The SCP in the state in which it was found.
Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be wrapped in a waterproof film around the blade and contained within a box 180 centimetres in Length and 70 centimetres in Width. Along with this, the object must be kept in a room of size 6x6 Metres while testing is underway.
In the event that any blood liquid excrement of a living human makes contact with the blade of SCP-XXXX (and henceforth becomes SCP-XXXX-1), all personnel within the room SCP-XXXX is contained in, along with the viewing areas looking into the room, are to be evacuated immediately. Once SCP-XXXX-1 is located, they are to be terminated instantly in order to halt the anomalous effects of SCP-XXXX and return it to an inactive state.
After SCP-XXXX-1 has been successfully terminated, the blade of the object is to be cleaned thoroughly.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a blackened out, decaying Scythe of dimensions 170x60 centimetres with two wooden handles. Its build is that of a scythe common for farming uses in the years before mechanical tools were utilised. The tip of the metallic blade is sharp enough to pierce human skin and draw blood with little force being applied to the tip.
In it’s inactivate state the object appears to be a regular scythe used for farming. However, when the object and its anomalous properties become activate an opaque spherical field is created which is assumed to have a radius of 5 meters in all directions from the centre (the centre being the tip of the scythe). The objects anomalous state is activated as soon as any living human’s blood liquid excrement comes into contact with the blade of the object. The subject whose blood liquid excrement activates the effects of SCP-XXXX is referred to as SCP-XXXX-1.
When in its active state. SCP-XXXX-1 falls into a comatose state and has visions of life after death, however, these illusions are not truly what comes after but instead relate to the subject’s views and perspective consisting of life after death. For example: a person with religious beliefs that also believes in the concept of Heaven will perceive what they believe Heaven would look like. Along with this, if the subject has multiple views on life after deaththen they will view the scenario they most believe is true. Along with this, we also believe that if a person decides that they are evil, while also believing in Heaven/Hell, they will have illusions of their Hell while the opposite is true for people who believe they are truly good.
While in its active state, and a being capable of human thoughts is within the sphere of effect, the subject (hereby referred to as SCP-XXXX-2), is subject to the hallucinations belonging to SCP-XXXX-1. The difference between the two subjects is that SCP-XXXX-2 will not fall into a comatose state upon being affected, however (as a trade-off) if their views of death differ to that of SCP-XXXX-1, they will experience mental trauma and go into strict denial for multiple weeks/months after being exposed.
The only known way of disabling the anomalous effects of SCP-XXXX is by terminating SCP-XXXX-1.
SCP-XXXX was found in ████ outside of ████████ after foundation noticed police reports of a hysterical religious cult kidnapping people from nearby villages. Police Reports showed that some officers began hallucinating during an attempted arrest and hence suffered few casualties, along with the termination of the religious cult. Class B Amnestics administered to remaining officers while SCP-XXXX was located and secured.
Anomalous Effects Test:A
Anomalous Effects Test:B
Subject: Class D-9374
Procedure: Draw blood by using the tip of SCP-XXXX, allowing it to seep onto the blade.
Results: Anomalous properties of SCP-XXXX activated. D-9374 falls into a comatose state. Along with this; multiple staff members observing from the observation decks report having their vision obstructed by "Pure White" along with the Doctor in charge of SCP-XXXX. Labelled a potential security breach with the subject being terminated as soon as threat was realised. All affected personnel return to normal with some psychological damage with some personnel.
Analysis: There seems to be an area of effect surrounding SCP-XXXX, further testing required to scope the dimensions of the field. However that vision of pure white may have something to do with the anomalous properties. -Dr A Glory
Anomalous Effects Test:C
Subject: Class D-9694
Procedure: Draw blood by using the knife supplied, allowing it to get onto SCP-XXXX's blade.
Results: Subject falls into comatose state becoming an instance of SCP-XXXX-1. Nothing of note occurs during this time. SCP-XXXX-1 terminated to disable the object.
Analysis: Getting quite frustrated at this point. All that seems to happen is the person falls into a coma. I was hoping to get something interesting to play with… Perhaps we should focus on this comatose state to observe if the -1 is experiencing the same illusion we did. -Dr A Glory
On the date 23/4/████, SCP-XXXX was due for transport to a separate facility due to the discovery of its anomalous properties (relocated to Facility ██). During transportation of the item, SCP-XXXX's blade seem to come into contact with some of the carriers sweat, putting it into an activate state and allowing a security breach of SCP ████ and SCP ████ at the same time. 12 Casualties were reported along with the termination of SCP-XXXX-1 in order to disable the effects.
Interviewed: Dr A Glory
Interviewer: Agent ██████
Foreword: Interview conducted proceeding the events of Incident Report XXXX:1
<Begin Log>
Interviewer: Dr A Glory. You are the researcher tasked with researching the anomalous effects of SCP-XXXX. Am I cor-
Dr A: Let me stop you right there. You know who I am and what i'm tasked with. If you weren't then why would you be he-
Interviewer: Please answer the question doctor…
Dr A: Yes. I am Dr Adam Glory. The researcher tasked with research of the anomalous properties of SCP-XXXX.
Interviewer: Are you aware of what transpired during transportation of the SCP in question?
Dr A: Listen. I've already told the directors that it was an oversight on my part, and I apologise, just give me some time to do more re-
Interviewer: Please answer the question doctor.
Dr A: …Yes. I am aware… But as I was sayi- May I speak?
Interviewer: Go ahead.
Dr A: I haven't been on this project for long due to its discovery only being made recently. The only facts I have managed to prove is that blood can activate the anomalous properties. The anomalous properties include-
Interviewer: Get to the point, Doc.
