Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be kept within a multipurpose Safe-Class containment cell within Site-26. SCP-XXXX is to be kept within a shipping container to allow for relocation as necessary. Both SCP-XXXX and SCP-XXXX-A are temporarily contained within a multipurpose Safe-Class containment cell within Site-31. Upon construction, both are to be permanently relocated to Site-XXXX.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a handcrafted wooden wagon wheel discovered in the river valley between the peaks of Smith Ridge and Arctic Point, Idaho, United States of America by Mobile Task Force Gamma-6 in the process of tracking anomalous activity related to SCP-████.
SCP-XXXX is capable of consistently balancing on it's side and moving autonomously. SCP-XXXX will roll towards nearby lifeforms and attempt to interact with them, with a variable range from approximately 5 to 25 meters, however in prolonged isolation, this range can extend to around 20 kilometers. This interaction can range from curious observation to almost playful movement akin to that of a domestic animal.
Testing Log - 3/08/2019
Subject: Mus musculus (1)
Procedure: Introduce subject to containment chamber and observe remotely.
Results: SCP-XXXX immediately moved towards the subject before stopping at around a meter away to perform two full rotations around the subject. SCP-XXXX then pivoted to face the subject and accelerated towards it, stopping and backing up immediately when the subject let out a high pitched vocalization upon contact. SCP-XXXX quickly returned to the northwest corner of the room.
Analysis: Doctor Semyonov noted that the infliction of pain did not appear to be intentional, and proposed that the quick retreat SCP-XXXX was indicative of remorse, and consequently active thought. Doctor Semyonov requested a retest to determine whether SCP-XXXX exhibits learning behavior. Request approved by Administrator Halverson.
Testing Log - 3/10/2019
Subject: Mus musculus (1)
Procedure: Introduce subject to containment chamber and observe remotely.
Results: SCP-XXXX moved towards the subject, stopping at around a meter away and performing two full rotations around it, then pivoting to a 90 degree angle from it. SCP-XXXX remained in this position for two minutes as the subject inspected the lower portion of the wheel. The subject then attempted to mount it, expressing difficulty near the peak. SCP-XXXX rolled to assist it, visibly frightening the animal momentarily. The subject rested upon SCP-XXXX for 7 minutes before awakening and losing interest.
Analysis: Doctor Semyonov concluded that SCP-XXXX is capable of learning based on it's noticeably more cautious behavior. Doctor Manning noted that SCP-XXXX appeared to "scan" the subject even though SCP-XXXX was already familiar with Mus musculus. Doctor Semyonov and Doctor Manning requested a retest with the same subject to determine whether SCP-XXXX scans subjects every reintroduction or if it scans by individual organism on initial introduction. Retest approved by Administrator Halverson.
Testing Log - 3/11/2019
Subject: Exact same subject as the test on 3/10/2019
Procedure: Introduce subject to containment chamber and observe remotely.
Results: SCP-XXXX moved towards the subject, stopping a meter away and immediately pivoting 90 degrees. SCP-XXXX allowed the subject to traverse it once again. After four minutes, the subject lost interest.
Analysis: Doctor Manning and Doctor Semyonov concluded that SCP-XXXX needs to familiarize itself with individual organisms.
Note from Doctor Manning - 3/11/2019
Clearly this object is very docile towards lab mice, but we still need to be sure how it acts towards people in case it breaches containment. Gamma-6 scooped it into a thick steel box from a mile away to be safe when they picked it up, but I'd like to know if we can just walk it back. I'm going to talk to Halverson when he gets back from lunch about asking the 05 about getting a few Class-D shipped over from 19.
Testing Log - 3/26/2019
Subject: D-8926, black male, aged 34.
Procedure: Brief subject on what SCP-XXXX is, then introduce subject to containment chamber. Instruct subject to interact with SCP-XXXX, and if SCP-XXXX remains docile, instruct subject to walk SCP-XXXX around the perimeter of the chamber until SCP-XXXX becomes disinterested and refuses to continue or one hour elapses. After testing, interview subject to confirm that SCP-XXXX does not pose a memetic threat.
Results: D-8926 handled the briefing well and confirmed that he understood what SCP-XXXX is and that it acts autonomously. Upon introduction, D-8926 froze in place as SCP-XXXX rolled towards him. D-8926 queried whether Doctor Manning was certain SCP-XXXX would not trample him. Doctor Manning confirmed that SCP-XXXX had not shown any signs of aggression in the past, and instructed D-8926 to make tactile contact with SCP-XXXX over the intercom. D-8926 complied and touched the top of SCP-XXXX, which proceeded to pivot in place frequently and chaotically for eight seconds. Seven seconds after SCP-XXXX began to move calmly once again, Doctor Manning instructed D-8926 to lead SCP-XXXX around the perimeter of the room repeatedly until further notice. SCP-XXXX followed D-8926 for four minutes until stopping. D-8926 made tactile contact with SCP-XXXX briefly before attempting to continue leading it. SCP-XXXX did not move with D-8926. Doctor Manning instructed D-8926 to physically roll SCP-XXXX around the room. D-8926 complied. SCP-XXXX continued to move with D-8926 for 24 minutes, at which point D-8926 began to show signs of tiredness, and requested a rest. Doctor manning allowed D-8926 to rest briefly. SCP-XXXX continued to move around the perimeter of the room for three minutes until D-8926 stood up, at which SCP-XXXX returned to D-8926. Test terminated to analyze the new behavior presented by SCP-XXXX.
