SCP-XXXX-1
Special Containment Procedures: Events prone to the effect of SCP-XXXX are to be monitored by MTF Epsilon-6 ("Village Idiots") for presence of SCP-XXXX-1. In the event that SCP-XXXX-1 materializes, all present MTF personnel are to secure a 1 Km perimeter around the anomaly using police barricades or similarly functioning apparatus. In the event of any affected civilians crossing perimeter, nonlethal weapons are to be used to apprehend and detain subjects. Lethal force is to be permitted at the discretion of MTF personnel.
When SCP-XXXX-1 dematerializes, Class-B Amnestics are to be administered to all inhabitants within 5 Km of site of incident. All media containing SCP-XXXX-1 is to be scanned for on all online databases, and promptly destroyed. MTF Epsilon-6 is tasked with removing signs of SCP-XXXX-1 under the guise of construction workers. Monitoring of location in which phenomenon occurred should last until at least 1 month after for any signs of memory of the event or physical media.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a phenomenon occurring in American cities with populations of 700,000 or greater. SCP-XXXX events have showed to only occur during celebrations on July 4th, and are characterized by appearance of SCP-XXXX-1. SCP-XXXX-1 is a monolith identical in appearance to the Washington Monument with the phrase "Patriotism is the will to kill, be killed, and light fireworks the whole time. Are We Cool Yet?"
SCP-XXXX-1 materializes in locations visible to large amounts of the city population, and with at least 20 square meters of open space. SCP-XXXX-1's anomalous abilities are its behavior altering affects on any onlookers, now designated SCP-XXXX-2, who are previously unaware of it. These consist of SCP-XXXX-2 believing that SCP-XXXX-1 has always been present, and that they must do all in their ability to climb to the top of the monolith and throw themselves off of it. SCP-XXXX-2 have shown to mostly refrain from this behavior if sufficient police barricades are laid down and security is tightly maintained. However, few individuals exposed to SCP-XXXX-1 show altered behavior. These individuals are designated SCP-XXXX-3. SCP-XXXX-3 show the same symptoms as SCP-XXXX-2, but have much more hostility compared to other SCP-XXXX-2. SCP-XXXX-3 have been known to use all available methods to bypass security, including using violence to kill or disable any who try to stop them from accessing SCP-XXXX-1. Subjects who make contact with SCP-XXXX-1 will attempt to climb it using a variety of methods, including jumping off nearby buildings, creating structures from available materials, and using other subjects as stepping stones to get higher. When a subject successfully throws them self off of SCP-XXXX-1, approximately 3% of all SCP-XXXX-2 who witness this will become SCP-XXXX-3. SCP-XXXX-1 dematerializes 3 hours after appearing. All who were under the effects of SCP-XXXX soon return to their non-anomalous states, but remain with a strong yearning to see SCP-XXXX-1 again and an increased level of aggression and patriotism. These effects may increase if exposed to media containing SCP-XXXX-1, or see any artifacts left after anomaly dematerializes. Artifacts include bodies of those who died as a result of SCP-XXXX and possible indentations of monolith on ground or soil.
