Item #: SCP-4201

Object Class: Safe Euclid

Special Containment Procedures:
Item SCP-4201 is to be kept in an approximately 14 meter x 10 meter x 5 meter 20.5 meter x 15.5 meter x 6 meter chamber down a 40 meter long hallway located at Site 19 Site 12 Site 09 Site 15. Inside this chamber, a locked (wooden) box -containing SCP-4021 is closely monitored by a camera at some (if not all) times for any signs audio/power-cut issues. The only time when the box is not monitored is when Class-D personnel are permitted to enter its chambers. Every time when Class-D personnel enters the chamber the reinforced glass doors behind them will lock and be supported by several more layers of transparent protection (usually thick layers of plastic nanocellulose).

Description:
SCP-4201 is an old and fragile lock made out of an unknown material. It was first transferred to Site 19 in 1999. The complete story of this object is currently unknown but it is believed that it had once belonged to a medival blacksmith c. 9th-11th century as of markings on it emblazed in Anglo-Saxon. The site has had an idea of taking samples of SCP-4201 and have examined it for any sort of radioactive/poisonous activity. This idea was scrapped, however, when site researchers have had difficulty in turning electromagnetic machines on during the process- this has never happened before. Facility personnel speculate that SCP-4201 is somehow related to SCP-513 as of the unknown substance it is made from. Though site researchers know that the thick layer of material on 513 is just stubborn rust that would not come off; they do not understand what the material coating SCP-4201 even is. Because of its strange capabilities of turning-off electrical and wave signals, staff think that it would be some sort of powerful magnet (something like the Earth's electromagnetic field). It is believed that there is a story behind this lock. Here is some information senior researchers have compiled:

Since then, the object has been moved several times due to various technical (power-related) difficulties. It is now contained in Site 15. Researchers from previous different sites believe that, if near anything powered by electricity in a range of 30 meters approximately, SCP-4201 could corrupt the flow of power through the entire facility. To prevent this , all cameras (when there are living species near) are to be disabled ; a reinforced glass door is placed at the entrance of the chamber for surveillance. 4201 was discovered by agent G████-P███ (a MTF lieutenant investigating the year-long power cuts around the border of M█████) who had reported that:

Test A - Date:██/██/████ 4:30

Subject: D-4812; Male, 34. History of violent crime: Physical assault apon other Class-D personnel. Supervising researcher: Dr. J████ Location: Containment cell-F5 (researcher and staff observing from behind boarded corridor, equipped with binoculars), Site-15.

Procedure: Subject D-4812 is to enter the chamber and to sit in a corner, on a metal stool, and to 'observe' 4201. At this point, all surveillance cameras and electronics are disabled in a range of 30 meters from the lock.

Results: 23:59 Class-D is seen to be jerking his entire body and SCP-4201 was suspected to be controlling electrical transmission in the brain. Class-D is then seen ripping his throat out, almost killing the subject instantly.

Lockdown 15/C/WHITE Date:██/██/████ 7:02

Personnel and staff are to immediately evacuate to nearest evacuation shelters as AMTF units are to arrive and patroll the facility until all anomalies are contained successfully. SCP-079, though previously inactive, has communicated with some other electronic SCPs in the area and has granted them access to all the doors and tesla gates in the facility. Most notably, SCP-4201 had been acting strangly that day as it had disabled all security cameras 1km from its dwelling. 4 hours later, AMTF units arrived at the scene as scientists and different researchers try to disable all electrical pylons and to staunch electric flow. A couple of hours later, the facility was returned to full working condition. SCP-079 is questioned by a Class-D personnel but said Class-D did not find out about how it had leaked into the security system without senior researchers discovering the disrupting of signals.

Analysis: SCP=4201 is believed to have either communicated with SCP-079 or has tried to help disable 079 during the lockdown via disabling many other surveillance cameras scattered around the building. It is questioned whether SCP-4201 deserves a 'Thaumiel' class or 'Keter' (sentient towards SCP-079).
