Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is currently situated in a standard humanoid containment chamber. Any writing materials, sharp objects and other methods of written communication are banned from its cell. Addition of a window is under review by the O5 council by request of the object. SCP-XXXX is under constant surveillance due to a recent suicide attempt, and efforts are being made to improve its mental health.
Description: Object is a 13 year old Caucasian female, displaying no unusual physical traits. SCP-XXXX cannot write, speak, or otherwise express itself in anything other than a cold, clinical tone. The entity also has an unconfirmed memetic effect on anyone who listens to it speak. Listeners report extreme boredom, desire to ignore the subject and even falling sleep in some cases. It has attempted to explain its extreme distress at its anomaly, however gauging its emotions is difficult. If the object is allowed to write, it will desperately try to write anything other than impersonal phrases and simple descriptions, only to fail immediately and attempt to terminate itself with said writing utensil. This effect has only been observed recently. Prior communication attempts have been listed below.
Initial Interview- 02/12/19 2:35pm
Interviewer: Dr S. Cerulean
Interviewee: SCP-XXXX
Dr Cerulean: Good afternoon SCP-XXXX, I’m going to ask you some questions about your anomaly today.
SCP-XXXX: Good afternoon Doctor Cerulean. I will answer your questions.
Dr Cerulean: Your co-operation is appreciated. So, when did you first become aware of your anomaly?
SCP-XXXX: Ever since I began speaking it’s been there. I like poetry, so I’ve tried to recite it. It becomes simple and cold. Words mean nothing.
Dr Cerulean: Interesting. So, are the words changed as you read them? Or must you change the tone in your head in order to physically say them?
SCP-XXXX: I create a sentence in my head. It is beautiful and elegant. I try to say my sentence and it becomes cold. Mechanical. Can you fix me?
(Dr Cerulean suddenly seems to lose interest. Her eyes gloss over and her response is short.)
Dr Cerulean:. I’m sorry. We are not here to fix anomalous objects, but rather, to understand them.
SCP-XXXX: Object. That’s correct. I’m just an object.
(despite no change in tone or expression, the object begins to cry. Interview is terminated by order of Dr. Cerulean. When asked why she terminated the interview, Dr. Cerulean expressed confusion and claimed she was bored.)
Test A - 16/12/19 11:20am
Subject: SCP-XXXX
Procedure:
Object is given a copy of ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream‘ by William Shakespeare to read aloud to an audience of 10 D-class personnel. It decides to read from Act 4, Scene 1.
Results:
Object read several pages before anomalous effects began to show. D-class became increasingly restless, 2 falling asleep entirely. Upon reaching the line ‘Are you sure that you are awake? It seems to me that yet we sleep, we dream.’ (Read by object as ‘Are you awake? I think we’re still asleep.’) D-3999 attempted to escape the cell, ramming their head into the wall until they expired. At this point SCP-XXXX has dissolved into tears, and is frantically apologising in a monotone voice.
Analysis:
Dr. Cerulean has decided to limit D-class testing to fewer subjects, if any at all. These results have been marked as unprecedented, despite being valuable to our understanding of this anomaly.
