SCP-XXXX in it's containment tank

Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Secure

Special Containment Procedures: The containment of SCP-XXXX consists of a 30x30 meter water tank with depth of 6 meters. The walls of the tank and the room above it must be constructed of opaque materials and cannot allow any light into the containment.

SCP-XXXX should at all times be monitored by video cameras capable of operation in low-light mounted in the tank. The water must be lit by light sources of brightness lower than 1 lumen.1 No additional light sources are allowed when entering the containment. Maintenance crew must wear fully sealed water-resistant diving suits when entering the containment.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a sponge-like marine life form. The entity resembles a human figure with merged legs and extremely elongated arms, resulting in slow, stilt-like movement of the specimen. It is considerably larger than a human, and including it's long limbs its height totals at approx. 3 meters. It does not show sentient behaviour.

SCP-XXXX causes a majority of normally floating objects to sink. Measurements have shown that the entity causes the water surrounding it to lower it's density.
This effect has adverse impact on human cardiovascular system, sometimes causing immediate results (See: Addendum 2). However, it occurs only when the subject comes into direct contact with the the body of water affected by SCP-XXXX.

Another anomalous property of SCP-XXXX is to rapidly grow in size whenever exposed to bright light. The brightness threshold of this effect has been measured at 1 lumen. Lowering light exposure below this limit does not shrink the entity, but only stops the growing process. The area affected by SCP-XXXX-1 grows at the same speed as the entity itself.

Tissue removed from SCP-XXXX does not display either of these effects.
