Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-4062 is to be contained in a solid cell made entirely of reinforced steel (size of cell determined by size of specimen). SCP-4062’s cell is to be covered in noise cancelling foam at least 1 meter thick on both the inside and outside of the cell. The cell is to be kept completely solid, with no holes or gaps in it. No video capturing devices are to be left in the cell under any circumstances. High durability mirrors are to be placed on the walls and ceiling of the cell and should be checked regularly for damage. D-Class personell must perform a routine check of the cells to confirm all of these prerequisites have been met. In the case of a containment breach, no special action is required, although upon clearance of the emergency, at least three D-Class are to enter the cell to tranquilize SCP-4062 before immediately performing a cell check.
Description: SCP-4062 is a quadrupedal entity of questionable origin. SCP-4062 is a mammal approximately the size of a large dog or small horse, although these attributes may vary by specimen. SCP-4062 is not observed to have to body hair, but instead a full body of soft, veiny skin, somewhat resembling a human scrotum. Despite its appearance, however, no human technology or force appears to be able to harm them, of which tests have included compression, incision, heating and freezing, and radiation, though none of these seem to cause any damage. Although instances of SCP-4062 can not be physically harmed, heavy sedatives such as carfentanyl are effective at rendering them unconscious. SCP-4062 has dull nails on it’s hands and feet that appear to be used for climbing and transportation rather than hunting. The creatures also have long, sharp fangs that are completely concealed within it’s mouth, meaning instances of SCP-4062 appear to have no teeth (or any or preditorial attributes for that matter) when it’s mouth is closed.
SCP-4062 are somewhat hostile, however many smaller instances only use their anomalous ability when chased and cornered by another animal or human, and very few instances of SCP-4062 have actively pursued their victims, although it is not unheard of. SCP-4062 emits a High pitched shriek when it is close to it’s victim, causing headaches and mild nausea. All humans who have heard this noise are distinctly incapable of describing the sound to researchers. Up to 8 hours after initial contact, the human or animal (dubbed SCP-4062-1) feel no different than usual. However, after a certain period of time, subjects become extremely paranoid and convinced they’re in danger, despite there being no signs of danger. Any level of physical protection around the subject has yet to alleviate this stress, and it continuously increases over time. Within 12-16 hours of contact, SCP-4062-1 will be completely unable to sleep without the help of heavy sedatives, although rest also does not reduce the subjects’ paranoia. After 36 hours later, the subject will in most cases be incapable of sleep despite any sedatives or physical harm done. SCP-4062-1 appear to feel pain in a greater sense than regular humans, further research needed to determine whether this is another effect of SCP-4062 or just a human reaction in correlation to fear. Instances of SCP-4062-1 will usually attempt suicide or self harming to relieve the stress ailing them, but after about 2 weeks of no sleep the subjects will die from loss of brain activity (Note: SCP-4062 disproved the “Russian Sleep Experiment” story). Listening to digital or audio recording will cause much milder paranoia that wears off after 4-6 hours.
When any clear reflection of SCP-4062 is present, whether it be a mirror or a very clean metal surface, it will not be able to use it’s anomalous ability, thus placing mirrors inside of 4062 cells. SCP-4062 do not display fear of mirrors, but rather appear unaware that reflections block their abilities. Some videos exist on the internet of instances of SCP-4062, but the foundation does everything in it’s power to make it appear to be a hoax. The few believers of these creatures call them “skinwalkers”, based on the name initially given to the creatures from ancient Navajo cultures. Old texts from Navajo settlements show that they believed mirrors prevented these “demons” from using their powers, which leads the foundation to believe SCP-4062 has existed for a long time, even prior to the foundation. Although reflections make SCP-4062 unable to screech, it can and will use it’s sharp teeth to attack victims as a last resort, so caution must be taken at all times. Note that “Wendigos” are entirely fictional creatures that merely share some resemblance to SCP-4062, and any reports of Wendigos to the foundation are to be treated as instances of SCP-4062.
