The SCP in the state in which it was found.

Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be wrapped in a waterproof film around the blade and contained within a box 180 centimetres in Length and 70 centimetres in Width. Along with this, the object must be kept in a room of size 6x6 Metres while testing is underway.

In the event that any blood liquid excrement of a living human makes contact with the blade of SCP-XXXX (and henceforth becomes SCP-XXXX-1), all personnel within the room SCP-XXXX is contained in, along with the viewing areas looking into the room, are to be evacuated immediately. Once SCP-XXXX-1 is located, they are to be terminated instantly in order to halt the anomalous effects of SCP-XXXX and return it to an inactive state.

After SCP-XXXX-1 has been successfully terminated, the blade of the object is to be cleaned thoroughly.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a blackened out, decaying Scythe of dimensions 170x60 centimetres with two wooden handles. Its build is that of a scythe common for farming uses in the years before mechanical tools were utilised1. The tip of the metallic blade is sharp enough to pierce human skin and draw blood with little force being applied to the tip.

In it’s inactivate state the object appears to be a regular scythe used for farming. However, when the object and its anomalous properties become activate an opaque spherical field is created which is assumed to have a radius of 5 meters in all directions from the centre (the centre being the tip of the scythe). The objects anomalous state is activated as soon as any living human’s blood liquid excrement comes into contact with the blade of the object2. The subject whose blood liquid excrement activates the effects of SCP-XXXX is referred to as SCP-XXXX-1.

When in its active state. SCP-XXXX-1 falls into a comatose state and has visions of life after death, however, these illusions are not truly what comes after but instead relate to the subject’s views and perspective consisting of life after death. For example: a person with religious beliefs that also believes in the concept of Heaven will perceive what they believe Heaven would look like. Along with this, if the subject has multiple views on life after death3then they will view the scenario they most believe is true. Along with this, we also believe that if a person decides that they are evil, while also believing in Heaven/Hell, they will have illusions of their Hell while the opposite is true for people who believe they are truly good.

While in its active state, and a being capable of human thoughts is within the sphere of effect, the subject (hereby referred to as SCP-XXXX-2), is subject to the hallucinations belonging to SCP-XXXX-1. The difference between the two subjects is that SCP-XXXX-2 will not fall into a comatose state upon being affected, however (as a trade-off) if their views of death differ to that of SCP-XXXX-1, they will experience mental trauma and go into strict denial for multiple weeks/months after being exposed.

The only known way of disabling the anomalous effects of SCP-XXXX is by terminating SCP-XXXX-1.

SCP-XXXX was found in ████ outside of ████████ after foundation noticed police reports of a hysterical religious cult kidnapping people from nearby villages. Police Reports showed that some officers began hallucinating during an attempted arrest and hence suffered few casualties, along with the termination of the religious cult. Class B Amnestics administered to remaining officers while SCP-XXXX was located and secured.

Addendum XXXX-A: It has been shown that it is not just blood that is capable of putting SCP-XXXX into an active state, rather, it works with any liquid produced by a human subject.

Addendum XXXX-B: More tests have been conducted involving different bodily fluids and results have shown that, even though the excrement that comes into contact with the blade has not yet been proven to have any effect on the activation of the anomalous properties, when blood comes into contact with the blade of the object; the subjects brain activity becomes much more unstable compared to the effects of other fluids.
