Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Keter
Special Containment Procedures: Hospitals and Psychiatric installations are to be monitored for any evidence of SCP-XXXX. Any people believed to be affected by SCP-XXXX are to be brought into Foundation custody for further interviewing. Personnel from those installations are to be amnesticized, and the subject will be declared dead by suicide as a cover up Subjects affected by SCP-XXXX are to be put on suicide watch, and they must not come in to contact with any televisions or other forms of digital entertainment.
Description: SCP-XXXX is the event in which SCP-XXXX-1 manifests. SCP-XXXX-1 is a human male of approximately 1,70 meters in height. Victims of SCP-XXXX-1 describe the figure to be of European descent. Victims notice that SCP-XXXX-1 has significant disfigurements to its face that are frequently described as familiar, though the victims do not seem to recognize SCP-XXXX-1.
SCP-XXXX appears to only occur between 1 AM and 4:30 AM. SCP-XXXX will only happen if the subject has entered the Rapid Eye Movement stage of sleep. Other conditions for a SCP-XXXX event include:
- The subject has not made any human interaction for the past 2 hours before going to sleep, this includes contact via digital means.
- The subject is not in the proximity of another human being, limitations to this are currently being tested.
- The subject falls asleep with a television or any other form of digital entertainment on.
Subjects victim to SCP-XXXX will awake in an ally that is dimly lit, the alley is described to have a strange feeling to it, and subjects will experience distress and paranoia. The subject will feel heavily exhausted and slow in their movement, and feel the need to escape from the alley, slowly proceeding to the nearest exit.
The exits of the alley have a light source similar to a street lantern. These lanterns will [DATA EXPUNGED]. At this point, SCP-XXXX-1 will manifest, and approach the subject. SCP-XXXX-1 will then grab the subject in a non-aggressive way, lay the subject down on the ground, and reassure them that he will take care of them. Any attempts to resist SCP-XXXX-1 fail due to the feeling of defenselessness that the subject experiences against SCP-XXXX-1. This feeling is believed to be one of SCP-XXXX-1's anomalous properties.
After the encounter with SCP-XXXX-1, the subject will fall asleep and wake up, lying on a couch, in a new setting that represents a living room that is lit by a television displaying a static image. SCP-XXXX-1 will then appear in front of the subject, facing the television. Subjects will feel the urge to draw the attention of SCP-XXXX-1 and will address him as "Sir", though the subject will feel that their speech and movement is impaired by a feeling similar to sleep paralysis.
Once the attention of SCP-XXXX-1 is drawn, it will enter an enraged state in which the entity will begin to violently scream at the subject for "Interrupting its show". SCP-XXXX-1 will then begin to attack the subject by [DATA EXPUNGED]. After this, SCP-XXXX-1 will regain its composure. SCP-XXXX-1 will then proceed to sew the mouth of the subject with a thread made out of a form of Chitin.
After the mouth of the subject is sewn, SCP-XXXX-1 will continue to watch the television.
After approximately 30 minutes of the attack by SCP-XXXX-1, the subject will wake up in the place that they fell asleep. Any damage dealt by SCP-XXXX-1 will seem to not be present, with exception to the victim's mouth being sewn shut. Attempts to remove the thread have proven successful, and will not affect the subject.
2-3 days after the encounter with SCP-XXXX, subjects who are observing a television will see the same static screen they saw in the room with SCP-XXXX-1. This static screen will not be observable by others.
After 7 days of the encounter with SCP-XXXX, subjects will begin seeing SCP-XXXX-1 in the corner of their eye and begin to show signs of paranoia and PTSD.
After 10 days of the encounter with SCP-XXXX, subjects will have the feeling that their mouth is sewn shut and enter a state of Manic depression, often attempting suicide.
Discovery: SCP-XXXX was discovered by Foundation personnel conducting a routine check of patients administered into psychiatric installations. A case of a man who showed signs of extreme paranoia, and who had his mouth sewn shut caught eye of a Foundation staff member and the man was brought in to Foundation custody for further evaluation. Members of the installation who were involved with the subject were amnesticized under standard procedure, and the subject was declared dead with cause of suicide as a cover-up.
The subject was later identified as Jacob Conen, age 21, and was interviewed as a follow up of his Foundation custody. For the interview of the subject see Addendum XXXX-01
