Item#: SCP-4411 nickname: The Moth Effect
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-4411 can be kept in any room that it can fit in as long as there is nothing inside it except itself. No personnel should ever enter the holding chamber of SCP-4411. The only entry into the room of SCP-4411 would need to be authorized by the 05 council. Failure to comply with this will result in termination, as being in the same room as SCP-4411 risks the lives of many civilians. There should be no sources of light in the containment room of SCP-4411. It is advised that the holding chamber of SCP-4411 is protected by facility guards to keep unauthorized personnel from entering.
It is advised that the room holding SCP-4411 have a glass window if the facility holding SCP-4411 needs to observe SCP-4411. To see into this chamber lab personnel would be advised to use a flashlight or any other light source outside of the chamber.
Description: SCP-4411 has a very similar physical appearance to a wasp hive, and was originally thought to be one by ███ ████████ who first discovered SCP-4411. SCP-4411 seems to be impervious to any damage, and the only way to remove it from a wall would be to use class c acid. SCP-4411 is completely hollow, yet somehow it produces SCP-4411-A regularly.
Every 6.3 hours one SCP-4411-A comes out of a hole in the bottom of SCP-4411. These creatures appear almost identical to an Emperor moth in every way, however, it does not need to feed at all and has a much shorter lifespan. SCP-4411-A stays alive for 16-38 hours after exiting SCP-4411. The dangerous anomaly of SCP-4411-A is what happens when one is killed or damaged. SCP-4411-A seems to be connected to a random town and city, and each time one is destroyed an anomalous disaster happens to the random town/city.
These disasters seem to be based on how the particular instance of SCP-4411-A was killed. When SCP-4411-A is crushed either an Earthquake or a sinkhole can occur. If the instance is electrocuted, a power-outage seems to occur for up to 12 days on record. If SCP-4411-A dies by water there is heavy flooding. Any burning of SCP-4411-A will cause a major fire in the town/city that is affected. This has only occurred once, SCP-457 attempted an escape from the facility ████████ in ████████ █████. This escape attempt went through SCP-4411’s holding chamber, and it burned up 1 instance of SCP-4411-A. This burning is believed to have caused a fire to start in ██████, ████████. This disaster caused ███ deaths. After this disaster facility ████████ began keeping SCP-4411 in a more secure holding chamber with two facility guards constantly patrolling.
Discovery: SCP-4411 was discovered when the foundation intercepted a phone call from ███ ████████ who discovered SCP-4411 stuck to his home. He called a local exterminator saying that there was a wasp hive stuck to his house that no matter how much he used his pressure washer on it, it wouldn’t fall of. This had seemed like an anomaly, so the foundation dispatched 2 personnel to investigate. Facility personnel Dr.██████ and Dr.█████████ arrived at ███ ████████’s home disguised as exterminators. Once ███ ████████ showed the lab personnel where SCP-4411 was located, they incapacitated him for further questioning.
The lab personnel worked on the removal of SCP-4411 for over an hour before an instance of SCP-4411-A came out. Dr.█████████ was startled by SCP-4411-A and he terminated it using the pressure washer he was using to try to remove SCP-4411. Dr.█████████ reports that as soon as he terminated the instance of SCP-4411-A he got a message through his radio that another anomalous flood happened in ██████ █████████. This led Dr.█████████ to be suspicious that SCP-4411-A was responsible for the anomalous disasters that were happening. After another hour the lab personnel was successful in removing SCP-4411 from the wall of ███ ████████’s home.
After the successful containment of SCP-4411, there have been 2 tests approved by the 05 council and carried out. The first of which being on █████ 28th 19██ which was █ weeks after initial containment. This was a test to see what would happen if SCP-4411-A was electrocuted. The second test was carried out on ███████ 17th 19██ which was ███ after initial containment. This test involved a class D going into the chamber of SCP-4411 and having him killing an instance of SCP-4411-A using only his hands.
