Doctor Shelby

Threat Level: Yellow

Item #: SCP-5079

Object Class: Euclid

Important

Following the events described in 5079-7, all research personnel working on SCP-5079 are required to attend psychological evaluation at least once every two weeks. All Foundation personnel who interact with SCP-5079 research personnel are also instructed to report if they believe any of SCP-5079's research personnel appear to be acting differently than usual. All new personnel instructed to work on SCP-5079 need to be psychologically diagnosed with a mental fortitude of above average.

— Dr.███████ █████

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-5079 is to be located within a 3m by 3m room at a remote wing of Site 15. The minimum amount of people are to be in close proximity with SCP-5079 at all times (be it within or outside its containment room), as such there is no security stationed in front of SCP-5079’s room and all research personnel must report whenever they go to the observation room1. A maximum of 3 research personnel are to be allowed into the observation room, being of clearance Level 2 or above and only if formerly approved by Site 15 Level 4 Dr.███████ █████. Due to the nature of SCP-5079 anomalous activity (see description), and to ensure that it doesn’t escape, a room adjacent to SCP-5079’s containment room has been built and is inhabited by at least 3 D-class personnel2, designated as the "Rec-room". When a D-class becomes affected by SCP-5079 he is to be transfered to the containment room and the other D-class personnel in the Rec-room are to be administered amnestics. A new D-class is also to be transfered to the Rec-room.

Description: The physical appearance, if it even possesses one, of SCP-5079 is currently unknown. The current understanding of SCP-5079 corresponds to it being an entity capable of jumping between human’s consciousness, however, it only does so after the human it had been possessing dies. There have been no known instances of a person being possessed by SCP-5079’s anomalous properties having survived and as such the SCP is considered extremely dangerous. Attempts to kill, or at least disrupt, SCP-5079 have been carried out by terminating D-class personnel who had been possessed by it, to no avail. SCP-5079 jumps to a new consciousness whether the person it had been possessing dies from its anomalous properties or from external forces. When someone is subjected to SCP-5079’s anomalous properties his entire thinking capability seizes. People subjected to SCP-5079 seize all physical or mental capabilities, aside from sporadically twitching their fingers and continuously doing a chewing motion with their jaw. These instances have, so far, been the only identifying characteristics someone subjected to SCP-5079 displays.
SCP-5079 was first discovered on ██/██/████ after staff member of Site 17, Dr.███████, was found in his office twitching his fingers agaisnt the table and chewing uncontrollably. Medical staff of Site 17 believed Dr.███████ was suffering from some sort of mental affliction, most likely acute psychosis, and placed him in the medical ward of the facility. A few hours after Dr.███████ was interned security footage show him dying (his heart and brain activity simply seized) and, immediately after the doctors death, one of the guards stationed near the medical ward became afflicted with the same “acute psychosis” Dr.███████ had been suffering.
After this second instance the first suspicions of anomalous activity where denoted and the afflicted guard was placed in containment. Further studies ended up concluding that, after someone possessed by SCP-5079 dies, the SCP possesses whomever is nearest to him. This characteristic led to the construction of a separate wing within Site 15, containing all the specifications listed in SCP-5079’s special containment procedures.

Addendum 5079-1: After approval by Site 15 Level 4 Dr.███████ █████, scans to the brains of subjects affected by SCP-5079 were initiated, however, a strange fenomenon occured after the first couple of instances. The first two scans showed that the subjects brains had, despite their apparent coma, an high level of activity.3 However, after those two initial scans they begun demonstrating a further anomalous ocurrence designated as SCP-5079-1. All screens connected to the brain scanning devices of SCP-5079's victims now display video footage of the victims 'life'. It appears SCP-5079's main anomalous occurence consists in it transfering the conciousness of whomever he is possessing to an alternate reality, perhaps even an alternate universe. The fact that SCP-5079-1 didn't occur within the first couple of scans leads to the assumption that SCP-5079 might be capable of some level of sentience and adaptability.
Further studies are required.

Addendum 5079-2: Aditional D-class personnel have been possessed by SCP-5079's anomalous activity and further scans have also been carried out. The video files collected from those scans4 seem to show consistencies between all of the subjects. After coming in contact with SCP-5079's anomalous activity their consciousnesses are all transfered to the same place/plane. In this 'place' there is a small island5 with small patches of grass, a big apple tree and a small (seemingly man-made) fountain. An interesting characteristic to note is that the apples from the tree are golden in colour and seem to dimly shine when exposed to sunlight. All subjects have so far been transported to this 'place' with full knowledge of their lives and remembering several details up until the moment SCP-5079 came into contact with them.

Addendum 5079-3: After request from Site 15 Level 4 Dr.███████ █████, in an effort to make reports more intuitive and easy to read (lazy fuck… like any of this mess is "intuitive and easy to read").Actually, I'm surprised he even reads these., people subjected to the anomalous effects of SCP-5079 are now designated as SCP-5079-ADAM.
An interesting fenomenon has been studied over the last couple of weeks. It appears that, as long as SCP-5079-ADAM is connected to any kind of scanning device, the video footage resulting from SCP-5079-1 continues to update6. The size of the videos recorded from the various SCP-5079-ADAM is massive, each ranging for thousands of hours [equivalent to a few dozen years], and a new server is currently being installed in the observation room to store said videos. Fast fowarding through the videos, we have denoted a common occurence between all of them. Counting the ammount of video hours and the age of SCP-5079-ADAM (before they were possessed by SCP-5079) we have discovered that SCP-5079-ADAM dies once its age in the SCP-5079 'plain' reaches 7 months and 77 years.
New directives will now be given to SCP-5079-ADAM in an attempt to further understand SCP-5079's nature and capabilities.

Addendum 5079-4:

Addendum 5079-5: Newer D-class personnel (preferably between the ages of 18 and 25) are to be accommodated in the room adjacent to SCP-5079's containment room (so as to ensure any SCP-5079-ADAM "lasts longer"). By request of SCP-5079's main researcher, Dr.██████.

Addendum 5079-6: Several weeks have passed and all further studies led to conclusions previously discovered. It appears we have found everything we can about SCP-5079. I have requested to be allocated to a different project within the facility but Dr.███████ █████ thinks its best I remain as the main researcher of SCP-5079.

Addendum 5079-7:

Interview log 5079-A:
Interview carried out by SCP-5079's new lead researcher, Dr.███, upon granted request from the O5 council. Interviewee: SCP-343. Location of Interview: SCP-343’s containment room.
