Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: Due to the nature of SCP-XXXX, physical containment is impossible. A perimeter is to be erected around SCP-XXXX’s area of effect. A minimum of six (6) level three guards are to be stationed at the perimeter of SCP-XXXX at a time, to prevent civilian investigation. Furthermore, the property on which SCP-XXXX is located has been purchased by the SCP Foundation.

Description: SCP-XXXX is an area which is approximately 20x80x10 meters in area, although it is not an exact geometric space. All air in this space has the anomalous property of being extremely ‘sharp’, and any object coming into contact with any air or airborne particles in this area will cause lacerations on the object. Curiously, the same object can only be affected by this anomalous effect once, unless it is removed from SCP-XXXX’s area of effect.

If a living being enters SCP-XXXX’s area of effect, it will be gradually covered in cuts of various sizes and depths. This leads to death by internal and external hemorrhaging in almost 90% of cases. The lacerations will occasionally completely sever a limb, or head, of a subject, but the cuts are usually too shallow for this to occur. If the subject is removed from SCP-XXXX’s area of effect within ten (10) seconds of it being placed in the area, it will only suffer minor to moderate cuts.

It is currently unknown how the air is ‘sharp’ or able to cause lacerations at all, given that it is a gas, and as such should not be able to hold properties found exclusively in solid objects.

Addendum XXXX.1: Discovery
SCP-XXXX was discovered on 8/17/██, in ████████, Pennsylvania when three individuals were trespassing on private property, and subsequently walked through SCP-XXXX’s area of effect, killing them. The property has since been purchased by the SCP Foundation, and repurposed into a containment zone.

Addendum XXXX.2: Test Log

Object Used: A typical dinner plate, made of glazed ceramic.
Procedure: Plate was thrown into SCP-XXXX’s area of effect.
Results: Plate was cleanly cut into thirds.

Object Used: A 1995 Volvo Cabriolet Convertible
Procedure: Weight was places on the gas pedal, and car was driven through SCP-XXXX’s area of effect.
Results: Car was covered in cuts, with all windows except the left passenger-side window shattered. Tires were popped, and the engine was rendered unusable.

Object Used: D-18691
Procedure: D-18691 instructed to walk into SCP-XXXX’s area of effect.
Results: D-18691 covered in lacerations. Death from a combination of a sliced windpipe, and a severed Achilles Tendon.

Object Used: D-09187
Procedure: D-09187 was instructed to move his arm into SCP-XXXX’s area of effect.
Results: D-09187’s arm was cleanly severed.

Note from Dr. Hayes: Okay, who thought of that first D-class test? Whoever did will be facing severe reprimanding, and will be forced to work with the janitorial crew to clean this mess up.
