The Ashen Pot
Item #: SCP-6157 - The Ashen Pot
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures:
SCP-3130 is to be kept in a sealed room without ventilation. Access to SCP-3130 is restricted to at least Level 2 Access. No further containment is necessary.
Description:
SCP-6157 is a brass vessel with a capacity of 9.4L, standing 26cm tall with a bottom diameter of 18cm. The vessel is adorned with etchings depicting the Egyptian God Ra. Placement of any object or substance inside SCP-6157 are converted to sand or ash by unknown processes. Testing of this ash shows that organic matter placed in SCP-6157 produces fine particles of silicon dioxide of irregular crystalline structure (referred to as SCP-6157-S), and inorganic matter produces ash of organic origin, similar to cremains (referred to as SCP-6157-C). DNA sequencing of this ash does not match any documented life form or SCP. The amount of ash or sand produced is always equal to the mass of the object or substance placed inside SCP-6157, and the conversion rate is always a constant 100 grams per hour, regardless of the substance introduced. This process is accelerated if a living creature is inserted, instead occurring almost immediately. Substance must contact inner walls of the vessel or content produced by the vessel in order to undergo conversion.

Researcher Dr. Mark Galloway overseeing research of SCP-6157. Experiment involved inserting three live mice into the vessel. Dr. Galloway observed the form of the rats being immediately converted to SCP-6157-S before collapsing into a heap. Vessel emptied into a separate jar for further testing of SCP-6157-S.
Following previous experiment, Dr. Galloway fixed a constant flow of 100 mL of distilled water per hour into the Vessel. Dr. Galloway and two other researchers regularly observed SCP-6157 until it reached capacity. Once the vessel's 9.4L capacity was reached, the contained sample of SCP-6157-C was violently ejected into the air, as to clear the vessel for more content to be converted. Once cloud of SCP-6157-C had cleared, researcher present was found buried under the ash, deceased and bleeding profusely from the eyes. SCP-6157-C classified as a hemorrhagic toxin. Autopsy of researcher showed the tissue of the lungs and brain had been converted to a waxy amorphous solid similar to petroleum jelly. Substance labelled as SCP-6157-J. Sample gathered and awaiting testing.

Researcher Dr. Mark Galloway overseeing research of SCP-6157. Two D-Class personnel brought in for tests, one male one female. Female ordered to shave head and insert hair into vessel. Mass of hair recorded at 53 grams. Once inserted, hair was converted into SCP-6157-S, reaching completion in precisely 31 minutes and 48 seconds.
Following this test, male ordered to insert hand into vessel. Galloway observed the D-Class's entire hand immediately converted to SCP-6157-S, conversion ceasing at the wrist with the wound immediately being closed with no observed blood loss. Subject did not react to the conversion and stated not feeling anything upon conversion of his hand. Vessel emptied into dish, to where subject was instructed to ingest the sample of SCP-6157-S. Subject complied and consumed the sample, and subsequently started seizing and bleeding from the eyes, dying within two minutes. Body resembled hemorrhaging similar to the researcher of previous experiment. Autopsy showed the subject's brain and digestive tract had been converted to SCP-6157-J.
Contents of the vessel collected and sealed inside a glass jar for further testing. Vessel stored inside item locker, access restricted to Level 2.

Dr. Mark Galloway retrieved SCP-6157 for testing. Galloway proceeded to fumble the vessel after tripping over ██████. A small plume of SCP-6157-S was inhaled by Galloway, who was found dead soon that day. SCP-6157-S sample theorized to be converted from dust buildup. Autopsy shows Galloway's brain and digestive tract converted to SCP-6157-J. Vessel ordered to be stored in sealed room without ventilation in order to prevent "passive generation" of SCP-6157-S or SCP-6157-C.
