Dr. Anchora

Name: A Friend for a While

Item #: SCP-xxxx

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-xxxx currently resides in the office of Dr. Anchora of Site 23. Due to the lack of overtly harmful anomalous properties, SCP-xxxx does not require any special observation, other than usual maintenance in accordance with most aquariums. Upon the event of a leak, Site 23 maintenance staff will respond immediately to mitigate the risk of on-site flooding. Standard silicone calk should be used to repair any leaks or fractures.

Description: SCP-xxxx is a standard 29 U.S. gallon aquarium manufactured by Tetra Industries, and accompanying accessories, as well as non-anomalous decorations. SCP-xxxx itself displays considerable wear, particularly chips in the glass and frame. There is an additional fracture running lengthwise from the top right corner to the bottom left, with a central spidering crack. This fracture has been repaired via standard silicone calk 17 times since falling into Foundation custody.

Scratched in the lower left hand portion of an elongated glass panel is a crude heart-shape inscribed with several Thaumaturgic symbols translating roughly to “aqua,” “intelligence,” “permanence,” and “possession.” The phrase 'AWCY?' is inscribed on the underside of the aquarium. The presence of this particular acronym is indicative of a certain GOI’s involvement in the creation of SCP-xxxx.

The current anomalous effects of SCP-xxxx manifest in its ability to replace a seemingly infinite amount of freshwater. Any attempt to remove the water results in the exact amount replacing itself within the span of one hour. In addition to this, the electrical components have no apparent source of power, yet continuously run. The water within the aquarium maintains a constant of 28.3° Celsius, disregarding outside environmental factors.

The Foundation was alerted to the anomalous nature of SCP-xxxx by reports from law enforcement about an aquarium disgorging massive quantities of water at the scene of a murder-suicide. Upon retrieval from the scene, the aquarium was found to be damaged by a bullet fragment, causing the large angled crack and partially damaging the Thaumaturgic symbols. Additionally, a deceased specimen of Betta Splendens was found inside the tank, presumably dead from the same bullet fragment. SCP-xxxx likely contained the entity described in Document xxxx-0, believed to have been the deceased Betta Splendens. Refer to Document xxxx-0 for details.
