Special Containment Procedures: There is currently no method to contain SCP-XXXX-1 within a containment chamber. In order to keep SCP-XXXX-1 in containment, four members of SCP-XXXX-2 are to be kept on standby in Site-██ and Site-██, with two subjects in each facility. All SCP-XXXX-2 individuals are to be kept in a two-way containment chamber equipped with live-feed security feeds to adjacent corridors and a constant line of communication with each other. One of the SCP-XXXX-2 subjects must be the target of SCP-XXXX-1. The facility with the targeted subject is to have each member of SCP-XXXX-2 alternate in shifts to monitor CCTV feeds for signs of SCP-XXXX-1. Upon sighting SCP-XXXX-1, the target and one member of SCP-XXXX-2 from the opposite facility are to use the communication lines to engage in Procedure-XXXX-B. When the procedure is completed, the SCP-XXXX-2 subjects within the facility of SCP-XXXX-1 are to report whether or not the entity is leaving the facility.

In the event that SCP-XXXX-1 does not leave the facility, or in an event where communication with other SCP-XXXX-2 subjects becomes unavailable, all SCP-XXXX-2 subjects in the facility with SCP-XXXX-1 are to evacuate via the secondary exit in the containment chamber and proceed to [DATA EXPUNGED] for immediate withdrawal. If SCP-XXXX-1 successfully catches a targeted SCP-XXXX-2 subject, a containment breach is to be declared.

Description: SCP-XXXX-1 is a humanoid entity estimated to be roughly 5’10” in height. The entity is only visible to members of SCP-XXXX-2, however reports from SCP-XXXX-2 subjects have all described the humanoid of wearing a black business suit and pants with a yellow tie. A leather hangman’s hood covers the subject’s head, and appears to be completely grafted into the flesh on the neck. Where the face would be located, a yellow smiley face has been painted on the hood. While SCP-XXXX-1 can only be perceived by members of SCP-XXXX-2, the humanoid entity is fully capable of interacting with objects in its surrounding, and objects physically manipulated by SCP-XXXX-1 are observable by anyone.

SCP-XXXX-2 refers to human subjects who are potential targets for SCP-XXXX-1. Members of SCP-XXXX-2 are fully aware of SCP-XXXX-1’s presence, and are able to perceive the entity even when they are not the current target. Aside from perception of SCP-XXXX-1 and the potential to be the entity's next/current target, members of SCP-XXXX-2 display no further anomalous properties. It should be noted that anybody is capable of becoming a SCP-XXXX-2 instance.

In order for someone to to become a SCP-XXXX-2 instance, they must complete Procedure-XXXX-A¹. Individuals who successfully complete Procedure-XXXX-A report hearing childish giggling coming from an unknown point of origin upon completion. From this point on, the individual or group of persons are hereby designated as instances of SCP-XXXX-2, and are to be kept on standby for containment of SCP-XXXX-1.

SCP-XXXX-1 will always be in pursuit of a single designated instance of SCP-XXXX-2, even in circumstances where multiple SCP-XXXX-2 instances are around the target (SCP-XXXX-1 will ignore all other subjects and focus its attention on the target). SCP-XXXX-1 seems to only be capable of locomotion on par with the average human, and as such will typically pursue its target either by walking, or in situations where it is within close proximity, running. SCP-XXXX-1 is also capable of becoming exhausted from prolonged physical exertion, and as such those who are physically fit have a chance of outrunning SCP-XXXX-1. However, certain situations may arise where SCP-XXXX-1 will demonstrate superhuman strength of varying degrees.²

In the event that a target is unable to be reached by conventional methods, SCP-XXXX-1 will temporarily cease direct pursuit in order to seek out and obtain tools (or in rare cases vehicles) needed in order to reach its target. SCP-XXXX-1 has also demonstrated proficiency in cracking locks (including complex and electronic ones) and bypassing any barrier blocking its path from the target. No known methods have been discovered that can keep SCP-XXXX-1 from reaching its target. SCP-XXXX-1 does not appear, however, to be capable of teleportation, and must cross all distances via non-anomalous methods.

