Item #: SCP-4183

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-4183 is to be held in a 3 m x 3 m x 3 m containment cell reinforced with titanium. The cell must be 1200 km underground and regularly checked for damage.

Two (2) guards are to be placed outside SCP-4183's cell, and are to report if they hear anything they consider 'strange'. They are then to be sent for physic revaluation
Any and all testing done with SCP-4183 must be approved by no less than two (2) level-3 personnel, with a minimum of three (3) subjects entering at any given time.

Description: SCP-4183 is a large oak chest, dating back to 500 AD. No known means can damage SCP-4183, although it seems to, though slowly, be decaying. It lacks any notable features, besides a golden plaque, which has yet to be translated.

SCP-4183's anomalous properties will not manifest until one of two things happen: the chest is opened, or two weeks have passed since it was opened. Should the chest be opened, it will then proceed to release a variety of creatures, none of yet have be identified. The creatures, designated SCP-4183-1, will continue to kill the person who opened the chest. They will then retreat inside the chest, dragging the body with them. SCP-4183 will not open again for forty-eight (48) hours.

Once every week, the item will open on it's own, and a humanoid figure will come out. When this happens, all cameras and audio devices in the cell malfunction. The entity, now SCP-4183-2, will proceed to call for someone, to have 'a friendly chat'. The item will then interact with whomever enters the cell for ten (10) minutes, send them away, and re-enter SCP-4183. Subjects describe SCP-4183-2 as a male entity, standing at 1.8 m, with no distinguishable features. The items skin is pure black, and what it is wearing depends on the viewer.
As of 5/17/198█, SCP-4183's classification is to be raised to Euclid. Check Log 048.
