Item#: SCP-5985
Object class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-5985 is to be kept in a brass-laden room of measurements of 18m x18m with objects SCP-5985-1. Both SCPs must be illuminated at all times by flashlights given to personnel during testing. If any personnel below Clearance Level 3 are found in the room, disciplinary action will be taken.
Description: SCP-5985 appears as a wooden coffin with no distinguishing features besides a small Symbol Of Chaos on the top of the coffin. When opened, it contains a small machete (SCP-5985-1). Attempts to retrieve the machete have failed except one, due to the coffin shutting when it senses any lifeform within 60 centimeters.
In Test 34, a male human of 30 years of age (D-17294) was placed in a room full of brass with both SCPs. When
D-17294 walked towards SCP-5985, instead of closing, D-17294 stated that, 'it called in a deep voice'. When
D-17294 reached to the machete, the coffin burst into flames and D-17294 was pushed forcibly to the back of the room, machete in hand. The coffin then proceeded to heat up the room. D-17294 then [DATA EXPUNGED].
When D-17294 [DATA EXPUNGED] he contracted a parasite (SCP-5985-3) from the machete, as Dr Bernard stated: " The parasite entered the body through one of the wounds and then traveled to the brain. Once there, it attached itself to the brain, but strangely, instead of killing him, it simply took control. It then healed his fatal wounds.".
[DATA EXPUNGED]
After killing 17 guards, SCP-5985-2 was removed, tranquilized and placed in a surgery. SCP-5985-3 was extracted from the body of D-17294 and was closely examined. "We couldn't believe what we saw,", Dr Bernard stated, " this parasite contains the information for a plague that could wipe humanity out if it got out."
SCP-5985-3 contains an advance contagious virus (SCP-5985-4), which could be carried by birds, and kills a host within 4 hours. Long enough for people to spread it, but not long enough for humans to develop an antidote.
SCP-5985-2 was terminated and a cure for SCP-5985-4 is currently being researched.
Recovery: SCP-5985 and SCP-5985-1 were recovered from a graveyard in ███████, Colorado after residents complained of a screeching sound emanating from the graveyard. 3 days later the priest was found brutally murdered and the SCP Foundation were called to the scene. SCP-5985 was dug up with ear defenders on and omitted a sound of 100 decibels. The workers dropped the coffin on their brass-tipped boots hazmat suits and the noise quietened.