Upon reaching its victim, SCP-XXXX-1 will extend its right hand and touch the SCP-XXXX-2 subject. When physical contact is made, the SCP-XXXX-2 subject will immediately evaporate into black smoke, leaving only the heart behind³. SCP-XXXX-1 will then take the heart of the (presumably deceased) subject and store it within its business suit. At this point, a new target will be chosen at random, and SCP-XXXX-1 will proceed to pursue them. SCP-XXXX-2 individuals who are the current target of SCP-XXXX-1 report all their dreams contain SCP-XXXX-1. Subjects report that their dreams become interrupted by SCP-XXXX-1 presenting itself and proceeding to chase the target. In cases where SCP-XXXX-1 catches and makes physical contact with the target within their dreams, the target claim to awaken at this point.

Discovery: SCP-XXXX came to the foundation’s attention in November of 2014. Agent Mcallister was visiting his family for Thanksgiving in [REDACTED], Kansas. The agent reported that his nephew, 19-year-old █████ McCallister, told his uncle that he believed he was being stalked by a “weird-looking man with a sack over his head”. Later on in the evening, Agent McCallister reported that his nephew became hysterical and ran from his bedroom, claiming the man was climbing through the window. Shortly afterwards, the agent claims his nephew vanished in a cloud of smoke, with only the heart being left visible for a short moment before levitating into the air and vanishing completely.

Agent McCallister reported the incident to foundation personnel, who dispatched a field team to investigate. A review of the victim’s laptop revealed █████ had frequently visited the /r/creepypasta subreddit, which led to the discovery of SCP-XXXX. One page in the internet browser’s history revealed a thread on the subreddit titled “Mr. It’s Game of Tag”, inviting people to play a game of tag with the eponymous entity. This was followed by a description of Procedure-XXXX-A, Procedure-XXXX-B, and a set of rules.⁴ The post ended with the author wishing players good luck in the game.

The foundation proceeded to access Reddit's servers, deleting the thread from the website and obtaining a list of all IP addresses of those who visited the thread. Field teams then tracked down all persons who visited the thread under the guise of FBI agents investigating a possible serial killer. Individuals who have been confirmed to be SCP-XXXX-2 instances have been detained.

Addendum #1: In order for an individual or group of individuals to become an instance of SCP-XXXX-2, they must first complete Procedure-XXXX-A. The following details the procedure:

1. The subject must wear a mask resembling a yellow smiley face. Said mask does not need to be affixed to the subject’s head, and can simply be held up so that it covers their face. The mask can be constructed from any material.
2. The subject must repeat the following lines verbatim whilst standing:

I swear an oath that this mind permits, to the rules of the catcher I shall submit.
The world shall be our playing ground, where prey and hunter shall be bound.
The catcher seeks as one shall hide, he casts the other children aside.
Never shall he rest as he closes this gap, ‘til the child of misfortune lays their own trap.
He’ll snatch the child with his claws, where they’ll forever be locked in the reaper’s maw.
And thus the game begins again; the children, the hunter, the taker of men.

Thus I stand to make my vow, to the game of shadows I shall partake.
And should I be caught in his cold hands, my breath and life I shall forsake.

Following completion of the above steps, the subject or subjects will hear childish giggling coming from an unknown source. From this point on, all individuals who completed Procedure-XXXX-A will be considered members of SCP-XXXX-2.

Addendum #2: The following is a set of rules that SCP-XXXX must abide by (as outlined in the original online post):

1. SCP-XXXX-1 will always be moving towards a member of SCP-XXXX-2.
2. SCP-XXXX-2 members are unable to cease being SCP-XXXX-2 instances, unless they expire.
3. SCP-XXXX-1 has no obstacle that can permanently impede its progress towards its target.
4. The current target of SCP-XXXX-1 has only one method to cause SCP-XXXX-1 to cease its pursuit of them (referred to as Procedure-XXXX-B):
   1. The target member of SCP-XXXX-2 must recite the following line verbatim to another member of SCP-XXXX-2: The chains of my fears I now omit; ready thyself, for now you’re it!
   2. Upon completion of this line, the second individual of SCP-XXXX-2 will become the new target of SCP-XXXX-1. The new target must wait at least 48 hours before they can recite the line to another SCP-XXXX-2 member.

