Site-56 Incident Report 08.07.83
On Sunday, August 7th, 1983, at approximately 11:23 A.M, Site-56 experienced total systems failure due to a malfunction in the on-site power supply. Reserve power, meant to last for several weeks, failed to activate, resulting in a severe containment breach. At noon, when all outgoing transmissions from Site-56 were confirmed to have ceased, Site-01 issued the order for the nearest Mobile Task Force to approach Site-56 and assess its condition. Mobile Task Force Epilson-23 arrived approximately 22 minutes later and began moving to reestablish containment. At 2:13 P.M, Epislon-23 issued the all-clear signal.
40 on-site staff were killed, 84 were injured, and the status of an additional 17 could not be confirmed due to contact with anomalous materials. Epsilon-23 reported 13 casualties, none fatal. Among the dead included Site Director Marcus Farnsworth and Coleman Banks, an aide to O5-04. Both men were found dead in the director's office.
Upon closer examination, it was determined that both men died of gunshot wounds to the head and abdomen respectively. Time of death was estimated to be between 10:00 and 10:30.
