environments in obstacle course. Is assisted by predominantly plastic machine. Shown piece of metal as reward at end. Has been shown to like metals and hard objects. Personality did not change as it tried to eat said metal before being placed at start.

1104: SCP completes the first room with a simple test of which material is harder, followed by it simply being able to chip off and eventually eat weaker metals if it's material has more impact force.
1112: SCP gets stumped in room 5, the last room. Walls are covered In PTFE to try and prevent teeth from gripping metal or other materials. Test succeeds.

1120: SCP becomes frustrated. 4192 still unable to pierce through material with lubricant, even if 4192's absorbed material would be stronger otherwise.

1122: Test called off. Results conclusive and effective.

Conclusion: SCP-4192 is found to excel at puzzles and working with strategies, albeit still behind even an infant, it is making progress. New Containment procedure has been found after testing last room in course, effectively showing the best way to contain said Euclid SCP.
