The scream was unlike anything Researcher Mcafrey had ever heard. It was like an otherworldly facsimile of a human scream, which, considering the source of the noise, was unsurprising. That didn't make the sound any less painful, nor the event any less extraordinary. It had never before screamed like that. Hell, it usually never did anything. Mcafrey looked up at the screen, displaying a live feed from the inside of the containment cell below the observation room, and saw that the scream wasn't the only unusual event.

On the screen, SCP-106 had its hands on its head. It was thrashing around its cell, as if it was trying to shake something out. Its face, usually fixed with a sickeningly wide and sadistic smile, was contorted into an agonized expression. Droplets of its corrosive liquid coating flew across the room, propelled by the creature's violent and erratic movements, landing on the walls, floor, and ceiling with an angry sizzle as the substance tried to erode the lead layers of the cell.

Researcher Mcafrey had been assigned to SCP-106's research and containment team barely a year earlier, but in that time he had already lived through two containment breaches triggered by his research subject. Despite his brief span in this position, he knew one thing: this had never happened before. What he and his team were now seeing and hearing was very new.

In the cell, a dark, oozing substance began to pool on the floor. Mcafrey and the team knew instantly what it was: a portal to SCP-106's horrific pocket dimension. During the last containment breach, SCP-106 had dragged one of Mcafrey's colleagues and two of the security detail into a similar portal. A few teeth, half of a jaw bone, and three finger bones were all that were later recovered on the floor near where the portal had once been. The thought of what that… thing did to its victims sent a chill down the young researcher's spine, and the sight of another portal in that monster's cell filled him with fear. Yet SCP-106 made no attempt to escape into the portal. Instead, the creature collapsed to its knees, all while continuing to scream.

What happened next filled Mcafrey and his team with shock and dread.
