The Abyssal Submarine
rating: 0+x

Item #: SCP-4495

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: One manned foundation submarine has been sent to observe the vessel while staying 30 meters behind it ensuring that instances of SCP-4495-1 do not dismantle the submarine.

Description: SCP-4495 is an Ohio-Class U.S. Navy submarine measuring 170 meters which has been spotted roaming the bottom of the Pacific Ocean 7 miles underneath the surface. SCP-4495 does not seem to be made of any sort of metal but a rock like substance with odd carvings covering most of its outer body. Two red search lights can be seen on the front of the vessel, and are always on unless the vessel is stationary. SCP-4495 can be seen in a stationary position once every week at approximately 11:45 PM on Wednesday to 5:30 AM on Thursday. No known propulsion devices have been found on SCP-4495 therefore making it unknown as to how it moves.

Along with the submarine itself, entities resembling scuba divers have been spotted leaving the vessel and, have been classified as SCP-4495-1. Instances of SCP-4495-1 have been observed destroying foundation equipment that comes within a 20 meter radius of the vessel. Instances of SCP-4495-1 have been witnessed surfacing at the top of the ocean in the past and have been seen walking onto nearby beaches. There have been reports of people going missing on beaches that SCP-4495-1 instances have been seen on.

A black liquid resembling oil can be seen leaving the bottom of SCP-4495 at times but does not flow toward the surface but sinks very quickly toward the ocean floor. It is not yet known what this substance is or what it is used for but, all attempts at collecting samples of it result in instances of SCP-4495-1 dismantling recovery equipment. While observing the black liquid human fingers and skin fragments can be seen floating around.

Testing Log:

Test A - 04/██/2███

Subject: D-8157

Procedure: The subject is to be sent 7 miles under the Pacific Ocean surface to view SCP-4495 from a distance, and has been informed to attempt to obtain a sample of the black substance leaving the vessel.

Results: During the expedition instances of SCP-4495-1 were spotted leaving the vessel and swimming toward the manned submarine. Upon reaching the submarine instances of SCP-4495-1 can be seen dismantling the submarine quickly and the subject can be heard screaming for help before one instance is seen climbing inside and taking the subject away. D-8157 is presumed dead and no further manned research missions within 20 meters of the vessel are to be held without clearence from 04 level personnel or higher.

Analysis: Instances of SCP-4495-1 have been classified as hostile and should be avoided at all costs. The use of the black substance is still unknown and future unmanned testing has been approved for collection of the substance.
