Test 1 - 04/03/20██
Subject: D-90278
Procedure: D-90278 placed in containment cell (10x10 concrete chamber, metal table and chair placed in room, observed by research staff through one-way mirror) with SCP-4156 placed on center of table. D-90278 was instructed by speaker to perform various actions, such as unplugging SCP-4156, removing its bulb, and turning his back to SCP-4156 on occasion. Test proceeded over the course of one week, with four hours of testing per day.
Results: SCP-4156 showed no reaction to being tampered with for the first three days of testing. However, for the remaining four days, when D-90278 would enter the room, the light bulb would flicker and buzz, akin to a malfunctioning unit. D-90278 expressed annoyance at this, and attempted to unplug SCP-4156, which successfully disabled it. The following day, with no interference from Foundation staff, SCP-4156 was found to be plugged back in and functional. This anomaly was replicated over the following four days, including attempts to remove the lightbulb from SCP-4156, which would be found re-installed after a period of no observation.
Analysis: SCP-4156 seems to only perform "self-repairs" when unobserved, similar to SCP-173's movement relying upon eye contact. Further testing will be performed to explore more possibilities of behavior from SCP-4156.
Test 2 - 04/13/20██
Subject: D-90278
Procedure: D-90278 placed in containment cell (10x10 concrete chamber, metal table and chair placed in room, research staff providing instructions away from observation window) with SCP-4156 placed on center of table. D-90278 once again was provided instructions by speaker. Test proceeded over the course of one week, with four hours of testing per day.
Results: D-90278 provided verbal observations of the activity of SCP-4156. However, anomalous behavior was observed on day one, with the bulb "being annoying" as D-90278 stated, showing more behavior akin to a malfunctioning bulb. At the one hour mark, D-90278 pulled the light bulb out of SCP-4156 and threw it against the far wall of the room, shattering it, and stood from his seat to attempt to convince security staff outside of the testing chamber to take him back to his cell. After approximately five minutes, D-90278 turned from the chamber door and stated that "the lamp has its [EXPLETIVE EXPUNGED] light back."
All shards of glass and debris from the broken bulb had disappeared, and SCP-4156 was fully functional again, continuing faulty behavior. D-90278 was returned to his cell, and testing continued over the remaining days, with D-90278 repeatedly attempting to disable SCP-4156 via destroying various components and growing more noticeably distressed and agitated. But upon being instructed to turn away or close his eyes, when observation resumed, SCP-4156 would return to its original position, fully functional. On day 7, D-90278 entered the testing chamber and immediately threw SCP-4156 against the far wall, destroying its bulb and causing the base to split. D-90278 was restrained and returned to his cell, research staff noted that SCP-4156 was fully repaired and resting on the table the following day.
Analysis: SCP-4156 is clearly unable to be destroyed by conventional means. Though its motives for its harassment are unknown, it seems to be fixated on D-90278, as no staff have observed any anomalous activity when inside the containment chamber. It's possible that SCP-4156 exclusively targets its current "victim" until an unknown goal is reached, although it is currently theorized that goal is the suicide of said victim.
Test 3 - 04/18/20██
Subject: D-90278
Note: We've definitely identified some unique anomalous properties. Lets see how SCP-4156 responds to a more fitting environment for itself, and with a longer exposure period.
Procedure: D-90278 placed in containment cell (12x18 room modeled after a standard modern living room, with all proper furnishings and a functional television with DVD player and DVDs) at 9AM, with SCP-4156 placed on an end table to the side of the sofa. D-90278 is given no instructions, with a single recording device placed on D-90278's person to make observations. D-90278 is to be fed twice, once at 12PM and once at 5PM. Test is to proceed indefinitely.
Results: SCP-4156 displayed more anomalous behavior than usual, with varying patterns of periods of non-behavior, followed by the typical flickering and buzzing (audible over recording) causing verbal irritation from D-90278. D-90278 proceeded to play the 1995 film "Jumanji" at a high volume to attempt to drown out the buzzing. This proceeded for six days, with the buzzing growing in volume over the course of said period of time, peaking when the television was placed at maximum volume on the sixth day. SCP-4156 ceased audible anomalies at this time, instead choosing to proceed with a more varied pattern of flickering lights.
[Data for days 7-120 removed for brevity, for reference of this removed data, refer to Experiment Log 4156.]
On day 121, D-90278 once again begged security staff to not be moved to SCP-4156's containment chamber. After being successfully restrained by assigned security personnel, D-90278 was transported to SCP-4156's chamber and forced inside. D-90278 spent four and a half hours pounding his fists against the door, shouting at security staff to allow him to leave. SCP-4156's activity during this time is unknown, though standard electrical buzzing is heard. After exhausting himself, D-90278 proceeded to smash the television in the room, and [DATA EXPUNGED] with the resulting plastic shards. D-90278's body was retrieved and cremated with no incidents.
Analysis: SCP-4156 showed no sign of response to the suicide of D-90278. It is unknown if suicide of its victim is the end-goal of its anomalous activity, and any attempts to communicate with SCP-4156 and question its motives are still inconclusive. Unknown if SCP-4156 has memetic effects that cause the apparent instability and eventual insanity in its victims, or if it relies on attrition.
Note: Extended exposure to SCP-4156 is no longer permitted. Any further testing is to be done in one week increments, cycling D-Class between these periods. - Site Admin ████████
[Continued testing of SCP-4156 removed for brevity. For reference of this removed data, refer to Experiment Log 4156.]
Test 13 - 09/22/20██
Subject: SCP-4156
Procedure: SCP-4156 is to remain in its containment chamber, unplugged and with its light bulb removed. One standard Foundation security camera is to be installed in the chamber, angled to record SCP-4156 at all times. No personnel are allowed to enter the containment chamber under any circumstances until the test has completed. This test is to proceed indefinitely.
Results: [DATA EXPUNGED] Note: See addendum listed below
Analysis: SCP-4156 appears to grow "angry" when it is unable to function, and appears to be able to manipulate electrical circuits, currents, and electronics around it to a limited degree. Consider the risks of future attempts to observe SCP-4156 during testing.
