Special Containment Procedures: All instances of SCP-XXXX are kept in an enclosed woodland habitat. To sustain instances of SCP-XXXX, the ceiling must be made out of glass to allow SCP-XXXX access to direct sunlight.

Only personnel with Level 2 authorization or higher may be permitted inside SCP-XXXX's enclosure. When inside of SCP-XXXX’s enclosure, personnel must not come in contact with, injure, or remove any instance of SCP-XXXX unless authorized.

As of 8/25/19, the walls of SCP-XXXX's enclosure are to be inspected daily for any damage. If any damage is found, it should be repaired as soon as possible. The number of SCP-XXXX instances must be monitored closely and kept under 100.

Description: SCP-XXXX is an anomalous colony of Sciurus carolinensis1. Instances SCP-XXXX displays a higher level of intelligence than the standard for their species. Currently, there are 99 living instances of SCP-XXXX in containment.

Autopsies performed on SCP-XXXX have shown a complete lack of internal digestive organs, with the cells comprising SCP-XXXX's fur and skin containing chlorophyll and other structures found in algae, plants, and lichen.

While typically docile, if a group of SCP-XXXX is threatened, they will attack the aggressive party, utilizing swarm tactics to attach themselves to the aggressor with teeth and claws. When an SCP-XXXX instance has latched onto a victim, it can be extremely difficult to get it off.

When an instance of SCP-XXXX expires, other instances in its community will perform a burial. Within 3-6 days, a specimen of Pinus Taeda2(Designated SCP-XXXX-1) will grow from the burial mound and mature to a fully grown tree over the next 6 days. The fully matured SCP-XXXX-1 instance will grow 10-15 SCP-XXXX instances in place of seeds. The SCP-XXXX instances will detach from SCP-XXXX-1 and unite with the rest of SCP-XXXX. Once all SCP-XXXX instances have detached themselves from SCP-XXXX-1, SCP-XXXX-1 will dematerialize.

SCP-XXXX instances communicate through gestures and crude noises. In an attempt to understand SCP-XXXX better, a list of known gestures/noises and their meanings have been listed below.

Hissing noise with arched back and tail tense. Unfriendly warning. The instance is about to attack.
Long squeal and backing up. Instance feels threatened.
Short squeal. Instance was momentarily scared.
Waving front-foot towards themselves. The instance is inviting you to come closer.
Raised front-foot, with middle claw sticking up. Basic insult.
Mouth open, sitting straight up. Wants some sunlight.
Several short barks in succession. Laughter.
Three squeals in quick succession. Help/In danger.
Sitting straight up, with arms outstretched. Instance wants something.
Clapping front feet together. Instance is happy.