+ Incident Reports

Incident-XXXX-A: On January 3, 2015, an attempt was made to contain SCP-XXXX-1 at Site-██.⁵ Site Director O’Conner had approved construction of a 10 x 3 meter corridor in the heavy containment wing. Said corridor had two blast doors on both ends, each 1 meter thick and constructed of steel. SCP-XXXX-2-5, who was at the time the current target of SCP-XXXX-1, was given a tablet linked to several security cameras in hallways leading to the containment corridor. SCP-XXXX-2-5 was instructed to lure SCP-XXXX-1 through the hallway, at which point Security Chief Thompson would remotely activate the blast doors to contain SCP-XXXX-1. At 13:45, SCP-XXXX-2-5 reported spotting SCP-XXXX-1 on the security feed. At 13:47, SCP-XXXX-2-5 escaped through the northern doorway, informing Security Chief Thompson via walkie-talkie that SCP-XXXX-1 was entering the containment chamber. The blast doors were remotely sealed, and SCP-XXXX-2-5 reported that he could see SCP-XXXX-1 inside the chamber via the camera feed.

SCP-XXXX-2-5 informed security personnel that SCP-XXXX-1 appeared to be looking around its containment chamber before walking up to the northern blast door. SCP-XXXX-1 then proceeded to begin punching the blast door for approximately 3 minutes and 32 seconds. At this point, a hole had been punctured through the northern blast door. SCP-XXXX-2-5 became hysterical at this point, proceeding to flee through the heavy containment zone of Site-██. Security feed monitoring the containment chamber shows the northern blast door being peeled back from the point of the puncture until a hole sizeable enough for a person to squeeze through had been made. It is assumed that SCP-XXXX-1 crawled through the breach and resumed pursuit of SCP-XXXX-2-5.

Incident-XXXX-B: At 13:48 on December ██, 2015, SCP-XXXX-1 entered Site-██ and began to make its way towards the panic room of SCP-XXXX-2-38 (who was one of two SCP-XXXX-2 instances currently stationed for containment procedures). SCP-XXXX-2-38 attempted to reach SCP-XXXX-2-54 at Site-B to initiate containment procedures, but failed. At the discretion of Site Director Campbell, on-site security officers proceeded towards the containment chamber of SCP-XXXX-2-38 and stationed themselves inside the blast door. SCP-XXXX-2-38 was provided with a dart gun with the purpose of shooting a tag at SCP-XXXX-1 upon its entry to mark its location to the security personnel.

When SCP-XXXX-1 breached the containment chamber, SCP-XXXX-2-38 successfully tagged the humanoid entity. All security officers present began opening fire on SCP-XXXX-1. Security footage within the chamber shows that a black gaseous substance was seen “bleeding” from supposed bullet wounds on the entity, but this did nothing to slow its progress. SCP-XXXX-1 proceeded to make physical contact with SCP-XXXX-2-38, whereupon the subject dissipated into black smoke, leaving only the heart behind. Following this, the tracer dart embedded into SCP-XXXX-1 was flung across the room before the heart was collected by SCP-XXXX-1. At this point, all security officer members who fired upon SCP-XXXX-1 were [DATA EXPUNGED].

Of the ██ SCP-XXXX-2 subjects currently in foundation custody (including SCP-XXXX-2-54), none of them reported symptoms of being targeted by SCP-XXXX-1. This revealed a containment breach whereby there were members of SCP-XXXX-2 not yet identified by the foundation. SCP-XXXX-1 remained at large until March ██, 2017, when SCP-XXXX-2-33 reported having symptoms of being SCP-XXXX-1’s new target. SCP-XXXX-2-33 was promptly moved to Site-██ to assume the role of the late SCP-XXXX-2-38.

Note from Site Director Campbell: This marks the first and only time SCP-XXXX-1 has been shown to attack people who were not its target. Given how the security officers’ weapons had no apparent effect on SCP-XXXX-1, I recommend no hostile engagement is to be made with SCP-XXXX-1 in the future.
