Time Barn

SCP-XXXX Time Barn

rating: 0+x

Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures:
Due to its immobile nature, Area-XXXX was constructed around SCP-XXXX and is to be manned by forces and D-Class personnel. No personnel are to enter SCP-XXXX through any doors or windows, and opening the main door from any point is strictly prohibited unless for research purposes.

Native flora has been planted around SCP-XXXX and Area-XXXX to obstruct it from view from any nearby roads. Electric barbed wire fences enclose an area of 1.5 square kilometers around SCP-XXXX.

Should any entity exit SCP-XXXX from any point, it is to be tracked, neutralized, and cremated immediately. If any studies are done on an emerging entity, hazmat suits are to be worn and termination of the entity followed by cremation is to be carried out as soon as possible.

Should any personnel decide to enter SCP-XXXX through the main entrance, they are to equip proper protection and hazmat suits and proceed with decontamination protocols when entering or exiting SCP-XXXX.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a horse barn found in ████, Michigan. Its dimensions equate to roughly 9m x 12m x 9m. It is constructed almost entirely from oak and has been painted red with white highlights on supports or moldings, though the paint has chipped and faded due to age. SCP-XXXX contains a large, main door, a back door, and a window situated above the main door which could be used to access the loft.

If one attempts to enter or exit SCP-XXXX through the back door or window, they will find themselves in a, by all accounts, normal barn ideal for up to two horses. However, should an individual attempt to enter or leave through the main entrance, they will instead open a gateway to a random time and location in Earth’s history. In the location SCP-XXXX leads to, there is a frame of a barn door leading to the current time and location. If barn door closes, the rift to the time and locations closes as well. It’s unknown what happens to the doorframe before or after the barn door closes, as there is no way to exchange data prior to or following the opening or closing of SCP-XXXX. During no research thus far has SCP-XXXX opened to an area inhospitable for terrestrial life.

The main door to SCP-XXXX will automatically open once every thirty five days for a duration of eighteen minutes before automatically closing. It is unknown how or why it does this. If the main door of SCP-XXXX is opened manually it will remain open unless manually closed. Attempts to close SCP-XXXX manually when it opens automatically show the doors will not move.

Document XXXX-1: A catalogue of zoological entities that emerged from SCP-XXXX

SCP-XXXX-1-a: A small, oviraptorosaurid dinosaur that is believed to be a juvenile, female Anzu wyliei. The dinosaur died of pneumonia after 48 hours.

SCP-XXXX-1-b: A newborn dinosaur believed to be a female Tyrannosaurus rex hatchling somewhere between six and eight days old. It was extremely malnourished and died only two hours after emergence. Autopsies show it had broken its left femur somehow, and was likely abandoned by its parents.

[It should be noted that, after these two encounters, it was believed SCP-XXXX only opened into an area sometime during the late Cretaceous period. Future encounters, however, disbanded this belief.]

SCP-XXXX-1-c: An adult male American lion (Panthera (leo) atrox). The animal appeared confused, and therefore agitated. It mauled a D-Class personnel before being neutralized.

SCP-XXXX-1-d: An adult female red fox (Vulpes vulpes). It managed to squeeze through the fence but was struck by a motor vehicle. The fence was reinforced following this incident.

SCP-XXXX-1-e: An adult, male, mammalian creature resembling a mountain lion (Puma concolor.) The creature was disoriented and therefore agitated. However, it was neutralized before it could cause any serious injury. DNA analysis showed it was not an animal known to any zoological or genetics organization. However, its DNA was most akin to that of the southern grasshopper mouse (Onychomys torridus), and is theorized to be a descendant, and was given the scientific name of Dracomussa paraleo (literally translating to “the dragon mouse that is like a lion”). From how far into the future it is from, however, is unknown.

[It should be noted that though SCP-XXXX-1-e did not come into direct physical contact with any personnel, any individuals who were in close proximity to it or made physical contact when moving its body later died of a highly evolved strain of the common cold. After this, it was required for personnel to cremate any entities emerging from SCP-XXXX and to wear protective clothing.]

SCP-XXXX-1-f: A large insect that is believed to be an adult, female Meganeura brongniarti. It died of suffocation only six minutes after emerging.

SCP-XXXX-1-g: The only human to have emerged from SCP-XXXX. He was a human male of European descent who claimed his name was Oliver Greene and he was 23 years old. When questioned when and where he came from, he remarked he was from the Arizona Territory and the date was Saturday, the 22nd of May, 1880. He was allowed to go back through SCP-XXXX after being administered an amnesiac.

SCP-XXXX-1-h: A crab-like creature about the size of an English mastiff. It has no discernible gender and was covered in algae. It died of hypothermic shock six minutes after emerging. DNA analysis shows its only living relative is the emperor shrimp (Periclimenes imperator). Like SCP-XXXX-1-e, it is believed to be a descendant from the distant future.
