Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be kept 1.23 cubic foot, 16.38 X 19.38 X 17.88cm steel safe. The safe’s combination is to be reset once per week by the site director. Personnel are prohibited from making any visual contact with SCP-XXXX or any of its projections while it is powered on. Personnel are prohibited from being present in the same room as SCP-XXXX while it is powered on, with the exception of D-class personnel being used as test subjects.

All tests regarding SCP-XXXX using a live test subject must be approved by the site director, as monitoring instances of SCP-XXXX-2 can cost significant resources. Tests performed with the intention of only gathering data remotely can be performed at any time by Class-C research staff, under the supervision of a containment specialist. Any test that is expected to power SCP-XXXX longer than ██ minutes must also be approved by the site director.

Non-euclidean instances of SCP-XXXX-2 must be kept in a locked cell with minimum necessities. Interaction with non-euclidean instances is strongly advised against. Interaction with a SCP-XXXX-2 must be for research purposes only and requires approval of the site director. Due to the infrequency of euclidean shifts in SCP-XXXX-2 instances, constant monitoring is required, and on-duty research personnel are automatically authorized to interact with SCP-XXXX-2 as quickly as possible.

Description: SCP-XXXX appears to be a lightbulb for a generic projector, but upon being moved, it is clear that it holds a non-euclidean shape. Analyses of the observed shapes indicate that the lightbulb is showing three dimensional cross-sections of a four-dimensional shape. SCP-XXXX has no other observed anomalous effects when unpowered.

SCP-XXXX can be placed in any receptacle meant for lightbulbs. Its base will change shape to fit receptacles of any size. When powered on, SCP-XXXX adds a fourth spatial dimension to any three-dimensional space, limited to whatever room it is currently projecting in. It is currently unknown why the transformation does not occur past the walls or doors of any given room. ████████████████████████. ████████████████████████████████. ██████████████████████████████.Subjects who have been exposed to the anomalous properties of SCP-XXXX are to be henceforth referred to as instance SCP-XXXX-2. There is no known “safe” exposure period. Once exposed to the fourth dimensional environment, a SCP-XXXX-2 instance will immediately possess anomalous properties, even if only exposed for a brief moment. The intensity of anomalous properties possessed by a SCP-XXXX-2 instance will increase exponentially depending on the amount of time exposed to the fourth-dimension.

Characteristics of a SCP-XXXX-2 instance’s anomalous properties can be generalized by a non-euclidean appearance. Instances that were only briefly exposed will irregularly shift between a euclidean and non-euclidean appearance. Time between shifts for these instances appeared to have no pattern or uniformly average length. [DATA EXPUNGED]. Observation and reason conclude that the appearance of SCP-XXXX-2s in a non-euclidean state are three-dimensional cross sections of what would seem to be a fourth-dimensional being. SCP-XXXX-2 instances that had moderate exposure to the fourth-dimension showed an increased frequency of shifts, with the non-euclidean form lasting on average twice as long as the euclidean forms. SCP-XXXX-2 instances with an average exposure time of [DATA EXPUNGED] almost permanently stay in a non-euclidean form. They may shift back into a euclidean form very briefly, however such events are extremely infrequent and near impossible to predict.

Non-euclidean instances of SCP-XXXX-2 generally behave passively. They show signs of increased intelligence and can still interact with their three dimensional environment. It is unknown how they perceive the third-dimension. On occasion, SCP-XXXX-2 instances have been known to spread their anomalous properties to objects or people that they come into contact with. However, this is extremely rare according to all current observations. Physical contact with a SCP-XXXX-2 is still recommended against.

The natural life-span of a SCP-XXXX-2 instance is currently unknown. In euclidean form, all known SCP-XXXX-2 instances show signs of extreme mental fatigue and erratic behavior. The intensity of this behavior corresponds with the amount of initial exposure to SCP-XXXX, however it should be noted that observations from foundation psychologists suggest that test subjects whose personalities tested with stronger wills showed a resistance to mental fatigue. Depending on initial exposure time, euclidean instances will attempt suicide after a few days following the experiment. Foundation security personnel have been successful in preventing direct suicide attempts, however, euclidean instances will usually die from cardiac arrest after several weeks following exposure. Autopsy reports indicate that these heart attacks were somehow self-induced.

SCP-XXXX was discovered at a small movie theater located in ██████████, Oklahoma. The Foundation dispatched a team of containment specialists to the theater on December ███, 19██ after police radio transmissions were intercepted that described “horribly disfigured peoples” exiting the theater. The Foundation ordered the destruction of the theater, and employed the use of memetic devices to erase the memories of the event from witnesses. The police reports were regarded as fictional and never went public. Investigation concluded that the theater was to play the film █████████, however the tape was missing from the projector when Foundation containment specialists arrived. Further investigation revealed that an individual named [DATA EXPUNGED] was assigned to the projector room at the time. The Foundation was unable to locate the individual, and a missing person’s report is still open. Examinations reveal [DATA EXPUNGED] DNA was found on the surface of SCP-XXXX at the time of recovery, and has since been stored in Foundation archives.
