Special Containment Procedures:
SCP-4483 must be contained in a 3x3x3x3 meter titanium lined freezer surounded with 3' of renforced concrete which temperature can be no higher than -100 F. 24 hour video survalliance must be maintaned in order to insure that SCP-4483 has not exited it's dormant state. The containment area is to be externally checked bi-weekly to ensure no cracks or slpits in the walls have been caused by the extreme cold. No less than 3 personel acompanied by 2 armed units may enter the containment chaimber at any given time.
Discription:
SCP-4483 is a 3' tall statue of a plump, hunched figure composed of granite donning a grinning theater mask. It was first discovered in Antartica by a team of soviet reaserchers in 19██. Even though it was discovered in Antartica SCP-4483 has crudley carved Chinese inscriptions repeated along it's base and back, the inscriptions read "他在看", which translates to, "He is watching". It is unknown how or if SCP-4483 went from Asia to Antartica. Prolonged exposure to SCP-4483 causes nausea and extreme headaches, these affects kept the reaserchers from transporting SCP-4483 very far. When exposed to temperatures higher that 30F SCP-4483 will exit it's dormant state, and in doing this its material compasition alters completly. In the first instance SCP-4483 exited it's dormant state it appeared to melt into a 6' tall tower of black slighlty translucent smoke donning a white grinning theater mask, how this transformation is preformed is unknown. Upon awakening SCP-4483's mask donned an angry expression and became extremely hostile, lacerateing personel involved in it's containment using "arms" that were formned upon being confronted, tearing their faces off after it killed them and seemingly absorbing the now removed faces into it's body. It was reported that SCP-4483 had a total of 11 arms during the attack. It is belived that the masks SCP-4483 wears are the faces of it's victims. SCP-4483 is not capable of advanced speech but has been known to utter the names of those involved in it's matnience (even in dormancy), subjects discribe it as "Like the air around us is speaking".
Test #1, Date: Aug ██ 20██:
Preformed by Dr. ██████ and Dr. Jones supervising.Test began at ██ hours, one D-Class Personel armed with a ██ was released into SCP-4483's containment chaimber.
The temperature was raised from -100F to 10F.
One hour has passed- SCP-4483 is still dormant.
Subject reports a headache.
At ██ hours SCP-4483 exits dormant state.
SCP-4483's mask changes to a face in anguish.
SCP-4483 stands motionless watching the subject, and continues to do so for ██ █████.
Subject reports hearing his name called out several times but is unable to pinpoint the source. No sound equipment was unable to pick up the calling.
At ██ hours SCP-4483 produces two arms and two legs and procedes to crawl twards the subject.
Subject opens fire on SCP-4483, but the ammunition passes through the smoke. All rounds shot at the mask bounce off, leaving no visible dammage.
SCP-4483 leaps twards the subject and pins him to the floor, it then proceded to tear of the face of the subject and absorbed it. After the face was removed SCP-4483 slit the subjects throat using it's "arm".
Temperature was lowered to -100F and after 30 minuets drifting around the enclosure SCP-4483 was dormant once again.
Test was ended at ██ hours.
Addendum:
After extensive research into chinese mythology a creature that fits SCP-4483's discription was discovered. It was described as a "White faced black demon", the text aslo puts heavy emphisis on how SCP-4483 just seems to watch them for extended periods of time before begining hostilities. This would explain the text carved into the statue, parhaps it is a warning to those who happen upon it. How the people discovered that cold incompasitates SCP-4483 or how they transported it from China to Antartica is still unknown.
Addendum #2:
On may █ 20██ the journal of a chinese farmer was discovered during an archeological expedition in █████ China, the foundation was able to get ahold of it due to rumors of the farmer writing about a creature similar to SCP-4483.
The following was all that could be salvaged and was translated from Chinese to modern English:
Log# ███ ██████:
Every night now, it comes. It will usually focus on one area of the village at a time just waiting at the edge of the forest watching us for hours, somtimes all night. When its around people seem to feel sick. The strangest part about it is that during the day it becomes a statue, as soon as the sun rises the smoke becomes stone.
Note: The farmer discribes SCP-4483 as being sent into it's dormant state after exposure to sunlight. Requesting a test to prove this claim.
Log# ███ ██████:
The creature attacked the village last night. Mabey it had seen all it needed? I don't know. It was horrifying, it had changed shape from a pillar of smoke to a rounded oval shape with several arms and legs. After watching us for 1 hour it's face changed. It was no longer laughing but instead it seemd mildy disstressed. I saw it's face change again, this time to one in great anguish; more and more untill it looked like it was crying. It sprouted arms and legs from all parts of it's body and came bounding after us. Nothing we could do would harm the creature, our weapons passed through it's body, somehow it's fingerless arms are able to cut and dismember flesh. We lost 63 men that night. It hummiliated their corpses, tearing their faces off.

