Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures:
SCP-XXXX-1 is to be kept in a standard containment chamber. SCP-XXXX-1 is to be fully covered by a piece of non-translucent carbon fiber at all times. Camera surveillance has to be present in the containment chamber, but placed such that the immediate surroundings of SCP-XXXX-1 are being constantly monitored, but SCP-XXXX-1 itself is to remain out of frame at all times. The cover of SCP-XXXX-1 is to be weighed down by no less than four (4) magnetic elements, each exerting no less than 10 kiloNewtons (kN) of pressure.

Any sounds emanating from SCP-XXXX-1 are to be ignored. Any person attempting to uncover SCP-XXXX-1 is to be restrained, removed from the vicinity of the containment area, and to be administered amnestics.

Description:
Hereafter no mention will be made to SCP-XXXX as this is an overarching term encompassing all components of this SCP and serves no further purpose in this document.

SCP-XXXX-1 is an old, Victorian-era mirror standing over 3 meters (9.84ft) tall. Any sentient entity viewing the mirror surface of SCP-XXXX-1 is instantly and seemingly irrevocably transferred to a separate realm, hereafter referred to as SCP-XXXX-2. This transportation is not clearly visible to external observers, as in essence anyone viewing SCP-XXXX-1 will switch places with their mirror image in SCP-XXXX-1. Sounds can occasionally be heard emanating from SCP-XXXX-1. These sounds are almost always of a chorus singing off-key, and will last from two (2) to fifteen (15) minutes. At present these sounds appear to have no purpose other than to draw attention to SCP-XXXX-1, and thus lure people into SCP-XXXX-2.

SCP-XXXX-2 is a realm seemingly identical to the reality outside of the mirror, except being mirrored from the perspective of SCP-XXXX-1. Areas of SCP-XXXX-2 that are viewable from any mirror in 'our reality' appear as mirror images of the environment of that mirror, and are identically lit. Any area of SCP-XXXX-2 that is invisible to any mirror in 'our reality' however is inexplicably absent of light. People trapped within SCP-XXXX-2 will still have their mirror image appear in our reality, although this mirror image cannot be interacted with by any means and will disappear whenever the corresponding person leaves the visibility of a mirror.

This aspect - that is that items within our reality that are but reflections of objects in SCP-XXXX-2, also works inversely: no object in SCP-XXXX-2 is solid except the floor, and objects in SCP-XXXX-2 that originate from our reality. Consequently any person entering SCP-XXXX-2 is to be considered lost, as it is impossible to provide sustenance to people trapped within SCP-XXXX-2 without trapping another person in SCP-XXXX-2

SCP-XXXX-2 is seemingly inhabited by sentient and hostile entities, hereafter referred to as instances of SCP-XXXX-3. Instances of SCP-XXXX-3 seem to avoid lit areas in SCP-XXXX-2, that is areas of SCP-XXXX-2 that are visible from a mirror.

SCP-XXXX-3 appear humanoid, each instance wearing an identical, featureless black cloth. The face of an instance of SCP-XXXX-3 resembles that of a deformed human. Instances of SCP-XXX-3 perpetually leave trails of a thick, black fluid, constantly dripping from their nostrils, eye sockets and mouths. The eyes of instances of SCP-XXXX-3 possess no irises, and but a tiny pupil. Instances of SCP-XXXX-3 appear to possess no legs, and at times appear more like sliding busts than they do living entities.

When catching sight of a human being, instances of SCP-XXXX-3 will gather at the edge of any lit area that said human being may be seeking shelter in until the human either a) expires, at which point instances of SCP-XXXX-3 will lose interest; b) the human comes close to an instance of SCP-XXXX-3, at which point instances of SCP-XXXX-3 will drag the person into the darkness; or c) the mirror providing light is (re)moved or covered, in which case instances of SCP-XXXX-3 will rush in and overpower the person where they stand. What happens to individuals taken by instances of SCP-XXXX-3 is not known.

SCP-XXXX-1 was recovered from a storage container in ██████, England on the 14th of March, 20██. The container was previously owned by a Mr. Ernest ██████, though the only official records containing such a name date back to 18██. Foundation agents were alerted to the scene after all attendees and organizers of an auction, held two days prior to recovery of SCP-XXXX-1, had inexplicably gone missing. Three (3) agents were trapped within SCP-XXXX-2 during recovery.

During recovery, a note was found hidden under SCP-XXXX-1:

Document: SCP-XXXX-a
Mirror, mirror, on the wall
Look into me, and you will fall
No safety ye shall find in me
For without warning ye will be
Lost to the land that God forgot
A blank canvas that he left to rot
Avoid the lurkers of the dark
They fear the reflection's mark
Heed this poem's warning or ye will be
████████████████████████ Lucy

████████████████████████████
███████help █████purple moonlight
Farewell, prisoner of the endless night

Addendum:
At present it is not known what will happen when SCP-XXXX-1 is introduced to SCP-093. Given the risk of potentially exposing our reality to SCP-XXXX-3, such a test is at present forbidden without direct approval of site director Stevens.
