SCP-XXXX
Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures:
Description: SCP-XXXX is the designation for a brand of frozen, plastic-wrapped chicken. Each instance resembles a chicken that has been processed and packaged for retail using practices common in most parts of North America and Europe during the late 20th century. The label includes nutrition facts, a list of ingredients, and the following text:
██████ FarmsTM Ready-to-Eat Chicken
Eat it any way you like it!
When an instance of SCP-XXXX is completely defrosted1, it is instantaneously2 replaced with a live female chicken3. The mass of this bird is similar to that of a hen which, when processed and frozen, would result in a product with the same mass as the instance in its frozen state. If the instance is not removed from its packaging prior to defrosting, the packaging will be present below the defrosted instance, with a large tear in the plastic.
When a live instance of SCP-XXXX is placed in an environment with an ambient temperature less than or equal to 0 degrees Celsius4 for at least five seconds, it will instantaneously revert to a frozen state, with the same anomalous properties described above. The packaging is not replaced when this happens.
When a live instance of SCP-XXXX dies, it is instantaneously replaced with a cooked chicken. The manner in which the chicken is cooked seems to depend on the length of time for which the instance was alive. Simultaneously, the nutrition facts and ingredients list on the label are updated to reflect any changes caused by the "cooking." For more details, see Addendum XXXX-A.
