SCP-XXXX prior to containment.

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be contained in a high-value item storage locker in Site-81. SCP-XXXX-2 is to be extracted weekly for general maintenance checkup and social interaction, and monthly for medical examination.

Description: SCP-XXXX is an electric cat toy. The main housing is spherical with a diameter of 7.6cm. This housing is made of a lime green plastic with 12 purple decals along the upper hemisphere. A battery compartment is visible and when the cover is removed, no batteries are present inside the 2 AA battery slots, despite the object being operational. An power button is located on the upper hemisphere. A gyroscope is embedded within the object, allowing it to stay upright. A plastic rod with a length of 23.3cm is extending out of the top of the sphere. This rod has several, nylon feathers of varying sizes attached. When SCP-XXXX is activated via the power button, the rod will start to rotate in a clockwise motion at the speed of one rotation per second.

When the object is in an activated state, species in the Felidae family within a 95m area surrounding SCP-XXXX will attempt to play with the rotating feather rod. Felines will continue to interact with the object indefinitely until it is deactivated. Upon deactivation, all felines interacting with SCP-XXXX will be taken into a space within the object designated as SCP-XXXX-1. The space has similar properties to a prairie ecosystem. The notable feature of this space, however, is the abundance of catnip (Nepeta cataria) growing in the fields. Cats within this space do not require sustenance to continue life functions. They were also observed not to age. All cats housed within SCP-XXXX-1 show no signs of hostility or irritation.

SCP-XXXX-2

Upon reactivation, all cats housed within SCP-XXXX-1 will be released surrounding the object. A domestic house cat (Felis catus) will appear nearby the object. This cat, designated as SCP-XXXX-2 is orange, male, and approximately 10 years of age. SCP-XXXX-2 is unable to leave the effect radius and any attempts to do so will result in SCP-XXXX-2 rematerializing nearby the object. SCP-XXXX-2 does not seem to be affected by the object, unlike other felines. SCP-XXXX-2 is rather fond of Foundation Personnel and shows no signs of aggression when interacted with.

Recovery Log

Recovery Team: MTF Epsilon-6 "Village Idiots"

Preamble: Gregory ████, an 88-year-old man was found deceased in his home when his caretaker arrived for daily check-in. His house had several framed photos of his cat throughout, the interviewed family members confirmed his compassion for the feline. During the disinfection process of his home, SCP-XXXX was found with SCP-XXXX-2 and several other stray cats interacting with the object, presumably activated by Mr. ████ before his death. Agent ██████ was related to Mr. ████ and was able to notify the Foundation of the anomaly. The Agent was detained and questioned, but had no notable connections to Gregory other than being related. A Foundation breach of information is unlikely.

Findings: MTF Epsilon-6, posing as a home de-cluttering service retrieved SCP-XXXX and several documents pertaining to its creation. Upon inspection of a cluttered workbench, 4 documents related to the anomaly were discovered and retrieved. Stray cats found within the house were released. Witnesses were provided Class B Amnestics upon recovery.

Today has been an awful day and it's all my fault. Marmalade ran out the door when I was out to get the mail. I'm terrified of never seeing him again, all because of me. I'm a wreck, Marmalade meant so much to me since Carol passed. I know I wasn't supposed to do so, but I searched the nearby yards but could not find him. I'm worried by nightfall he will be eaten by coyotes in the woods. I hope he returns soon. I will make it up to you Marmalade, I promise.

I know how to make it up to you, Marmalade. With this, you will never be lost again and will live your life out in peace. I know you can't read this since you are a cat, but it just makes me feel better putting this into words. Even after I'm gone, I know you will still be here and that makes me feel at peace. You mean so much to me, Marmalade.

A diagram with several stains of what is presumed to be coffee, depicts a design similar to the structure of SCP-XXXX. However, portions of the diagram is unreadable due to the effects of the beverage stains.

Online order receipt.

An online order receipt from a popular shopping site lists multiple items ordered by Mr. ████. Contents of the receipt include:

1x 50-Point Breadboard

5x 10cm Insulated Wires

1x Small DC Motor 1.5-3V

1x SmartyKat Feather Whirl Cat Toy

All components ordered were used to construct SCP-XXXX. The cat toy was used as the casing for the electronics. It is currently unknown how anomalous effects arise from these components.
