Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Keter

Special Containment Procedures: Radio and television broadcasts are to be monitored every Sunday daily for any unauthorized activity by SCP-XXXX. If any broadcasts are found, they are to be redirected to Foundation-controlled frequencies unavailable to the general public. No personnel who identify as atheist or agnostic are allowed to view a recording of SCP-XXXX, regardless of clearance level. Recordings of broadcasts are to be kept in Site-58's visual media division for study.

UPDATE: Following Incident-XXXX-1, all Foundation intercom systems and mounted televisions are to have an emergency shut-off system in place, and Site-58 is not to hire any further personnel who are atheist or agnostic.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a series of radio and television broadcasts.

NOTES FOR WRITING:

SCP-XXXX is only active on mediums that are able to convey static (not outright stated). Broadcasts will always contain some form of static interference. Video will be in black and white.

SCP-XXXX-1 takes the form of an old preacher, spouting out-of-context bible quotes in sermons. Sermons are identical to typical ones by evangelical Christian preachers, sometimes to the point of plagiarism.

Anyone that's not atheist or agnostic are anywhere from mildly to extremely unnerved when viewing the sermons, no matter their tolerance or endorsement for religious extremism and/or scary stuff.

Atheists will universally find the broadcasts humorous in nature, in a way similar to how The Room is funny. However, subjects will also become more radical in their belief in atheism, to the point of extremism and disassociating themselves with non-atheist and non-agnostic acquaintances. They will also try to pressure agnostic subjects or subjects questioning their current religion to become atheists, with very little success. They will also believe that any religious person they're talking to believe in the Abrahamic faiths. They either can't or won't acknowledge any other religion's existence, including Buddhism, Hinduism, Paganism, or anything else.

Agnostic subjects viewing SCP-XXXX can potentially identify as atheists following viewing an instance of SCP-XXXX. 56% of agnostic subjects viewing the broadcasts identified as atheists afterwards, with 41% remaining agnostic and the remainder subscribing to their previous religious faith.

2 incidents. First has SCP-XXXX broadcast across Site-58's intercom system, as well as any non-anomalous TV sets and radios on-site. Second has the intercom in SCP-343's cell activate, playing one of SCP-XXXX-1's sermons, except it's directed at 343.

SCP-XXXX-1 talks about how it's as old as 343, but that he's only been getting "worshipped" now in the age of information. SCP-XXXX-1 then states that it revels in the disgust for the sermons it preaches by its unwitting "followers." To prepare for a war, even.

343 claims to not know what SCP-XXXX is talking about, but every time he says that the Foundation's intercom system starts producing static.