It came back again, killing about 70 men this time. Moving all the facless bodies is.. unearthly.

Addendum #3:
It is clearly evident that the creature discribed in the journal is SCP-4483, unfortanetly this is the only historical record avalible for the time being on SCP-4483.
Test #2, Date: Jan ██ 20██:
Preformed by Dr. ██████ and Dr. Jones supervising.Test begins at ██ hours.
SCP-4483's containment chamber's temperature is raised to 65F.
17 minuets pass and SCP-4483 exits it's dormant state. SCP-4483 glides up to the two way miror and watches the doctors for 2 hours. SCP-4483 begins uttering the names of the doctors, note that each doctor could only hear his own name being spoken. Dr. Jones reports sudden extreme nausea.
Test ended at ██ hours.
Note:
The test was originally meant to test how sunlight affected SCP-4483, but after it could somehow see us through the two way miror, so we decided to observe it's watching behaivor. It was very unsettling, almost as if it knew me personally. We can also see that SCP-4483 took signifigantly less time to exit it's dormant state, further tests should be preformed to see if it was temperature related.
Test #2, Date: Feb ██ 20██:
Test begins at ██ hours. The temperature of SCP-4483's containment chamber is raised to 70F.
One hour and 26 minuets pass. At ██ hours SCP-4483 exits it's dormant state and procedes to look at the doctors through the two way miror for 7 minuets before sprouting two large arms.
SCP-4483 begins to pound on the miror. Liquid nitrogen was introduced into the chaimber and SCP-4483 resumed dormancy. No visible damage was sustained to the miror. Test ended at ███ hours.
Note: Well, we can now judge that once it gains the ablitiy to exit dormancy it can choose to stay dormant if it wants. And it obvioulsy wanted to get into the testing room with us, not quite sure how it sees us through the two way miror though.
Addendum #4:
A power faliure that lasted 3 hours occured in the ███ wing of site ██ on April 17th 20██. This resulted in SCP-4483 being active for this time. Onece power was restored at ██ hours and SCP-4483 returned to it's dormant state; research staff discovered crude chinese markings on the wall of SCP-4483's containment chaimber in what tests show is human blood with traces of copper. The markings:"我離開。 吃", which translates to: "I leave. Eat.". Tests will be preformed to mesure SCP-4483's speech capabilities.
Test #2, Date: Jun ██ 20██:
Preformed by Dr. ██████ and Dr. Jones supervising.Test begins at ██ hours. Temperature of SCP-4483's containment chaimber is raised to 70F. At ██ hours SCP-4483 awakens, unsusually fast. SCP-4483 observes the doctors through the miror, reports of nausea, headaches and voices were reported. Three hours pass before SCP-4483 moves to the East wall of it's containment chaimber. SCP-4483 then procedes to write on the wall with an "arm" it produces. [Note, all text from SCP-4483 is translated from Chinese.] It wrote: "Need somone", "You come". It looked at Dr. Jones sfter writing this. Dr Jones felt a sudden urge to join SCP-4483 in it's containment chaimber, Dr. ██████ advised against this but Dr. Jones ignored his advice. Dr. Jones enters the chaimber at ███ hours. Upon entering SCP-4483's face changes to that of a grinning expression. SCP-4483 bows politely to Dr. Jones, Dr. Jones does the same. SCP-4483, with it's back to the miror, produces an arm and removes it's mask allowing Dr. Jones to see it's face. Dr. Jones imidently shows signs of distress and within 4.6 seconds collapses to the ground, presumably expired. SCP-4483 places it's mask back on before turning to veiw the miror. SCP-4483's mask in now smiling widly, and is observed to be crying blood. Dr. ██████ could hear the word "Friend" being whispered" Cameras observing SCP-4483's face malfunctioned when the mask was removed. Test ended at ███ hours

Note: SCP-4483 seems to be more intelligent that we thought, it is unknown why SCP-4483 when refering to personnel by name and in the instance when it said "Friend" uses English, and only writes in Chinese. Following the termination or Dr. Jones all tests and interaction with SCP-4483 should be ceased.
Addendum #5:
SCP-4483 is to have 2 armed gaurds stationed at the entrance to it's containment chaimber at all times. No further tests or interaction may be preformed on or with SCP-4483.
