(TW: Suicide, Stalking)
Object Class: Keter
Special Containment Procedure: At this time, containment of this one is almost impossible. Instances seem to generate spontaneously and randomly. If an instance is located, the subject being followed by (Number One Crush) is to be taken into Foundation custody and terminated immediately. All associates of the subject are to be given amnestics, and their homes, social media, and personal digital devices are to be scrubbed of any evidence of the subject of the possession. (This segment needs work)
At present, the Foundation has one individual of interest in custody (see Case #1349) who is actively under possession by (Number One Crush). He is to be contained in normal lodgings consistent with latest guidelines under the Subjects Bill Of Rights (Agent note: As of the last council meeting, this order was repealed and we can stop pretending this guy deserves luxury treatment. Put him in a standard cell and take away that fucking record player. Nobody needs to hear that stupid fucking song on repeat all the time. Just make sure he doesn't have anything to hurt himself with)
The Foundation needs to actively monitor online video content for instances, as well as keep tabs on possible subjects suspected of possession by instances of it. (Agent Note: We are currently developing a psych profile on these losers. This SCP definitely has a type.)
Description: It's a roughly 5ft - 9inch humanoid figure in a black shirt, black jeans, and black boots. It wears a rubber Halloween mask vaguely resembling a bird skull. It can be seen most frequently in the background of online livestreams, though it can also be captured in recorded video, still photos, etc.
There is little known about the origins of it, though the first instance known to the Foundation appeared in 1995 in between frames of the broadcast of a music video by ███████. Since then instances have been frequent and hard to detect. Usually, subjects being actively possessed by this SCP are unaware and tend to believe they are acting independently out of free will.
Thus far, the Foundation has identified conditions which must occur to attract an instance of possession, and stages through which the subject then progresses.
Conditions: In every identified instance of (Number One Crush), the subject of possession becomes obsessed some time before the instance appears. For example, in Case #1349 (Subject currently in Foundation Custody) the subject of possession was already stalking Ms.███████ for over two years (from 20██ - 20██) . Subject's obsession with Ms.███████ escalated to him attending every one of her live performances in 20██. The believed turning point in most cases appears to be when the subject begins violating the personal/private life of their object of affection. In Case #1349, this occurred the first time the subject broke into Ms.███████'s home. The first recorded instance of (Number One Crush) in this case appeared shortly thereafter in the background of a photo of the subject, taken by his friend Mr. ███████ on ██-██-20██.
ANALYSIS: Stages of Possession
Stage 1 - Pre-Possession - Subject develops unhealthy obsession with an artist, musician, or other type of performer or artist. The object of obsession (called "the Object" hereafter for simplicity) does not have to be "famous" (Agent Note: Or even popular/talented). The Subject begins obsessively attending performances or events hosted by the Object and begins obsessively collecting information and memorabilia of them.
Stage 2 - Crossing the Boundary
At some point, the Subject is no longer satisfied with socially acceptable forms of fandom, and they endeavor to access the private space or personal property of the Object. This is believed to be the point where (Number One Crush) is manifested. This does not require entrance into the residence of the Object. In one occurrence, the Subject broke into their Object's vehicle and stole their lip balm. In another, the Subject hacked the social media account of the Object just to read their private messages. The only requirement is that the privacy of the Object be violated in an intentional way by the Subject.
Stage 3 - First Appearance
Within 24 hours of the actions described in the previous step, the Subject will begin to experience instances of (Number One Crush)-01. The Foundation is unsure of how often these occur, and researchers suspect it may take less than 24 hours for the first instances of (Number One Crush)-01 to appear, but often the Subject is unaware of them for extended periods of time, and sometimes the Subject remains entirely unaware until a third party identifies an instance.
Stage 4 - Attempted Contact
Stage 5 - Violence
Stage 6 - Termination

Special Containment Procedure: The Foundation is currently seeking to acquire ownership of (It Eats People). At present it is owned by ███████, which may be a front for an Are We Cool Yet? operation. The premises is protected by a 3 meter high razorwire fence, and main gate is closed with a heavy chain and double padlocked. The doors to the building are heavy steel. Although they appear to require keys for entry, it is often reported that the doors are randomly unlocked. When acquired, the Foundation has plans to weld shut all known entrances except the main door. The main door would require a triple-chamber airlock with 5-inch thick steel doors between each segment. Security clearance would be acquired for entrance. Anyone who enters the building is required to use Theseus protocols with a range of at least 1,000 meters.
Description: (It Eats People) is a 4-6 story red brick factory building located in the ███████ neighborhood of Baltimore, Maryland. It takes up a full city block. There is a parking lot just inside the fencing, and a few rows of garden boxes sit in a somewhat grassy area behind the building. There is a small detached shed in the back as well. The property is adjacent to a train yard on the south side, and several blocks of abandoned properties surround it. The property appears abandoned at first glance, but upon further inspection eyewitnesses report seeing figures moving in the windows and lights turning on and off.
The building has been known to be home to a variety of artists and anarchists since the 1970s. It was a well-known location for illegal raves through the end of the 1990s.
(It Eats People) first came to the attention of the Foundation in 1993, after the disappearance of a well-known recording artist who frequented in the building (add documents in addendums). Since this time, a number of mysterious deaths and disappearances have encouraged the majority of residents to leave, and entertainment events no longer take place in the building. Currently, the Foundation knows of at least 8 individuals who still reside in the property. Their exact residence locations, however, are unknown, and agents have only been able to locate an occupied apartment once during a mission in the building.
The city archives claim the building was constructed in 1897 by ███████, and was originally used for manufacturing. This is however, in dispute, as photographic evidence shows the building as standing on that location at least half a century prior. Carbon-dating of samples taken from the interior of the building remains inconclusive, as it shows structural elements to be anywhere from several days to thousands of years old.
It is unknown how many floors, wings, and rooms the building has. From the exterior, the building appears to be between 4 and 6 stories, depending on what wing of the building you look at. Agents who have explored the interior report climbing as many as 23 consecutive flights of stairs in one stairwell, starting from what they believed was the ground floor. The building has 3 known entrances - designations A, B, and F. There is record of there being at least 4 other entrances at various points in the past. Entering through the A and B doors tends to deliver visitors to consistent starting locations, but once inside the building, all spatial consistency is lost. The F door tends to deliver visitors to one of three recognizable locations, including the “mail room”.
Longtime residents of the building warn visitors to stay in the areas closest to the exterior A and B doors, and the B wing is the only wing that consistently shows signs of habitation.
