Item #: SCP-(not yet defined)
Object Class: Euclid/Keter
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be kept in a 10m x 10m x 10m anechoic chamber, suspended 5m from the ceiling in a 30cm hermetically sealed steel cube, insulated with sound absorbing foam inserts on both the interior and exterior of the box. No decibel producing devices such as speakers, phones and other electrical/mechanical devices intended to make sound are to be brought into the containment chamber without the express permission from 5 or more level 4 personnel.
D-Class entering SCP-XXXX's chamber are to be provided with test instructions and a set of noise cancelling headphones, sufficient to produce over 130 decibels in the event that any sound is produced from SCP-XXXX, essentially snuffing the reception of any sound made by the entity to the ear. Any recording devices placed in SCP-XXXX's chamber are required to be static, and unable to record any sound in the case that SCP-XXXX produces an audible tone.
Due to SCP-XXXX's dangerous properties, and the likelihood of a mass chain reaction resulting in an XK-Class-End-of-the-World Scenario, containment should be considered Alpha priority.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a brass speakers megaphone, commonly referred to as a bullhorn. Measuring 19cm in length, the entity is able to produce sounds within the range of 1 Hz to 200 kHz and the decibel range being 10 dB and 200 dB, with there being a random combination of both whenever a sound is made by the entity. D-Class that hear any sound produced by the entity often die almost instantly by severe brain and throat rupture. However, any D-Class that survive the encounter (designated SCP-XXXX-1) commonly suffer severe exsanguination of both the vocal cords and components of the inner ear - mostly the cochlear - 48 to 72 hours after hearing the sound. Any sound that is played through SCP-XXXX is heavily distorted, barely resembling the original sound, both in speed and frequency. Due to these properties, in the event SCP-XXXX produces a high decible, low frequency sound resulting in structural instabilities in the surrounding area, any country within a 100km radius of Site-XX should be given Standard-Cover-Story Foxtrot, "Earthquake/Fault Line Tremor". Any individual that attempts to look further into any tremor event should be administered Class-A amnestics. Testing has found that the brass alloy SCP-XXXX is made from is unusually hard, registering as an 8 on hardness scales, extremely high for trace elements in its group.
SCP-XXXX was found in a sealed crypt in [REDACTED], Italy, 1954, after the local populace noticed several high and low frequency, extremely loud sounds emanating from a mountain adjoining the small town. Prior to the acquisition by The Foundation, the immediate area SCP-XXXX occupied experienced an abnormally high amount of ear related illnesses and disorders for several decades. SCP-XXXX was found surrounded by copious amounts of rubble, heavily dried blood and effigies, later found out to be made out of bone covered in a heavy layer of soot and dust. The entity itself was stuffed with many layers of balled up, heavily eroded paper and cloth imprinted with several bloodstains, seemingly in an effort to negate SCP-XXXX's dangerous properties.
The manner in which SCP-XXXX was created prior to containment is so far unknown, however it is theorised that SCP-XXXX appeared sometime during the 18th century, after careful examination on the cloth found several stamps typical to a printing company in Great Britain. It is unknown to who owned SCP-XXXX during this time, however local rumours and stories place the owner somewhere near Pompeii.