Dr A: Yes of course. What i'm saying is I need more time! I know I am at least partly responsible for the deaths of those personnel and I do regret not performing more research. But with the time I had I could only do so little.
Interviewer: Then how about this proposal. For the foreseeable future you are to invest yourself into your research, finding out the source of SCP-XXXX's unforeseen activation, only being allowed to leave for three meals at scheduled times. At those times you will only be allowed into the canteen and the restroom. Outside of these assigned times you are to invest into your research. You are assigned to this post until you can completely comprehend the scope of SCP-XXXX's properties. Am. I. Clear?
Dr A: Yes…
Interviewer: Good. Then we're done here.
<End Log>
Closing Statement: Dr A Glory was not reprimanded for his actions due to lack of understanding of the object, however, Dr A Glory is to perform further research on SCP-XXXX without rest in order to discover the cause of the anomalous properties manifesting.
Addendum XXXX-A: It has been shown that it is not just blood that is capable of putting SCP-XXXX into an active state, rather, it works with any liquid produced by a human subject.
Anomalous Effects Test:D
Subject: Class D-8496
Procedure: A urine sample has been taken to examine wether other bodily fluids can be used to activate the effects of SCP-XXXX.
Results: SCP-XXXX's anomalous effects manifested successfully. Dr A Glory decided to enter the room, despite the warnings from his fellow researchers. After entering the field of effect he was met with pure black. This vision was in direct contrast to that of what was experienced last time. SCP-XXXX-1 terminated with effects of SCP-XXXX-2 on Dr A ceasing.
Analysis: Ok now we're getting somewhere! Through this test we have established the area of effect of SCP-XXXX. But I feel like i'm getting some pretty dirty looks now… Strange. -Dr A Glory
Anomalous Effects Test:E
Subject: Class D-10019
Procedure: Use machinery to examine the targets brain waves in an attempt to observe said subjects state to see if he is experiencing anything in his comatose state.
Results: Anomalous properties of SCP-XXXX activated. D-10019 falls into a comatose state. Monitors show rise in brain activity during this comatose state which is not possible within comatose patients. Dr A Glory once again steps into the chamber and is shown what he can only describe as hell. Mountains of fire and seas of lava round every corner. D-10019 terminated. Effects of SCP-XXXX-2 on Dr A Glory cease.
Analysis: Pure White. Pure Black. And… Hell. There is no proof that it was actual hell tht was being experienced or whether its something else, but that's the theory we are running on for now. -Dr A Glory
Anomalous Effects Test:F
Subject: Class D-10043 (Believes in the concepts of Heaven and Hell.)
Procedure: Use urine sample to activate the object; along with use of machinery to examine the targets brain waves in an attempt to observe said subjects state to see if he is experiencing anything in his comatose state.
Results: Anomalous properties of SCP-XXXX activated. D-10043 falls into a comatose state. Monitors show rise in brain activity during this comatose state, however the effect is not as high as it was in the previous test. Dr A Glory once again steps into the chamber and is shown pure white; much life before, however this time shapes can be made out, such as clouds, golden gates, and a figure resembling that of a very large human. D-10043 terminated. Effects of SCP-XXXX-2 on Dr A Glory cease.
Analysis: That was most certainly Heaven. Agreed, it is not concrete proof, but it is the best we have so far. With this conclusion we can also assume that SCP-XXXX also has telepathic abilities and is potentially sentient. Requesting rise of object class from Safe to Euclid. We also noticed that the brain activity was not as high as the previous test. Could this have something to do with the subject seeing a "Heaven" rather than a "Hell", or is the reason something else. -Dr A Glory
Request to increase class from Safe to Euclid denied.
Anomalous Effects Test:G
Subject: Class D-10124 (believes in the concept of Hell but isn't so sure about Heaven)
Procedure: Use sample of subjects sweat to activate the object; along with use of machinery to examine the targets brain waves in an attempt to observe said subjects state to see if he is experiencing anything in his comatose state.
Results: Anomalous properties of SCP-XXXX activated. D-10124 falls into a comatose state. Monitors show rise in brain activity during this comatose state, being even lower than before. Dr A Glory once again steps into the chamber and is shown a man being tortured by a red demon. The person bears a striking resemblance to SCP-XXXX-1 so can only be assumed they are the same person. D-10124 terminated. Effects of SCP-XXXX-2 on Dr A Glory cease.
Analysis: A few conclusions have been derived from this. Firstly, I am convinced that the brain activity is totally reliant on what kind of excrement is used to activate SCP-XXXX, being more violent when blood is utilised. Secondly, what SCP-XXXX-2 observes and what SCP-XXXX-1 hallucinates are most likely the same thing, and is entirely dependent on their views of life after death. We need to do at least one more test using someone who believes in neither Heaven or Hell to prove the point. It could be that the object only shows visions of Heaven or Hell.-Dr A Glory
Addendum XXXX-B: More tests have been conducted involving different bodily fluids and results have shown that, even though the excrement that comes into contact with the blade has not yet been proven to have any effect on the activation of the anomalous properties, when blood comes into contact with the blade of the object; the subjects brain activity becomes much more unstable compared to the effects of other fluids.
Anomalous Effects Test:H
Subject: Class D-10534 (believes that when you die, its nothingness)
Procedure: Touch tip of objects blade to activate the object.
Results: Anomalous properties of SCP-XXXX activated. D-10534 falls into a comatose state. Dr A Glory once again steps into the chamber and sees nothing. Full nothingness. The Dr goes into a mental breakdown after seeing this and faints. D-10534 terminated. Effects of SCP-XXXX-2 on Dr A Glory cease.
Analysis: Dr A Glory showed significant mental damage and is being sent to the facility's psychiatric ward in order to recover. Dr A Glory Made a full recovery a few months later on 28/8/████
