Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX Is to be kept in standard anomalous object storage at Site-19. The item itself poses no danger to site-personnel, as long as the object is not placed upon the heads of any humanoid entities, though the risk of coming into contact with the head of any Foundation Personnel is great enough that interactions with SCP-XXXX is forbidden without Level-3 Clearance or higher.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a large Victorian era top hat constructed primarily from iron, measuring 24cm in height and 13cm in width. However, the band circling the hat is still comprised mostly of leather. The hat has rusted to an extent reasonable for it's age. A small stamp on the interior of the hat states that it was created in 1897, towards the end of the Victorian era. The creator of the hat is named as: Sir Arthur Davenport, but after searches by foundation agents, no other hats of a similar model have been recovered.
The objects primary anomalous effect was discovered during recovery by foundation agents. Recovery is detailed below in recovery log Delta-XXXX. The main effect of SCP-XXXX, referred to hereafter as SCP-XXXX-A is a permanent resizing of the head, so that the hat fits perfectly on the head.
Notably, the hat resizes skin and internal organs of the subject that It comes onto contact with, but the skull and jaw remain unaffected. Whereas this would usually kill or inflict serious harm on the wearer, the hat seems to keep the wearer alive and free of pain, but this secondary effect ceases shortly after removal of the hat primarily resulting in termination of the wearer.
Addendum: Recovery Log Delta-XXXX After rumors of corpses with impossibly sized heads in north-west Europe reached the foundation, field agents were dispatched to the region to investigate. On April 25, 2018 foundation personnel had tracked the source to an abandoned factory in ██████, Denmark.
