Item #: XXXX
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be kept in a standard anomalous object containment unit at Site-17. Testing may only be performed by approval of and supervised by personnel of Level-3 clearance or higher. Travel to the future is prohibited.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a block carved from a currently unknown species of wood that measures 4x3.5x12cm and weighs 358g. On one side of SCP-XXXX, the word ‘PRESS’ is carved in rough letters. Counterclockwise from ‘PRESS’ is a panel that appears to have five scrolling numerical inputs. No numbers are visible on the surface of SCP-XXXX. At the top of SCP-XXXX is what appears to be a carved wooden button, though it does not have the ability to move or be pressed.
Properties: The inputted numbers on SCP-XXXX can be viewed in the mind of any subject that touches it, and can be changed by touching the arrows above and below the inputs. If the subject presses the button on the top, they will be transported onto the nearest body of land in the time designated with the input. All items and objects will be removed from the subject excluding SCP-XXXX, and the subject's body will have any damage to their body healed. If the SCP-XXXX's button is pressed again, the subject will return to the exact moment and physical state as when they departed, appearing to have not moved or changed at all, other than having memories of their excursion through time.
Any attempts to change the past appear to be impossible, as any attempted change has already occurred in history. Travel to and changing of the future is possible, though prohibited due to the possibility of causing instances of SCP-XXXX-1 to form.
SCP-XXXX-1 is a wave of distorted time that when making contact with matter can have the following effects on it:
- Distortion of perceived time
- Rapid aging
- Rapid de-aging
- Warping appearance
Discovery Log: MTF team ██ was deployed following reports of distortions in time north of the province of ██████ in Canada. When the team arrived, they noted the distorted landscape, patches of both barren and lush land, and what appeared to be flaming clouds of ash floating in the mostly clear sky. They followed the distortions to the epicenter, where they found a cabin that appeared to be frozen mid-explosion, and inside was a few decayed fetuses and piles of dust, as well as SCP-XXXX and a note containing the following:
Scratching, Scraping, Carve, and Shape,
Nothings broke, won't need the tape,
Now it's done, Now it's Complete
Nothing in time can compete.
Tree of time, knife on control,
You don't have to pay the toll,
Its the wood of time travel,
But its time that unravels,
If you try to change the way,
It's not your life that will stay,
Its alright if you are careful,
Shifting Futures are just shameful.

Nearby, was found an opened package and letter that were both untouched by the distortions, the letter contained the following message:
I made another one Larry! I can't believe how easy it is to make these weird things! Since I've already got the tooth of wishes and the string of containment, I think it's the time that I start I start another one! Here, you seemed to like that chair I made, so here, I've carved another branch of the tree of time, this time into a more manageable form… I think you can figure out how it works.
Sincerely,
~The Maker
(P.S. I know you thought that name sounded dumb, but I like it!)
An investigation is being conducted to locate the origin of the letter and package, though, nothing has been discovered as of yet.
Incident Log XXXX-1: On ██/██/200█, Dr. █████ conducted a test attempting to discover if The Foundation could use SCP-XXXX to prevent future breaches. Once Dr. █████ removed his thumb from the top of SCP-XXXX, a wave of energy was expelled from SCP-XXXX that reduced DR. █████ back into a fetal state, turned the security officers monitoring the test into dust, and changed Dr. ███████ back into a child. The containment unit was warped out of shape completely, keeping the unit door from opening until 2 hours later when the door was drilled open, and SCP-XXXX retrieved.
