Dr Deeceey

Item: SCP-4121

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: Due to SCP-4121's large manifestation perimeter, a 15 sq km area of Northwestern ██████ has been cordoned off under the guise of "geological instability". The perimeter is to be patrolled every 3 hours and requires two rolling teams of 20 agents with Level 2 clearance.

Upon realisation of SCP-4121's activation conditions, foundation staff should retreat immediately to the nearest observation cabin and activate automated perimeter defences. Staff should remain in lockdown until the "all-clear" signal is given by an agent with Level 4 clearance. In the event of a containment breach, any civilian instance crossing in to SCP-4121 will henceforth be referred to as SCP-4121-1. Any new instances of SCP-4121-1 are to be contained following the end of the SCP-4121 event and are to be sent to site ███/██ for further study.

Perimeter defences consist of three concentric rings of shock fencing 5cm below the ground. Any civilian entering the area during a manifestation of SCP-4121 will be instantly incapacitated and the effects of SCP-4121 rendered inert.

Description: SCP-4121 is an anomalous weather front that occurs exclusively in a 15 sq km area of ███████████ state forest in the Northwestern United States. The formation gathers across a large area known colloquially as the "Blasted Heath", a low area of deforestation in a self-contained natural valley.

SCP-4121 manifests as a fast moving "stratocumulus" cloud formation, which, upon covering the lowland area is occupies, begins to emit a strong iridescent light between the red and purple portion of the colour spectrum.. The onset of SCP-4121 is signal by the cessation of any and all animal and bird noise as well as an audible humming as if from a high flying aircraft. It may also be accompanied by a large animal exodus, as if pursued by predators or forest fire although no cause for such behaviour has been recorded.

Due to the lack of local human habitation, SCP-4121 has eluded Foundation attention for some time, however oral history tradition traces the first known instance of SCP-4121 to the year 18██, as a civilian settlement existed in the area (see addendum 4121-Alpha-1). SCP-4121 came to Foundation attention in 20██, after a family vacation party fell victim to the affects of a SCP-4121 manifestation.

Upon exposure to SCP-4121, any human that has directly viewed the lights becomes an instance of what will be hereby referred to as SCP-4121-1. Five minutes after exposure, instances of SCP-4121-1 begin to experience headache and a feeling of lightheadedness. After an hour, subjects begin to report an enhanced sense of mental acuity, recall and philosophical competence. Testing of D-class subjects that have undergone the SCP-4121-1 process has shown subject IQ to improve dramatically in the 24 hours following exposure. This has proven consistent even in subjects with a very low IQ, the highest recorded increase from subject D-4121-23 was measured from an IQ of 60, to 267 in 24 hours. By the end of the first 24-hours, instances of SCP-4121-1 report a feeling of empowerment and supremacy over the highest ranked Foundation researchers (see addendum 4121-D-4121-23) at this stage, subjects often attempt containment breach due to their heightened ingenuity and guile. After sleep, SCP-4121-1 reports vivid and disturbing dreams and begin to show signs of paranoia. Subjects report meeting a divine and all knowing entity in their dreams (hence known as SCP-4121-2), and with each night's sleep, they are imparted with increasingly troubling knowledge. All instances of SCP-4121-1 have declined to share any details of this knowledge, claiming that research staff lack the cognitive capacity to process the messages. After between 5 and 7 encounters with SCP-4121-2, SCP-4121-1 instances fall in to an irreconcilable depression, that regardless of medical intervention continues to deepen. After one full week of exposure, SCP-4121-1 will prepare to commit suicide. Due to their heightened capabilities, all fully conscious SCP-4121-1s have succeeded in their aim within 2 days. Some of the methods utilised have been highly creative and brutal.

Due to the 100% fatality rate in conscious subjects, little useable information has been gained on the nature of SCP-4121-2. Only that the entity is female and that is possesses limitless terrestrial and arcane knowledge. All attempts to monitor the sleep of SCP-4121-1 has resulted in catastrophic equipment failure.

SCP-4121 appears infrequently, with 4-5 reported happenings annually. It seems to respond to human presence as reports have intensified with the permanent Foundation presence. SCP-4121 appears to exist solely to implant it's message in humans. Why it chooses to impart unfathomable wisdom, leading to the subject's death is unknown.

Interview Log: 4121-Alpha-1

Interview with local resident A ████████, dated 13/07/██. Interview conducted by Doctor Leary

Doctor Leary: Good morning, Mr ███████. Can you please state for the record how you came by the information pertaining to the anomalous weather front?

A ███████: Weather front? You mean the Revelation? Sure. My pappy told me the story about the Blasted Health when I was just a kid. Folk story, passed down through the generations. I don't take much stock in those things, but it ain't right out in the Heath nonetheless…

DL: If you wouldn't mind sticking close to the details please, sir. Can you tell me what happened to the town of █████████ in the summer of 18██. In your own words.

A: Course, course. Well, it was a frontier town, about as far out as you be and still be called an American. Remote, but buzzin'. One particularly hot summer day, the Revelation rolls in, they say it talks to ya, in your head. Bout a week later, those folks go crazy and waste the whole town. Pap always said they brought it on themselves, with rituals and such.

DL: Can you please clarify what you mean by that, sir?

A: I mean they blew up. Spent the best part of a week dreaming up devils and talking to gods, only to burn the place to the ground with the whole population inside. That's when they started calling it the "Revelation".

DL: Why do you refer to the anomaly as "Revelation"?

A: Well they found all sorts in the wrecks, art works, math equations for god knows what, contraptions that noone at the time could figure out. They say the line between genius and madness is paper thin and well sir, these guys bust right on through. Folks say they got too smart for their own good all of a sudden, knew things they shouldn't; ungodly thing. So it seems about as good a name as any, don'tcha think?

DL: Thankyou, Mr ████████

A: One other thing Doc, they left the church standing after the fire, and they left a word on the alter written in blood, the word "Minerva".
